Chapter 11: Celestial Beings II
[First-person POV]
A few minutes before
As a hole formed in space, two silhouettes emerged from it, Yumi and myself, Akira. Suspended in the cosmic vastness, I took a deep breath and let out a breath of wonder.
"If someone had told me that one day I would be standing here, in space, I would never have believed it... hehehe, it's incredible!"
Lost in my thoughts and excitement, I didn't immediately notice the gaze that Yumi, the elder, was giving me. When our eyes met, she offered me an enigmatic smile before turning her attention to the planet in front of us.
"Let's be clear," she declared. "I'm not here to help you. As the patriarch requested, I am your supervisor. Only the mission matters, no matter what you do, as long as you obtain the divine fruit."
"What do you mean?" I asked, a little confused by her words.
"Besides the mission, nothing you do will be included in the report," Yumi clarified, looking me straight in the eyes.
"I don't mind the idea, but are you really sure?" I asked, glancing sideways, trying to unravel the mysteries of her decision.
"Don't worry, I have my reasons," she replied, opening the dimensional door again. "So, shall we go?"
Following her, I couldn't help but see her differently. Everything about her was unique, whether it was her way of speaking, her behavior, or her smile. She is truly different from the other Otsutsuki.
'Such a strange woman,' I thought.
Present Moment
We arrived in what looked like a room in a castle. The faces of the people present and their equipment raised my suspicions about where we were. I had to instill fear, hence the need to kill this girl who looked like a succubus from anime of my past life.
After eliminating her, I erected a chakra barrier to avoid blood splatters and pieces of flesh. Turning to the others, I saw their faces pale. Some trembled in fear. To understand our situation, I had to ask some questions. I approached them, focusing on the girl in revealing clothes.
"What is your name?" he asked, gently grasping her chin, locking eyes with hers.
"Who do you think you are? State your identity!" Dorian exclaimed, standing up, ready to attack.
Ignoring Dorian, he fixed his gaze on the girl, waiting for her response. Suddenly, Dorian's left hand fell to the ground. Not understanding what was happening, he looked at his amputated arm in horror, followed by the stunned looks of the others. After a few seconds, pain overwhelmed him, and a cry of suffering escaped his lips.
"Aaaaaaaahhh"
Dorian's cry brought them back to reality, their faces contorting. "Do-Dorian!" Mira cried, rushing to him.
At the same time, Kael, overwhelmed by rage, rushed at him. "You bastard!"
A deadly pressure descended on the group, and he looked at them, tilting his head slightly. "Take one more step and I'll kill you, you and your group," he warned in a cold tone.
Paralyzed by fear, the rest of the group remained immobile. Resisting the murderous intent, Thalia erected a barrier, lessening the effect on the group.
"Who are you?" Elysia asked, her voice trembling as she sat on the ground.
"I am the one asking the questions," he replied coldly, not bothering to answer her question.
Despite the fear, Elysia kept her composure. Unlike Dorian, she clearly saw how desperate their situation was.
"So, what is your name? You better answer," he asked, annoyed.
"Elysia Lennora," she replied before adding, "And you... what is your name?"
Upon hearing this question, the whole group tensed, unsure of his reaction.
After a moment of silence, he spoke. "You can call me Akira, and the woman over there is Yumi... So, tell me, where are we?"
"We are inside a Rank S gate, this place is the lair of the succubus Morgath," Elysia calmly explained.
Upon hearing those words, his eyes widened for a moment before returning to calm.
"Tell me about what you call a 'gate,'" he asked, looking for a place to sit. Yumi, on the other hand, observed every move he made, a smirk on her face.
Elysia, still shocked by the revelations, took a deep breath before responding. "The gate you're talking about is actually a passage to other dimensions....."
As she explained, Mira knelt next to Dorian, examining him carefully. "Are you okay, Dorian?" she asked softly, trying to check on his condition.
Dorian, still pale and trembling, nodded, "I think so, but... what is really happening?"
Thalia, with a pale face, intervened, "We shouldn't anger them. They seem... different."
Kael, still angry, retorted, "They didn't come through the portals, look at them! They don't even seem to know what it is."
Elera, intrigued by this idea, then asked, "So, do you mean they could be aliens?"
At that moment, Nox, with a worried look, added, "I have a bad feeling..."
Galen, curious, asked him, "What do you mean?"
Nox then recalled what Emily had mentioned earlier. "She mentioned something like this in her prophecy..."
The group, stunned, fell into a heavy silence. Mira finally broke the silence, her voice trembling, "Do you think they are the ones who will destroy the Earth?"
Nox, trying to remain rational, replied, "It would be good news if I'm wrong, but at worst, it would be our end. They arrived well before the two weeks predicted."
All their faces paled at the thought.
Suddenly, Yumi's voice was heard, "That's quite an interesting discussion, may I join in?"
The group tensed at the sight of this woman crouched near Mira, not realizing her presence until she spoke.
With a smile, Yumi continued, "No need to be so wary."
Nox, taking a moment to compose himself, asked, "W-What is your objective?"
"It's a secret," Yumi replied with a smile. "I would like to know more about this famous prophecy."
Biting her lips in frustration, Alan began to explain what he knew. After saying everything, he looked up and paled at seeing Yumi's smile.
"So you can also predict the future! You are fascinating," she declared, amused.
"What do you mean by predicting the future? Are you implying all of this is true?" Dorian yelled, angry.
"Yes, it's true," Yumi replied as if it were a normal thing.
"Why bother keeping us alive and telling us all this if you're going to destroy us?" Mira asked, tears in her eyes.
"If it were up to me, you would already be dead, but I'm just observing and following his decision," Yumi explained, before looking at Akira talking to Elysia in a corner. "To be honest, even if his decision is to spare you, you won't be able to escape your fate... good luck," she concluded before returning to her place.
"Damn it, damn it!" Dorian cried out, hitting the ground.
At that moment, Elysia finished her explanation, and on Akira's order, she joined the others. After fifteen minutes, her face turned pale, and she looked at Akira.
"What did you tell them?" Akira asked, intrigued.
"Nothing... I simply said what our objective was, since they were already aware of their fate," Elysia replied.
"What do you mean?" Akira asked.
"Apparently, they possess some kind of power capable of predicting the future, and they were already aware that their world was doomed to perish."
"I see," Akira acknowledged.
"You seemed to know a lot for someone who has never set foot outside..." she said with a mischievous smile. "You seemed surprised when she mentioned gates, especially talking about this country named Korea," she added, squinting her eyes.
"You think too much," Akira replied curtly.
"Maybe, after all, I must have been mistaken," Yumi admitted with a slight laugh.
"Alright... We should go now," Akira said, joining Elysia and the others, who looked at him with suspicion and fear.
"You're a bad liar," Yumi whispered, following Akira, looking at him with an amused expression.
