Chapter 49: Chapter 44 : Banana Island!!
"How boring."
Yamato slumped listlessly against the ship's railing, staring vacantly at the endless expanse of the sea.
She looked utterly deflated, like a cabbage that had been exposed to the scorching sun for two days—just wilted and exhausted.
"Ugh, so boring!!"
She sounded like a kid stuck visiting relatives during the New Year without a phone to play with.
"Weren't we supposed to never get tired of this?"
On the deck behind Yamato, Ian lounged under an open sun umbrella, wearing a floral shirt and beach shorts, with a pair of yellow sunglasses perched on his nose. He looked like a carefree teenager on a tropical cruise.
He leisurely flipped through a book while sipping on a glass of chilled orange juice specially made by the ship's chef. The cool, tangy liquid slid down his throat, bringing a refreshing sensation that made him smile. "It's only been a week."
Today marked the seventh day since they left Wano Country.
A few days ago, Yamato was brimming with excitement, eager to wave at every seagull that flew by and spending hours running across the sea like a wild dog.
But that enthusiasm lasted only three days.
By the fourth day, Yamato began to feel bored.
It's understandable; sailing on the open sea means all you see is an endless expanse of blue. No matter how beautiful the sea is, it eventually becomes monotonous.
Fortunately, since they were in the New World, a storm, snow, or hail usually rolled in every few hours, providing her with some excitement and a taste of nature's challenges. Otherwise, Yamato would have become bored even faster.
"Anyway, it's just so boring!"
Yamato puffed up her cheeks and turned to Ian with a fiery look in her eyes. "Ian! Let's fight!"
When she was truly bored, she wanted to challenge Ian just to pass the time.
"Not a chance," Ian rolled his eyes. "It's boring."
"Eh? Why not?"
Yamato was puzzled.
"Yamato onee-san!"
At that moment, Jack, who had been pumping iron on the side of the deck, stood up, dripping with sweat and volunteered eagerly, "Let me fight you!"
"Absolutely not."
Yamato didn't hesitate. "It's boring; Jack is too weak!"
Jack felt like he'd been shot in the chest, stumbling and sitting down hard on the ground.
Too… too weak!
He clenched his teeth.
"I need to become stronger too!"
He worked out even more intensely.
"Ian!"
Yamato rushed to Ian's side, grabbing onto his recliner. "Come on, come on!"
Why should I come? Didn't you already give the answer?
It's boring.
It's a little difficult to deal with Yamato without using my abilities, but even if I do use them, Yamato can't even hurt himself.
Irritated, Ian shouted, "Babanuki!"
"Lord Ian!"
Babanuki hurried over. "What can I do for you?"
"How much longer until we reach Beehive Island?" Ian asked.
Yamato immediately turned to Babanuki as well.
She was even more impatient.
"We've traveled about halfway," Babanuki quickly replied. "It should take us another week to reach Beehive Island."
"Another week?"
Yamato's face fell instantly.
"Are there any islands nearby?"
Ian inquired.
Yamato's eyes lit up, and she focused intently on Babanuki.
Babanuki, under her intense gaze, began to sweat nervously. If he didn't provide an answer that satisfied Miss Yamato, would she get rid of him?
"Yes, yes!"
Babanuki quickly said, "About eighty nautical miles ahead, there is a small island with a town on it. Many pirates use it as a supply point."
"Then let's check it out."
Ian decided.
Eighty nautical miles isn't that far off course.
Kaido-sensei shouldn't have any objections.
Besides, while out here, orders from the Shogun don't apply!
Wait, I am the ruler of Wano Country, aren't I?
"Yes."
Babanuki nodded. "I'll have the helmsman change course immediately."
"Yay!!"
Yamato cheered, throwing herself onto Ian's lap. "Ian! You're the best!"
"Got it, got it."
Ian's expression remained neutral.
The fragrant scent and the softness of the girl's body didn't even make him blink.
He was used to it.
...
The island was called Banana Island because, from above, its outline resembled a banana, and the lack of vegetation made the yellow rocky mountains look exactly like a banana.
In the middle of this giant banana, on a small plain beneath the rocky mountains, a small town was situated.
The town wasn't large, but it had everything needed—a tavern, a general store, a dock, a weapon shop, and a hospital. Although they were quite rudimentary, they were sufficient for the pirates who frequented this island.
Some pirates were fishing at the dock, enjoying a rare moment of relaxation.
It was during this time that the Winged Dragon ship approached the dock.
"Hey! Look!"
The first to notice the arrival of the ship were the pirates fishing at the dock. "What a huge ship!"
The golden-yellow ship, over three hundred meters long, looked like a moving fortress on the sea, impossible to ignore.
What's more critical was—
"Th-That's!!"
A pirate with a telescope suddenly turned pale. "The flag of the Beasts Pirates! It's the Beasts Pirates' ship!!"
"What!!"
The dock was instantly in an uproar.
There was no mistake. On the mast of the massive sea vessel was a flag with a skull and large horns!
It was indeed the flag of the Beasts Pirates!
"The Beasts Pirates have arrived! The Beasts Pirates' ship has docked!"
The news spread like wildfire through the town.
Some pirates fled at the rumor.
But many others gathered at the port.
After all, it was the Beasts Pirates! How could they not see it for themselves?
The Winged Dragon ship slowly docked at the town's pier.
"We've arrived!"
Amidst the eager gazes of the pirates gathered at the dock, a young girl jumped down from the ship's deck, excitedly cheering, "Are there any fun places on this island?"
"Such youth!"
"She's just a little kid who hasn't even weaned yet!"
This was the first impression the pirates had of Yamato.
"It's just a small town, don't expect too much."
Another young man slowly descended the stairs from the deck, followed by two unusually tall kids, a boy and a girl.
Four kids?
"Lord Ian! Miss Yamato! I will guard the ship here, so you can enjoy your time without worry."
At this moment, the man on the deck who spoke respectfully to the kids made the pirates feel more of a powerful presence. His strong build, dark skin, and rugged appearance truly embodied a pirate!
Ian didn't look back; he just waved his right hand in acknowledgment to Babanuki.
"Let's go check out the town!"
Yamato eagerly tugged at Ian's hand, urging him forward. "Come on, Ian! I've had enough of being on the ship!"
"There's so many people."
Black Maria followed behind them, curiously observing the people on the dock. "Are they all pirates? Babanuki said this is a gathering place for pirate crews."
Seeing pirates from overseas was a first for her.
Jack was more concerned with another matter: among these pirates, were there any worth fighting?
Ian said nothing and continued observing silently.
"Hey, kid, are you from the Beasts Pirates?"
A group of pirates who had come to watch the Beasts Pirates stepped forward and blocked the path of the four.
The leader was a burly man wielding a massive iron hammer, towering over four meters tall, twice as tall as Ian. He looked down at Ian and Yamato with a sinister grin.
"That's Heavy Hammer Heim! His bounty is nearly forty million, right?"
The pirates behind him whispered among themselves,
"What does he want? Does he want to join the Beasts Pirates?"
"It doesn't seem like it."
"Hmm?"
Yamato looked up, confused, and nodded matter-of-factly. "That's right! I'm Yamato!"
Ian rolled his eyes. No one asked for your introduction.
"Hahahahaha! So, you're really a kid from the Beasts Pirates?"
Heavy Hammer Heim burst into laughter, tightening his grip on the handle of his massive hammer. "Great, great! So, if I defeat you guys, I'll make a name for myself on the seas, right!!"
Without hesitation, taking advantage of Yamato's unpreparedness, the enormous iron hammer came crashing down.
Ian raised an eyebrow. "Ah, here comes the world's unique breed of bloodthirsty pirates."
The pirate in front of him had an audacious gaze, arrogant words, and a nonsensical grin. It was clear he was one of the top scoundrels among the lowly pirates.
Whether facing a Marine Admiral or a Pirate Emperor, he would seize any opportunity to strike.
The surrounding pirates gasped in surprise.
The so-called "Heavy Hammer" pirate's weapon was shattered instantly.
A delicate, pale fist wrapped in invisible energy smashed the hammer. As the fist's owner leaped into the air, the fist landed squarely on Heim's face.
Heim, with a bounty nearing forty million, had his cheek dented instantly. His facial bones were pulverized, and he spiraled into the air before crashing heavily to the ground.
"Eh!!"
The pirates at the dock nearly had their eyes pop out.
A one-hit kill?
No matter how you look at it, Heim was a pirate with a bounty close to forty million!
And this young girl?
"The local pirates are really unfriendly!"
Yamato landed happily, eagerly eyeing the astonished pirates, and reached for the spiked club on her back. "So, do you want to fight with us? Great! Let's have some fun!"
The girl sprang forward, charging at all the pirates in sight.
Though I have a feeling that's not quite what they meant.
But it doesn't matter; as long as she stops complaining about boredom.
Meanwhile, at the town's bar, the door burst open as a man rushed in.
"Boss Squard! A ship from the Beast Pirates has landed!!"
