Chapter 12 - Great Boss Battle
“With these stats, I should be able to defeat the great boss on the 9th floor.”
With the power of the King, I should be able to win against the great boss. Kenya’s confidence grew, but in reality, C-rank equipment was excessive for the 9th floor’s great boss.
This equipment is originally meant for after the 20th floor. It appears in areas conquered by top-tier adventurers.
Although it’s not meant for solo battles, Kenya should be capable now. So, he decided to challenge the great boss.
(Ai might get angry? But if I don’t go now, I’m not an adventurer.)
Kenya, taking an action not in his plans, couldn’t suppress his excitement. After all, this is a dungeon, a place to chase dreams.
On the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors, there are higher-ranked goblins like hobgoblins and goblin knights. However…
“Hah!”
“Gyahhh!”
They were cut down with a single stroke.
“This weapon is so easy to use. As expected of a weapon for Japanese people.”
Kenya muttered, looking at the Japanese sword. Though it’s not actually a weapon meant for Japanese people, a weapon named after Japan was astonishingly easy to use.
It felt as if it fit perfectly, as if it had been used many times before. Combined with the power of the King, the higher-ranked goblins were defeated in one blow.
As expected of equipment for the 20th floor. On this floor, it’s almost like cheating.
Kenya continued to conquer the dungeon, finally arriving at his destination. Progressing at a pace of about one hour per floor, Kenya reached the 9th floor.
Passing through the red gate, this is the 9th floor. The room of the great boss. The enormous door with ominous patterns, larger and more majestic than the mid-boss room’s door, indicates this is the room of the great boss.
And next to that door, a girl was sitting, huddled.
“Ah, finally someone came…”
The girl looked up at me and said, as if seeking help.
The girl had semi-long hair with a slight brown tinge and colored contact lenses? With large eyes like those in shoujo manga, pale skin, and red lips. She had what is called “yami makeup” that gave her a yandere look. Her ears were adorned with numerous piercings.
In one word, she looked like a typical mentally unstable girl. In this dungeon, why was she dressed so lightly in a black T-shirt and shorts? The shirt was long, so the shorts weren’t visible. All that could be seen were her thin, sickly white legs.
Cute. She was definitely cute, but… it’s probably best not to get involved with her.
This is probably what they call a “landmine girl.” Kenya’s intuition rang alarm bells, shaking his head to avoid being deceived by her dangerous allure.
Then, he lightly bowed and quickly tried to open the door.
“Um, could you help me?”
The girl stood up and approached me.
“H-help you?”
Kenya took a step back and repeated her words.
“The people I came with left me behind…”
“Th-that’s terrible.”
Kenya was shocked, thinking that could almost be considered murder, and felt sorry for the girl. That’s why she was sitting alone like that.
(Why do I feel like I can’t leave her alone…)
The girl, who aroused a protective instinct, overlapped slightly with Kenya, who had once been abandoned and cast aside.
“Alright, I’ll take you with me to the 10th floor.”
“R-really? But are you alone? Are you okay? I can’t fight…”
“I think I’ll be fine. Just wait in the corner, okay?”
“O-okay…”
The girl looked at me worriedly. When I saw her face, I made a troubled face, and she forced a smile. That smile looked so fragile and sad, as if it had been forced many times before.
My heart tightened. I knew that face. It’s the face of someone enduring their weakness, still trying to smile at others.
(Let’s hear her story later. For now, let’s head to the 10th floor.)
Kenya opened the door. At the center stood the goblins’ commander. The Goblin General.
The goblin general sat at the center of the round area. As I stepped into the area, the torches placed around the room lit up. The pale blue light illuminated the room, and the door closed.
At that sound, the goblin stood up and roared.
Thus began the battle between the general and the king. To summarize,
It was no match at all.
