Logue Town's iconic landmark, the execution platform.
More than twenty years ago, the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, was publicly executed here. Ace stood before the platform, his expression solemn.
"This is the execution platform, where the Pirate King was executed," Tashigi said, pointing to it.
Without warning, Ace leaped into the air, landing gracefully atop the execution platform.
"W-What?!" Tashigi gasped in shock, then quickly realized what had happened. "Ace-san! You can't be up there! Come down immediately!" she shouted, anxiously running to the base of the platform.
But Ace remained silent, sitting cross-legged at the top. He ran his hand over the wooden structure, a small smirk forming on his lips.
"So, this is where it happened?" he murmured, staring at the platform. The place where Gol D. Roger, the father he never knew, met his end.
Roger, already terminally ill, had chosen to die here, using his final moments to usher in the Great Pirate Era.
"Hmph, a fitting end for someone like you," Ace muttered, closing his eyes.
Suddenly, a vivid scene unfolded in his mind.
——
The square was packed with people, all staring at the execution platform with a mix of fear and anticipation. Reporters and video recorders focused intently on the man standing at the top.
"Hey! Pirate King! Where's the treasure? The One Piece!" someone in the crowd shouted, his voice filled with nervous excitement.
Gol D. Roger, with a Haki-filled grin, looked down at the crowd.
"Do you want my treasure? If you want it, you can have it. Go and find it! I left it all there!"
His laughter echoed across the world.
——
In an instant, the vision shattered.
——
Ace opened his eyes, his expression hardening.
"You used your life to spark the Great Pirate Era. Now, it's my turn to end it."
His eyes gleamed with a deep, purple-black hue, a surge of energy radiating from him.
Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, dark clouds gathered over Logue Town, crackling with thunder as the sky darkened. The people below looked up in shock as lightning snaked through the clouds.
"Tashigi!" a voice shouted. Smoker, leading a group of Marines, rushed toward the scene.
"Get away from that man, you fool!" Smoker yelled.
"Huh? Colonel Smoker? Why? Ace-san is a good person," Tashigi said, turning to him, confused.
"You idiot! That 'good person' is Portgas D. Ace, a pirate with a 35 million bounty!" Smoker roared.
Gasps echoed through the crowd as panic spread.
A 35 million bounty?! The realization hit Tashigi like a brick.
Frozen in place, Tashigi stared at Ace, struggling to process the truth.
"Ace-san… is a pirate? But… he said he wanted to end the pirate era… How could he be one himself?" she thought, feeling utterly betrayed.
At that moment, Ace jumped down from the platform, his purple-black eyes locking onto Tashigi's. Her body stiffened before she fainted.
"Tashigi!" Smoker shouted.
"You scum! Are you trying to use her as a hostage?!" Smoker bellowed furiously.
Ace didn't bother acknowledging him. Instead, he glanced toward Nami and her group, who were hiding nearby, watching the events unfold.
"Nami!" Ace called out.
"What's the deal with this girl?" Nami asked, running toward him after hearing her name called, though her confusion was evident.
"Take her back to the ship," Ace instructed, cradling the unconscious Tashigi.
"What? Who is she? And what are you planning?" Nami asked, still wary.
"Just take her. I'll explain later."
"Fine, fine," Nami sighed, rolling her eyes, but she obeyed, taking Tashigi from Ace's arms and heading toward the dock.
"What about you, Captain?" Nojiko asked, as she held her gun.
"I'll join you soon," Ace replied, his voice calm but laced with power. His purple-black aura swirled around him, growing denser by the second.
Nojiko nodded, grabbing Kaya's hand as they ran toward the Going Merry. "Let's go. The captain will handle the rest."
——
"Stop!" Smoker commanded, moving to chase them. But in an instant, Ace blocked his path.
"Portgas D. Ace! It seems that I can't save my men until I kill you."
"White Fist!"
Smoker launched his attack, his smoke-covered fist hurtling toward Ace. Smoker smirked, convinced the fight would soon be over.
But just as his attack landed, Ace's body transformed into flames, harmlessly dispersing the blow.
"What?!" Smoker exclaimed in shock.
"So you're also a Logia user?!" Smoker growled through clenched teeth.
"It seems you don't read the news." Ace replied calmly, his smile unfazed. "Then let me tell you, Although the navy called me Fire Fist, I don't like it, I prefer 'Flame Emperor,' Portgas D. Ace. You can call me that in the future~"
"Flame Emperor? Just you?!" Smoker scoffed, but before he could say more, his expression changed.
"Buzz! Boom!"
Ace's purple-black aura burst forth, roaring like thunder as it took form around him.
Boom!
A wave of immense pressure swept across the square, and the dark clouds above began to swirl violently, parting as if torn by an unseen force.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
One by one, the Marines around the square collapsed, their bodies crumpling under the sheer force of Ace's Haki.
"Conqueror's… Haki?!" Smoker gasped, half-kneeling, his body trembling under the overwhelming pressure. He looked up at Ace, struggling to stay conscious.
"How… does a rookie pirate from the East Blue… have Conqueror's Haki!? And with such intensity… even I…!" Smoker's voice trailed off as he too lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground.
