Chapter 35: A New Member
"Shall we begin, brother?" Naruto asked, holding a scroll in his hand. His gaze fell on Anko Mitarashi, unconscious on the floor in front of him. With a firm nod, he signaled to proceed.
Konan stepped forward, gently lifting Anko and removing her coat to reveal the curse mark etched onto her neck. Nearby, Nagato remained seated atop the launcher, his sharp Rinnegan eyes observing the scene. Fixing his gaze on the curse seal, he let out a soft sigh.
"I always thought resurrection was the exclusive domain of the Six Paths of Samsara," Nagato murmured. "Who would've imagined Orochimaru had devised his own method?"
Naruto smiled faintly. "After all, Orochimaru was the greatest scientist in the ninja world. It's not surprising he left behind something like this."
Unfurling the scroll, Naruto knelt beside Anko. "Sasuke once told me," he began, "that Orochimaru's curse marks are more than just a technique—they're like a fragment of his very essence. A backup of his life force, if you will."
Nagato raised an eyebrow but remained silent as Naruto continued.
"The curse mark may not be unique, but it's a key," Naruto explained, "a pointer that leads to Orochimaru's soul. By unlocking its secrets, we can summon his essence back into the living world. His regenerative abilities and the power embedded in the cursed body will do the rest."
He paused briefly, glancing at Jūgo, who stood silently to the side. "And Jūgo here is the linchpin of it all. The original source of the curse seal lies in him. Orochimaru simply refined and weaponized it."
Naruto formed a series of hand seals and placed his palm on Anko's neck. "Seal Release!" he declared, channeling chakra into the curse mark.
Energy surged as the scroll glowed. Jūgo's chakra flowed through the scroll and into Anko's curse mark. Suddenly, a bright light burst forth. A serpentine shape emerged, growing larger and larger until a massive white snake slithered out from Anko's neck. Its gaping maw opened wide, and from within, Orochimaru emerged, slick with mucus and reborn into the world.
Naruto wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Uncle Snake, do you have to make such a dramatic entrance? It's disgusting."
Orochimaru rose, brushing himself off with unsettling calm. His golden, slit-pupiled eyes locked onto Naruto. "My, my… of all people, I never imagined it would be you, Uzumaki Naruto, who would bring me back."
Naruto smirked. "Trust me, I never imagined I'd be wearing these clothes and resurrecting you either."
Orochimaru's thin lips curled into a sinister smile. "Ah, the unpredictability of the world. Clearly, something significant has happened to put you on this path."
"Exactly," Naruto replied. "And that's why I brought you back, Uncle Snake. I need your knowledge and skills to help me build a new ninja world."
Orochimaru tilted his head, intrigued. "A new ninja world?" he echoed playfully.
Naruto nodded firmly. "Yes."
Orochimaru let out a soft chuckle. "I'm afraid I'm not interested."
Before Naruto could respond, Konan stepped forward, her sharp gaze fixed on Orochimaru. "Don't be ungrateful, Orochimaru," she warned. "Naruto resurrected you. He can just as easily return you to the void."
As if on cue, Nagato's Six Paths of Pain loomed closer, their presence a clear threat.
Naruto raised a hand, signaling them to stop. "There's no need for that," he said calmly. "Force won't work on someone like him. Besides, killing him isn't an option—not yet, anyway."
Orochimaru's serpentine gaze flickered with interest. "How intriguing, Naruto. You've managed to make Konan and even Nagato work under your command. And Nagato…" His eyes lingered on the Rinnegan, his fascination palpable.
"They're my companions now," Naruto said simply. "And I believe you, Uncle Snake, can become one too. Join us. Be part of my organization, the Celestial."
Orochimaru laughed softly, a sound both mocking and amused. "What makes you think I'd agree?"
Naruto's expression softened. "Because I understand you, Orochimaru. You live for one purpose: to uncover the truths of the world. Hokage titles, villages, politics—none of that matters to you. What you seek is the ultimate truth, the essence of life itself. And I can help you achieve that."
Orochimaru raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued but not yet convinced.
"I know you value your freedom," Naruto continued. "You don't want to be shackled by any village, organization, or leader. You want to research, to explore the mysteries of existence without restraint. Join us, and I promise you that freedom. More than that, I'll support your research—and even join you in it."
"Join me?" Orochimaru repeated, his voice laced with curiosity. "What could possibly fascinate you, Naruto, to the point of collaboration?"
Naruto's expression grew serious. "The Rinnegan—how to evolve the Sharingan into it. The true power of the Sage of Six Paths. The Ten Tails—whether it can truly be revived by uniting the tailed beasts. These mysteries, and so many others, call to me. And together, we can uncover them."
Orochimaru's golden eyes gleamed with a mix of shock and excitement. "Ah, Naruto, you truly are full of surprises. I thought I was the only one mad enough to pursue such truths. But you… you've surpassed me."
Naruto smiled knowingly. "So, what do you say, Uncle Snake? Will you help me shape this new world?"
Konan added, "If you join us, you'll have everything you need: resources, a research facility, protection. All we ask is your cooperation."
For a long moment, Orochimaru was silent. Finally, a sly smile crept across his face. "Very well, I'll join—but on my terms. It's a partnership, nothing more."
"Agreed," Naruto said, extending a hand. "Welcome aboard, Chief Scientist of Celestial."
Orochimaru's laughter echoed through the room, his excitement barely contained. "Let's see where this madness takes us, Naruto."
