Chapter 8 - Bullied at School. (One Day, I Will Definitely Punch Him)
Monday, the next day.
The most hated day of the week has started. I’m one of those who hate it. Right now, I’d rather be in a dungeon than at school, and I’m worried about Sato’s expression from yesterday.
Feeling a sense of foreboding, I head to school with heavy steps.
“Hey, Mikenju.”
Sato was waiting for me, leaning against the classroom door as if he had been expecting me.
“Yeah.”
I respond curtly and head to my seat. However, there were scribbles all over my desk. Seeing this, Sato laughed. His cronies also started giggling.
What a childish form of bullying. I immediately grab a rag to wipe it off. But as I see the words written there, I freeze. Unbelievable things were written there.
“Your sister is into compensated dating, right? Let me have a turn too.”
“Mikenju Nana loves old men’s XXX.”
“A slut who opens her legs to anyone for money.”
Where did this leak from? I don’t know, but it must be from some delinquent Nana contacted. Is that why Sato was watching my sister yesterday?
Nana is a first-year student at the same high school. She’s known as a beauty in her grade and is quite popular. So, Sato must have known about her and did some digging. This is the result…
I tremble with anger. I don’t care about myself, but I can’t forgive anything about my sister.
“Hey! Sato!!”
In a voice lower than I could believe, I call out to Sato. My clenched fist trembles, almost drawing blood from my own strength.
“Oh? What’s this? Are you angry? So it was true, huh? Hahaha!”
“It’s not true! Nana isn’t like that!”
“It’s fine, you don’t have to hide it. Your family’s poor, right? All you eat is bean sprouts, right? I’ll buy your sister for you! How about a thousand yen? Gyahaha!”
With a vulgar laugh, Sato mocks me. How can someone like him be a holy knight? His profession should be “Scum.”
I let my anger drive me and lunge at Sato. But he dodges easily and punches me back just as effortlessly.
“You useless wimp! Don’t you dare fight back!”
As expected, I fell to the ground. The power difference is too great; I can’t even clear my sister’s name.
“Hey, everyone! This is Mikenju Kenya’s sister, and she does sugar daddy stuff!”
“Really?”
“Isn’t she a pretty cute girl?”
Sato further provokes me, and his cronies laugh along.
“Bitch! Bitch! Bitch!”
The cronies chant, clapping in rhythm, loudly mocking me and my sister.
“Take it back!”
I keep getting up, demanding they take it back, but each time I’m punched back to the ground.
The pain and frustration bring tears to my eyes. My sister suffers unfairly because of my weakness.
“He’s crying! I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for him, look.”
Sato then throws some coins at me.
“Pick it up, you poor bastard. It’s charity.”
The thrown coins and my sobs and the clinking of metal are the only sounds in the classroom. My hand almost unconsciously reaches for the coins that would cover a day’s worth of food for my family. Feeling even more miserable for doing so, I slump further.
Rattle, rattle, rattle.
“Alright, sit down, everyone.”
The teacher arrives, and the commotion ends for now. When asked what happened, I could only say, “Nothing.”
If this were pursued further, the story might reach Nana. So, I silently wipe off the graffiti, spilling more water on my already wet desk. Seeing this, Sato and his cronies laugh heartily.
Feeling utterly miserable, I head home. Then I go straight to the dungeon, turning my frustration and misery into anger.
As a manga once said, “Get angry. Pure, righteous anger that says ‘I can’t forgive this’ will become the unwavering drive to move your limbs.”
Following that wise saying, I stored up my anger. The anger I couldn’t release at Sato earlier, I build up as I delve into the dungeon.
I’ve already told them I won’t be at school tomorrow, and I’ve told Ai that I’ll spend the whole day tomorrow as well. So today, I challenge the dungeon with all my might.
My goal is to complete the Knight Series. Then, I’ll evolve the Knight Series and go even further. And then…
“I’ll punch Sato in the face!!”
With that single-minded focus, I gather the Soldier Series armlets and repeat alchemy.
