Chapter 41: Anomaly
Jon's punch speed was astonishing and extremely methodical.
In an instant, his attacks were like a sudden storm!
Tanjiro and Jubei subconsciously swallowed their saliva.
So fierce!
Mere demons were no match for Jon.
The Ripple techniques were at full throttle.
In less than three minutes, the battle ended.
Jon let out a sigh.
Turning his head, he glanced at the two teenagers and smiled, "Okay, it's done."
Upon hearing this, Tanjiro and Jubei were somewhat puzzled.
Jon paused, then explained, "What I mean is, it's all over."
"Thank you very much for saving us!"
Jubei could finally rest easy. His face was full of gratitude as he spoke, "Thank your for your kindness. I, Hashibira Jubei, will never forget your kindness!"
Jon waved his hand.
"No need for that, I just did what I could."
Pausing, he continued, "By the way, do you know which direction leads to the exit of Mt. Fujikasane?"
"You're leaving?"
Tanjiro and Jubei were very confused.
With such skills, killing demons was as easy as pie. The person in front of them was basically ensured to join the Demon Slayer Corps! Why leave?
"I think you misunderstanding something? I'm not here for..."
Jon was about to explain.
Just then, the awkward sound of 'growl' suddenly rang out.
Tanjiro blushed and covered his stomach apologetically, "Sorry."
Jon cleared his throat.
"Anyway, I'm not here to participate in the Demon Slayer Corps selection."
"Gurgle gurgle~"
"I just happened to be here by mistake."
"Gurgle gurgle~"
"I…"
"Gurgle gurgle~"
"…."
"Gurgle gurgle~"
It suddenly got silent.
Jon glanced at the silent Tanjiro, feeling helpless, "Well, I'm also hungry. Let's eat and talk."
Inside Jon's 'Personal Space,' he basically had everything ready.
Fresh ingredients, pots and pans, seasonings, everything was there.
Tanjiro and Jubei were spechless a they stared at this person that conjured up various items out of thin air. Their eyes nearly popped out in surprise!
Jon chuckled to himself.
Before long, a steaming pot of mixed vegetables was ready.
The two teenagers drooled upon seeing it.
"Don't be modest, dig in." Jon reached out to invite them, "You need strength to talk."
Tanjiro and Jubei glanced at each other and said in unison, "Thanks for the food!"
Having a picnic in such an eerie place had its own unique charm.
Jon held a bowl in his left hand and 'Raiu' in his right.
If an enemy attacked, he would strike at will.
Each time he swung his sword, a demon would perish!
Jon: Impressed, kids?
Tanjiro and Jubei: Too scared to move.
A potful of vegetables was devoured clean by the two teenagers, and the demons around were also killed off by Jon.
Through conversation, Tanjiro and Jubei learned the name of the unfamiliar person who had stumbled into this place: Jon Joestar.
"Jon, thank you for your hospitality." Tanjiro bowed politely, "I will resume this selection. I wish you good luck."
"Just a moment."
Unexpectedly, Jon stopped him.
Tanjiro blinked, "Hmm?"
"The requirement to pass the Demon Slayer Corps Selection is to survive for seven days, and they didn't say we couldn't team up."
Jon emphasized, "Going solo won't get you anywhere; you have to learn to fight as a team."
Fight as a team?
Tanjiro was puzzled.
Jubei rolled his eyes and interjected, "I think what Jon means is cooperate."
"An astute observation."
Jon casually grabbed a handful of Jubei's hair.
Indeed, he was the extra who originally abandoned Tanjiro and ran away alone in the original plot. His brain was quite clever.
"Oh, that's..."
Tanjiro's belief was once again severely shaken.
Jon struck while the iron was hot, "A chopstick is easy to break, but ten chopsticks are hard to break.
An individual's strength is limited, but the strength of a team is infinite."
"Yes, yes, yes!" Jubei enthusiastically agreed.
Jubei was basically relying on Jon and Tanjiro.
Tanjiro remained silent for a moment.
After contemplating for a while, he shook his head and politely declined, "Jon, what you said makes sense. However, I have my own reasons to become stronger, so..."
"You really are stubborn." Jon glanced at Tanjiro mockingly, "Go on, don't bother me here."
"Take care, Jon."
Tanjiro bowed once again.
After gesturing to Jubei, their figures gradually blended into the night.
"Let's go, we're leaving."
There were always some people who wouldn't be swayed by others' opinions, and Jon didn't push his luck.
With a nod to Jubei, the two headed towards the exit of Mt. Fujikasane.
Along the way, seven or eight young boys and girls who were being chased by demons joined the group.
Jon took the lead.
The demons were vanquished while they were still laughing.
"So strong!"
"Such exquisite swordsmanship! What an unparalleled skill!"
"Not only that, but the Breathing Techniques Jon used are unheard of."
Although they were a bunch of misfits, people like Jubei could still figure out that much.
In their eyes, Jon, who casually killed dozens of demons, was already far more powerful than their own trainers!
They fought their way to the exit.
They were nearing the exit when suddenly, a figure leaped out from the side of the road.
"Help!"
The person who had yellow clothes and hair, and was armed with a long sword.
Although his appearance was quite delicate, there was a hint of cowardice and disdain between his brows.
Jon chuckled.
Wasn't this the favorite phrase of the whimsical marketing account, 'Concentrate and reach the top'?
"Save me!"
Zenitsu Agatsuma rushed out, without saying a word, and directly hugged Jon's thigh.
Jon twitched his mouth and made a casual slash.
Overdrive-enhanced Flying Slash!
The demon fell with a groan, turning into flying ash.
Zenitsu Agatsuma stared blankly for a few seconds, then wiped his tears and snot on Jon's pants, "Thank you, thank you! I'm so grateful to you! You're truly my savior! Waaah!"
Couldn't we be a bit more hygienic when speaking?
Jon looked down at his pants, worth twenty thousand yen, and reached out to pat Zenitsu's head.
"Alright, it's all over now. If you want to leave this cursed place, just follow me."
"Mhm, mhm."
Zenitsu Agatsuma nodded hastily.
At the same time, outside Mt. Fujikasane, at the shrine.
"The demon aura in the mountain has dissipated a lot."
"That's right, just like that."
"It seems that something unexpected has happened."
"Yes, you're right."
"Should we inform the master?"
"Of course."
"It's also better to inform the Hashira."
"Let's do that."
"Yes, let's."
With that said, the two young girls who were responsible for welcoming newcomers summoned a crow and wrote a short letter, which they tucked into the leg pouch of the crow.
Before long, a stern-faced young man with black hair climbed the steps.
The two young girls bowed slightly.
"Lord Giyu, long time no see."
Tomioka Giyu placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and cautiously scanned the surroundings.
"So, where is this anomaly mentioned in the letter?"
