One Piece: Heaven-Defying Talent

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Supersonic Training - The Path to Haki Mastery

Clang!

The blade struck Chiba's finger, producing a metallic sound. He inspected his index finger—only a faint white mark remained.

Chiba released the Armament Haki, and not even a hair on his finger was harmed. Nodding with satisfaction, he thought, The power of Armament Haki is truly formidable. However, it was draining, and after three months of continuous work, his body and spirit were weakened. Even using such a small amount of Haki left him feeling exhausted.

No matter how powerful an ability is, it requires a strong body to support it.

In his previous life, Chiba had studied traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and understood the body's structure from a holistic perspective. According to TCM, the human body is like a miniature universe. The food we consume is digested, producing five essential energies stored within the five internal organs. These energies, when cultivated through practices like the Five Animal Frolics and Tai Chi, could be converted into spiritual power.

People who practiced these internal arts had sharp senses, a clear mind, and a vibrant, spirited look in their eyes—a sign of their abundant spiritual energy. Thus, if one wished to cultivate strong spiritual power, one's body and internal organs needed to be robust.

His next step was clear: physical training.

Marine Headquarters possessed the most advanced body conditioning methods in the One Piece World. At its peak, these methods could even unlock the Marine Six Styles—an advanced combat technique. Mastering all these styles would allow a Marine to fight on equal terms with Devil Fruit users.

However, the Marine Six Styles were a closely guarded secret, accessible only to Marines who had made significant contributions or those seen as the Marine's future elite. Chiba, being neither, would not normally have access to them—but he was Garp's grandson. That connection alone meant resources were automatically directed his way.

Yet, Chiba wasn't interested in the Marine Six Styles at the moment; he only needed the foundational body conditioning techniques. With his heaven-defying comprehension ability, he was confident he could develop an even more powerful body training system.

He set about simplifying his rapid Armament Haki training method, removing complex movements and awkward incantations, and refining the breathing technique. The result was a simplified version that still increased training speed tenfold. With this method, even Marines with basic potential could have the chance to cultivate Haki.

This discovery could potentially multiply the overall strength of the Marines tenfold—a truly terrifying prospect.

Boom!

Inside the Marshal's office at Marine Headquarters, Sengoku slammed his fist on the table, his face contorted with anger as he glared at Garp, who sat comfortably on the sofa.

"Garp, I've tolerated a lot, including you privately promoting your grandson Chiba to the rank of major. But the information on General Marine's Armament Haki training is a classified, top-level secret! You gave him access to such confidential documents—do you still respect the rules, or even acknowledge my authority as marshal? I demand an explanation!"

Garp, unfazed by Sengoku's rage, casually picked at his ear with his pinky finger. "It's just a bunch of old papers, isn't it? They're not even good enough to wipe an old man's behind. When the kid's done with them, he'll give them back."

He leaned back, adding, "Besides, that brat's researching a method so that ordinary Marines can cultivate Haki."

"Rubbish! Do you think Haki is some common ability that anyone can master? For hundreds of years, we've had brilliant Marines—each more talented than the last. None of them managed to develop a method for ordinary soldiers to awaken Haki. And you think your grandson, with his limited experience, can achieve that?"

Garp paused his casual demeanor, giving Sengoku a sideways look. "That's my grandson. If he wants something, I'll give it to him. What are you going to do about it?"

Sengoku's face turned a darker shade of red, his voice rising. "I may not be able to do much against you, but your grandson? I'll strip him of his rank and dismantle his research room immediately!"

"Don't you dare." Garp rolled up his sleeves, eyes flashing. Just as he prepared to confront Sengoku, a non-commissioned officer burst into the room.

"Marshal, Major Chiba has reported that he has developed a method for ordinary Marines to cultivate Armament Haki and requests to present it to you personally."

Both Sengoku and Garp were momentarily stunned.

"What did you just say?" Sengoku's voice softened, disbelief etched across his face. "That kid—Chiba—claims he's developed a method for ordinary Marines to cultivate Armament Haki? Impossible!"

"Let him in." Sengoku motioned for the officer to proceed. He turned back to Garp with a smirk. "Your grandson—he's picked up the habit of lying. Garp, I'll save you the embarrassment. Take him home; Marines don't need liars. If you really want him in the Marines, he'll start from the bottom—just like you and I did."

Garp crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. "Let's see what the boy's got before jumping to conclusions."

"Oh, come on, Garp. Do you honestly believe he's developed a method for ordinary soldiers to cultivate Haki? You're deluded. But fine, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hear him out. However, don't expect the outcome to change."
