Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Bloodline Hunt
There was no suspense about Hidan's joining the Akatsuki organization. Many members of Akatsuki, including Shin, were curious about his immortality.
In fact, several members of Akatsuki hoped Hidan would join so that they wouldn't have to search for other test subjects in future experiments.
As for whether Hidan was willing to participate in experiments? That's funny! Do you think the members of Akatsuki needed the consent of their test subjects to conduct experiments?
Of course, Hidan himself wasn't exactly righteous. Although he wasn't the brightest, his abilities were undeniably unique and unpredictable.
Shin was considering ways to subdue Hidan. His abilities could be put to use against pirates in the other world.
Regardless, these matters could be discussed later. Shin hadn't physically arrived in the Hidden Rain Village yet; instead, he was attending the meeting using the astral projection jutsu.
As the meeting drew close, Uchiha Obito proposed his plan to start collecting tailed beasts.
"I've already retrieved the chakra of the Eight-Tails and the Two-Tails," Shin said flatly. "And in addition to the organization's funds, I've covered most of the expenses myself. So, I believe I don't need to participate in this mission."
Uchiha Obito couldn't argue with that, and Deva Path Pain nodded in agreement. "Madara, you should have arrangements in the Hidden Mist Village, right? Then the two tailed beasts from Mist Village will be your responsibility."
"Considering the Land of Water is isolated overseas with limited contact with other nations, capturing the tailed beasts shouldn't attract too much attention," he added.
Uchiha Obito suppressed his frustration. After all, the Three-Tails' Jinchuriki was the Fourth Mizukage under his control—a key asset in his hand.
In the original plan, Akatsuki's development was within Obito's expectations, so he hadn't been concerned about the Hidden Mist Village. Due to his resentment over Rin Nohara's death, he even harbored a destructive grudge toward the Mist Village, leading to a brutal massacre there.
But now, seeing Akatsuki's growth with signs that he is losing control, the Mist Village's value surged in his mind. He was reluctant to eliminate the Fourth Mizukage, fearing that doing so would cause the Hidden Mist Village to slip from his control.
"Maybe... we should proceed more cautiously or start with another target first?" he suggested hesitantly.
Deva Path Pain's cold gaze settled on Obito, making him uneasy. 'Could it be that Nagato has caught on to something?' he wondered.
"The Akatsuki is already attracting a lot of attention. I don't want a situation where the five great shinobi countries join forces to take us down. Is that understood?" Deva Path Pain's voice was cold.
Obito clenched his teeth. Ever since Shin joined, things had gone downhill for him. Now Nagato was addressing him in such a tone, indicating he no longer valued Obito's Uchiha Madara persona—or perhaps never fully believed it.
In the end, Obito relented. "Fine. I'll capture the Three-Tails and Six-Tails."
He was already devising a strategy: "By staging an organized hunt on bloodline clans, I can then rescue and recruit some of these bloodline users, presenting myself as their savior."
"In this way, even if I lose indirect control of the Hidden Mist Village, I can still acquire some powerful allies, so it's not a total loss."
Obito's plan might have seemed flawless, but Shin had already set his sights on the bloodline clans as well.
Once the meeting concluded, Shin decided to head to the Hidden Mist Village next.
Hidden Mist Village was famous for three abilities: the Kaguya clan's Dead Bone Pulse, the Yuki clan's Ice Release, and the Hozuki clan's Hydrification Jutsu. All of which will be extremely helpful in the other world.
"Onii-san, are you going to take me home?"
A young voice interrupted Shin's thoughts. Looking down, he saw the three-year-old Hinata staring at him with her white eyes.
Behind her, Neji stood like a little guard. Shin reached out and ruffled the little girl's hair. "What? You don't want to go home?"
"No, that's not it," Hinata replied, her cheeks turning pink as she played with her fingers. "It's just... will I see you again?"
Even at the age of three, Hinata knew it was uncommon for ninjas from different villages to interact, so her question wasn't surprising.
"Don't worry," Shin replied calmly. "You'll definitely see me again."
Shin doubted that Konoha would stop his visits; they might even encourage it. While individual ninjas had an unquestionable integrity, ninja villages as a whole did not. Interactions like his were seldom seen as shameful in the ninja world.
"Then let's make a promise," Hinata said, extending her little finger solemnly toward Shin.
With a faint smile, Shin linked his pinky finger with hers. Satisfied, Hinata beamed and dashed off.
Hinata's escort was already prepared, but if necessary, her uncle, Hizashi Hyuga, would have personally taken charge.
Besides, Jiraiya would have relayed all relevant information to Konoha. Thus, the fact that Hizashi no longer has the Caged Bird Seal was no secret. Konoha and the Hyuga Clan had simply chosen to remain silent.
For Shin, the interaction with Hinata was just a small interlude. He wouldn't leave a three-year-old in the Sound Village; Konoha, with the Hyuga Clan, was where she belonged.
Now, Shin was ready to set sail for the Land of Water. His main objective was to secure the bloodline of the Kaguya and Yuki clans.
This time, however, he would be accompanied by two others—Orochimaru and Sasori of the Red Sand.
During Akatsuki's meeting, the two had noticed that Obito intended to target the Hidden Mist Village in the Land of Water. Outwardly, they kept their thoughts to themselves, but both were hoping to capitalize on the situation.
With Akatsuki's typical two-member teams, both Orochimaru and Sasori shared a scientist's curiosity, and their mutual interest in human modification naturally made them partners.
So, after the meeting, they had a private discussion. Sasori wanted to collect human puppets, while Orochimaru sought more bloodlines. Once they agreed on their objectives, they set off for the Hidden Mist Village.
Naturally, Orochimaru didn't keep Shin in the dark about this plan, so the trio set off for the Mist Village together.
