Without warning, the three moved with incredible speed, their bodies blurring as they darted through the crowd. Their target wasn't Naruto, however. It was Kabuto.
The sudden movement caught the attention of the other Genins. The tension in the room sharpened as everyone turned to watch the Otogakure ninjas in action. No one stepped in to stop the attack. Instead, they silently waited, eager to see how this impromptu conflict would unfold.
Kabuto, seemingly relaxed and unaware, remained in his spot, adjusting his glasses as if nothing were amiss.
Zaku leapt from the desk in the front row, his movements swift and calculated. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled two kunai at Kabuto, their gleaming edges slicing through the air. Following closely behind, Dosu surged forward, his right fist raised and humming with the concentrated energy of his jutsu, the Resonating Echo Drill. His intent was clear—this was no mere warning.
But just as the kunai neared Kabuto, a thunderous voice rang out, shaking the room.
"How dare you?!"
The shout carried an almost physical weight, freezing both attackers in their tracks. Zaku, still airborne from his leap, was immobilized mid-jump, his kunai suspended unnaturally in midair. Dosu, mere feet from his target, found his body locked in place, his arm frozen mid-swing. The room fell eerily silent as every Genin turned to see the source of the command.
It was Inoiki.
A shimmering outline of sky-blue light surrounded his entire body, crackling faintly as he extended his hand. He was using Psychokinesis. The force of his power held Zaku and Dosu like marionettes suspended by invisible strings.
Zaku's eyes widened in sheer terror as he struggled in vain, his body refusing to obey him. Dangling in mid-air, he broke into a cold sweat. Dosu, grounded but no less helpless, gritted his teeth, his clenched fist trembling as he fought against the unseen force holding him captive.
The kunai Zaku had thrown hovered motionless in the air, their sharp tips pointing uselessly toward Kabuto.
Inoiki began to walk toward them, his steps deliberate and his expression calm but brimming with authority. His voice cut through the silence, cold and commanding.
"Who gave you the courage to attack a Konoha ninja?" His eyes narrowed, his words dripping with disdain. "And that too, in Konoha."
The tension in the room was suffocating. Every Genin watched in stunned silence, the sheer display of power leaving them awestruck.
Inoiki stopped in front of Dosu, his gaze piercing. Without a word, he raised his right hand and struck Dosu across the face with the back of it. The force of the slap sent Dosu sprawling to the ground, his body rolling several feet before he finally came to a stop.
Zaku, still suspended mid-air, stared down in horror, his bravado from earlier completely shattered.
Zaku, still trapped by Inoiki's Psychokinesis, suddenly felt himself hurtling through the air, drawn toward Inoiki at an alarming speed. His protests died in his throat as he realized he couldn't stop the invisible force pulling him forward.
Before he could react, Inoiki's fist connected solidly with his stomach. The impact was brutal. Zaku crumpled to the ground, clutching his abdomen, his face twisted in pain as the air was knocked from his lungs.
Inoiki stood over him, his eyes cold and unrelenting. "Hmph! You're lucky you're here on invitation," he said icily. "If it weren't for that, I'd have crippled you for your audacity. Now, get up and stand where you belong."
Zaku groaned, still clutching his stomach as he staggered to his feet. Dosu, having barely recovered from his earlier humiliation, moved to help Zaku steady himself. Both of them shuffled back toward their teammate, Kin, who had wisely remained on the sidelines.
Kin exhaled quietly, relief washing over her. She felt fortunate she hadn't acted as recklessly as Dosu and Zaku. Watching them suffer at the hands of Inoiki had been enough to quell any thoughts of retaliation.
The three Otogakure ninjas stood together now, their humiliation evident. Though their pride burned from the public defeat, none of them dared to retaliate. The gap in power between them and Inoiki was painfully clear.
The two kunai Zaku had thrown earlier clattered to the ground in front of him, a final reminder of their failed attack.
Before the tension could rise further, a loud, commanding voice echoed through the room.
"QUIET!"
The single word silenced the room instantly. All eyes turned to the source: a tall, imposing man with a scarred face and a demeanor that radiated authority. It was Ibiki Morino, the head examiner, flanked by a group of equally stern invigilators.
The rookies and other Genins froze, their earlier chatter dying down as Ibiki's sharp gaze swept across the room. The air grew heavy, anticipation thick as everyone realized the first stage of the Chunin Exams was about to begin.
