Chapter 35 - To the Dungeon with the Hero
“Huh? Huh? What do you mean?”
“Reina, what do you mean!? Are you two possibly…!?”
The panicked spectators, me holding my head in despair, and Reina’s ever-expressionless face.
Then, Reina continued to drop bombshells, completely unaware.
“I spent last night at his house, is that a problem?”
“Kyaaaa!”
The girls screamed in high-pitched voices.
“Gyaaaa!”
The boys let out wails of despair that echoed through the classroom.
“Mikenju! Aren’t we supposed to be comrades of the non-romantic? Are you betraying us!?”
That’s news to me. I don’t have comrades. If anything, you guys are just delusional. A group of inconspicuous bespectacled students grabbed my collar and shook me desperately, shedding tears of blood as they declared we were comrades.
“Mikenju! Mikenju! What’s going on? Tell us!”
The girls, excited by the scandal involving a celebrity, talked to me even though we’d never spoken before.
“I-It’s just that due to some circumstances, I’m letting her stay over!”
“Kenya is my master.”
“Kyaaaa!”
“Gyaaaa!”
“Stop saying things that sound strange!”
(She definitely isn’t emotionless! She’s totally putting on a character!)
Reina’s choice of words felt almost malicious, raising the classroom’s energy to its peak. Feeling the murderous intent from the boys, I dashed out of the classroom.
“Are you running home?”
Reina also grabbed her things and started running after me. Even with my stats, I couldn’t shake her off. As expected of a hero, and of someone I admired.
I rushed out of the school and caught my breath.
“Kenya, you’re fast. I thought I might lose you.”
Right behind me, without even breaking a sweat, was Reina.
(My stats should be pretty high, but Reina is still better?)
“Reina, please don’t publicly mention that we live together.”
“? Understood.”
Reina nodded, tilting her head.
(I hope she really understands…)
“I’m heading to the dungeon today. Are you going home? If so, I’ll give you the key.”
“The dungeon? I’ll come along.”
“Sure, but today I’ll just be farming on the 10th floor.”
“I don’t mind.”
“What do you seek in the dungeon, Reina?”
“……”
(She’s staying silent. Well, whatever.)
Reina, looking down without saying anything, decided to join me in the dungeon.
…
“Kenya, what happened?”
Ai asked, trembling as she looked at me and Reina. It wasn’t just Ai; many adventurers stared at us, and we’d been pointed at multiple times on the way here.
“I’m starting a guild, and Reina will be a member…”
“Really!? Nice to meet you. I’m Ai Nakano, Kenya’s navigator.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Reina Aoi. Please take care of me.”
Reina and Ai shook hands.
(Wait, Kenya! You didn’t tell me!)
“Wait, you’re starting a guild!? Really? This is all so surprising…”
“Sorry, I hadn’t mentioned it. Oh! Can you be the guild’s navigator too, Ai?”
Each explorer has their own navigator, but a guild usually has a dedicated guild navigator. Kenya hoped Ai could take on this role for the new guild.
“If I’m specifically requested, it should be okay… But are there only two members?”
“No, there’s one more, so we have three members for now.”
“A girl?”
“Yes, she’s a year younger.”
(I’ve ended up on the harem route!!)
Ai felt a pang of regret, realizing that girls had started gathering around the boy she had her eyes on.
“So, Ai, we’re going to farm the 10th floor today!”
“Okay, take care and be safe.”
Watching Kenya’s back, Ai thought to herself,
(If Reina ever becomes an enemy…)
“There’s no way I could win.”
With a deep sigh, Ai saw Kenya off.
…
In the second layer of the dungeon.
Goblins’ lair—a place I’m now used to, so I can navigate it without maps or signs. Today, we plan to defeat the Goblin General on the 9th floor ten times, making it a total of 100 runs.
“So, Reina, can I share our statuses?”
“Yes, that’s fine.”
“Status!”
Reina’s status and mine were displayed.
