Chapter 1: Prologue (Ch.1)
Had anyone told me I would die so young, that I would have my life cut short so brutally, that I would leave the world of the living having only horrible memories of my pathetic excuse of a life... I would never have believed them.
What was the mortal life? It was merely a fleeting dream that passed by in a flash, leaving one wondering if it ever even truly happened.
However for many this short and fleeting dream was worth it all, it was worth it because it was filled with happiness and laughter and love and light and all those heartwarming feelings in between,
And then there was me, there was me who instead of a fleeting dream, fate slammed a nightmare down on my table.
But still, it was my nightmare...my life to live, mine alone and as empty, painful, unloved and emotionally draining as my life was...no one had the right to end it for me.
It was my choice to make! To live or to die, it should have always been my choice! It was my own life!
Yet why did I never get to make a single choice for myself? Why was my fate decided by people who barely even had their own lives figured out?!
Why did I have to die before I even truly began to live...
I am Princess Neveah Omega Lothaire but everyone called me Omega,
The wolfless runt of the Eclipse Fang Pack, bastard child of the Alpha King and this is how I died...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Neveah strolled through the vast herb field, the familiar scent of medicinal herbs filled her nostrils and Neveah took a deep breath in, savoring the rich and potent scent.
This was a scent Neveah had grown accustomed to in the past two months at the healer tribe.
The healer tribe was a tribe of nomadic omega wolves born without the ability to shift but with the gift of healing.
Although the healer tribe was not highly respected, they were equally not looked down upon due to the rarity of their ability.
They were a reclusive tribe and hardly associated with the rest of the supernatural realm unless in the course of executing their duties.
The healer tribe Neveah resided with was the healer tribe of the Eclipse domain and Neveah knew the only reason they even accepted to have Neveah reside with them was because they could not disobey the orders of Neveah's father... Alpha King Lothaire Raul, ruler of the Eclipse domain.
The supernatural world was vast, filled with all kinds of supernatural species and each specie had their own territory.
For the Wolf shifters, their vast territory was divided into four domains each ruled by an Alpha King, each domain ruled independent of the others and all four Alpha Kings possessed almost equal power and authority.
The Winter domain ruled by the Winter Alpha King Jodan Nafan was the Northern territory of the Wolf shifters.
The Shadow domain ruled by the Shadow Alpha King Rhysand Clave occupied the Eastern territory of the Wolf shifters.
The Ethereal domain ruled by the Ethereal Alpha King, Kieran Thayer occupied the Western territory of the Wolf shifters.
And the Eclipse domain ruled by Neveah's father, the Eclipse Alpha King, Lothaire Raul was the Southern territory of the Wolf shifters.
Each domain also had their own healer tribe, formed by the wolfless omegas of the wolf packs consisting the domain who were blessed by the creator with the gift of healing.
Neveah herself was not certain she had the healing ability, although her father had sent her to be trained by the healer tribe two months ago, for some reason he believed Neveah possessed the gift of healing.
However Neveah knew better, her father's misunderstanding had stemmed from an incident that had occured some months ago when the Alpha Queen had made her hundredth unsuccessful attempt to end Neveah's life.
Neveah recalled how the dagger thrown her way by her beloved step mother had pierced through her shoulder, tearing painfully through her flesh, blood dripping down her hand.
Neveah had bit her lip to hold back her scream of pain, unwilling to give her step mother the satisfaction of seeing her scream.
When questioned by Neveah's father, Neveah recalled how the Alpha Queen had claimed Neveah was too slow witted and useless to dodge the dagger.
Thinking about it now, Neveah wondered just how possible it was for a wolfless omega to escape an attack from a powerful Alpha Queen.
However the moment the dagger had been pulled out, Neveah had placed a hand over her bleeding shoulder and in the blink of an eye, the gaping wound had healed completely.
Much to her father's delight and the wrath of his mate, Neveah had displayed the ability of a healer and so she had been shipped off to train her ability.
However to Neveah, that had been an event where she had narrowly escaped having her most closely guarded secret exposed.
Neveah knew she was no healer, not at all... Neveah had only healed so quickly because the healing ability of an Alpha wolf was unprecedented.
Yes, Neveah had posed to be a wolfless omega all her life, she had pretended she had never shifted and was entirely human just as her mother was but this was far from the truth.
Neveah had shifted first at the age of five, all alone with no one around her and she had shifted into an Alpha wolf.
The Alpha wolf which should rightfully have belonged to her step brother as the next Alpha King of the Eclipse domain, Neveah had inherited it instead.
Neveah had been young then, but not so young that she did not understand the implications of this and so Neveah had shut off her wolf side, never shifting again after that first shift.
Neveah knew she could never let the Alpha Queen discover that she had the Alpha wolf, it was the only way to protect her own life.
And so Neveah had kept this secret to herself, accepting the title of a wolfless Omega, it was a better choice than revealing her Alpha wolf and making an enemy of the Alpha Queen or at least more of an enemy than they already were.
What had happened in that event was due to Neveah's Alpha wolf but believing Neveah was human like her mother had been, her father had concluded it was the manifestation of the healing ability.
Regardless of the situation and the fact that the omega healers also detested Neveah and settled to ignore her presence for the past two months, Neveah was relieved to have finally left the suffocating walls of the Eclipse palace but Neveah was not sure for how long.
"Omega!"
Neveah froze in her step as she heard a familiar voice call out her middle name, although Neveah knew when they called her Omega, they did not refer to her middle name at all but rather the title Omega... the wolfless runt of the pack.
Neveah turned slowly, she was hardly surprised to see the familar face of one of her father's most trusted warriors and also one of the warrior wolves of the Eclipse Fang Pack who completely loathed her existence.
Neveah took in the fact that he was bare chested, she did not let her gaze venture any lower knowing it would produce much the same result.
Neveah could see he had only just arrived the healer tribe and had not had time to get dressed after shifting back to his human form.
"Have you ever heard of the word decency, Lado?" Neveah asked in a distasteful tone, keeping her eyes fixed on his face as he approached her.
"A true wolf shifter is hardly burdened by the nudity of another, we are confident in our own skin...but a wolfless omega would not understand that, would you?" Lado countered in an equally distasteful tone.
From his expression, Neveah could see he would much rather be anywhere that near the embarrassment of the Eclipse Fang Pack,
But when the embarrassment was still the daughter of the Alpha King, there was not much that could be done.
Neveah snickered in amusement, tilting her head to the side curiously.
"Just what tempestuous wind blew warrior Lado my way?" Neveah asked.
"The Alpha King summons you back to the Eclipse palace immediately." Lado conveyed the orders in a stiff tone.
"My father misses me already?" Neveah asked in a sarcastic tone.
"I have not come to engage in meaningless conversation with you Omega." Lado replied, his tone still tight and tinged with annoyance.
"Fine, I will fetch my things and inform my teacher of my departure." Neveah said as she turned to leave.
"We both know nobody gives a shit about you here and as I have said, the Alpha King's orders were to fetch you immediately." Lado snapped impatiently.
"Then my father owes me ten new clothing." Neveah replied with a sigh as she watched Lado whistle and a horse bounded towards them.
"A horse? Really?" Neveah asked with a roll of her eyes.
"You don't actually believe I would let you ride my back, do you?" Lado asked with a scoff, Neveah shrugged casually.
"Would have been one hell of a ride but I guess a horse is good too," Neveah replied as she climbed astride the horse.
Neveah watched as Lado shifted, his bones cracking and reforming and fur sprouting out of his skin, in the blink of an eye, in Lado's place stood a large grey wolf.
The wolf jerked it's large wolf head, gesturing for Neveah to move along and Neveah sighed before she stirred the horse into a gallop, leaving behind the vast herb field she had come to cherish...
Had she known then that she would never see them again, that she would not return alive from this trip, perhaps Neveah never would have left.
