Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 30: Boat Trip

Later that night, Haru pulled out his Flip phone, as he called Whitney as Whitney was going to sleep as she stopped and heard her phone, as she checked it.

Whitney looked at the number. "So what, is up beautiful, miss me already".

Haru chuckled on the other line. "Will what can I say, anyway I got my fourth badge"

Whitney smirked as she leaned back on her bed, holding the phone to her ear. "Oh, so you finally managed to get Jasmine's badge? Not bad, Haru. Guess you're not just all talk after all."

Haru laughed. "Hey, give me some credit. She even pulled out a Mega Evolution, and I still came out on top."

Whitney raised an eyebrow, even though Haru couldn't see it. "Mega Evolution? Jasmine? Seriously? That's not something she usually pulls out. You must've really pushed her to go all out."

"Yeah, she used a Mega Magnezone," Haru replied, leaning against the wall of his room. "It was tough, but my team pulled through. Marshtomp and Electivire did most of the heavy lifting."

Whitney smiled, her tone softening. "Sounds like you're getting stronger, Haru. I'm proud of you. But don't think for a second that you're going to pass me up. I'm still way ahead of you."

Haru chuckled. "You're not making it easy, are you? Anyway, how are things on your end? Still wrecking challengers with that Miltank of yours?"

Whitney grinned. "You know it. That Rollout combo still leaves them crying. But honestly, it's been pretty quiet around here. The usual mix of rookies and overconfident trainers."

"Well, maybe I should come back and give you a proper match sometime," Haru teased.

Whitney laughed. "Oh, please. You barely scraped by last time. But sure, bring it on. I'll crush you again."

Haru smiled, a hint of warmth in his voice. "I might just take you up on that. Anyway, I should let you get some sleep. Just wanted to let you know how I'm doing."

Whitney's voice softened. "Alright, Haru. Take care of yourself out there. And don't forget—you've got someone here cheering you on."

Haru paused for a moment, then replied, "Thanks, Whitney. I won't forget."

"Well, maybe I should come back and give you a rematch sometime," Haru teased.

Whitney laughed. "Oh, please. You barely scraped by last time. But sure, bring it on. I'll crush you again."

Haru paused for a moment, then replied, "Thanks, Whitney. I won't forget."

As the call ended, Haru stared at his phone for a moment, a small smile lingering on his face. With friends like Whitney supporting him, he felt more determined than ever to keep pushing forward on his journey.

The next day arrived, as the squad was in the beach.

Haru looked at them. "Alright with this HM of surf from Jasmine, we can make our way to the next Gym".

Jessie, James and Casey then looked at Marshtomp, who had a face that says, I didn't ask for this.

Haru looked at them. "Hey don't judge me, Boat are expensive".

James just looked at him. "Alright, we know you rich pull out your water".

Haru then screamed. "No"

They tackled, after that a dust cloud happened they managed to get Haru wallet.

As the dust cloud settled, Jessie, James, and Casey stood triumphantly with Haru's wallet in James' hand. Haru lay on the sand, looking disheveled but still clinging to his pride.

Jessie opened the wallet and her jaw dropped. "Haru, are you serious right now? You've got enough here to buy a yacht!"

James nodded, flipping through the bills. "And you're telling us boats are expensive? You're just being cheap!"

Casey crossed her arms and gave Haru a disappointed look. "You were really going to make poor Marshtomp carry all of us across the ocean, weren't you?"

Marshtomp sighed, clearly not amused but still loyal to its trainer.

Haru got up, brushing the sand off. "Hey, listen! Just because I can afford a boat doesn't mean I should. Do you have any idea how much maintenance those things cost? Plus, it's good training for Marshtomp!"

Jessie rolled her eyes. "Yeah, 'training.' More like an excuse to save your precious cash."

James grinned mischievously. "Well, since you've got all this money, I think it's only fair we celebrate a little before we leave. Maybe... a fancy dinner? My treat—using your wallet, of course."

Haru snatched his wallet back with a quick swipe. "Absolutely not! We're heading out now, and that's final."

Casey smirked. "Looks like someone's feeling guilty."

Marshtomp gave Haru a tired look, but eventually, it stepped forward, ready to do its part. Haru patted its head. "Thanks, buddy. I owe you one."

As the group prepared to set off on Marshtomp's back, Jessie muttered under her breath, "This better not turn into a disaster. I didn't sign up to get tossed into the ocean."

James grinned. "Oh, come on, where's your sense of adventure?"

Casey chuckled. "Knowing Haru, this is bound to turn into something ridiculous."

With that, the group climbed onto Marshtomp, ready to cross the waters to the next Gym, their bickering continuing all the way.

5 unnecessary trainee battle later, the group arrived back to land, and Haru bought a small boat for them to travel, will more like they got someone in the port to drive them, as they got and made there way to the city. As they stopped in the middle of the sea to relax, this was journey not a sprint as they decided to have a relaxing moment as they looked in the water, Haru summoned all his Pokémon, and so did Casey, James and Jessie.

James smiled. "Today seems like a good day for a swim"

James grinned as he began shedding his jacket, clearly ready to jump into the pristine blue waters. "You know, I haven't had a proper swim in ages. This is the perfect chance!"

Jessie raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "James, you do realize there could be Sharpedo down there, right? Or Tentacruel? Or worse, seaweed tangling in your hair?"

Casey smirked, tossing out her Pokéballs to let her Pokémon—Flaaffy, Fearow, and Nidorino—stretch their legs. "You sound like an old lady, Jessie. Live a little! Maybe I'll join James if he doesn't chicken out."

Meowth, lounging on a deck chair with sunglasses, waved a paw dismissively. "You all are nuts. I'll stay up here where it's safe. Besides, I don't need a bath."

Meanwhile, Haru sat by the edge of the boat, dangling his feet in the water as his Pokémon—Marshtomp, Scizor, Houndoom, Electivire, and Meowth—enjoyed their freedom. Marshtomp splashed playfully, clearly relieved to be off duty. Houndoom lay lazily in the shade, while Scizor kept a sharp eye on the horizon. Electivire, on the other hand, was showing off its strength by lifting one of the boat's spare anchors.

Haru glanced at James. "If you want to swim, go for it. Just don't blame me if a wild Gyarados decides to have you for lunch."

James shrugged. "I'm not scared of a little Gyarados. Besides, what are the chances—"

Before he could finish, a massive splash erupted nearby, drenching everyone on the boat. From the waves emerged the towering figure of a Gyarados, its intimidating roar echoing across the sea.

Jessie and Casey froze in place, while Meowth screamed, "What did I just say?!"

Haru sighed, standing up and pulling out a Pokéball. "You had to jinx it, didn't you, James?"

James, now soaked but undeterred, grinned sheepishly. "I guess we're battling instead of swimming, huh?"

The group quickly rallied their Pokémon as the wild Gyarados loomed closer, its piercing eyes locked onto the boat. Haru smirked, holding up a Pokéball. "Alright, let's show this Gyarados it messed with the wrong trainers!"

Haru then called out. "Marshtomp".

Marshtomp then jumprd out of the ball, as then Electivire and Houndoom were also ready to jump in

Haru looked at them. "No no no, Electivire stay in the boat, Houndoom you will not survive this".

Haru then quickly removed his cloth, almost like he was expecting this, as they just looked at him, Casey had a nosebleed and so they Jessie as Haru has a swimmers build.

Jessie looked at him. "I am jealous of Whitney now".

Casey cleared her mind as she sent out Meganium. "Alright Meganium let's do this".

Jessie then called for him Scyter and Victreebel, As then two more Gyarados came out as well.

Haru looked at Meowth. "Meowth".

Meowth just looked at him. "You have to be kidding me boss"

As he just jumped in, not liking this.

The wild Gyarados trio roared in unison, their intimidating presence turning the once peaceful sea into a battlefield. Haru, standing waist-deep in the water, looked utterly unfazed as Marshtomp swam up beside him, ready to fight.

Haru smirked. "Alright, Marshtomp, let's show them what we're made of! Start with Rock Slide on the lead Gyarados!"

Marshtomp slammed its fists into the water, causing large rocks to appear and hurtle toward the closest Gyarados. The rocks struck true, making the massive serpent flinch.

Casey called out to her Meganium. "Meganium, use Razor Leaf! Spread it out between the other two Gyarados!"

Meganium flicked its head, sending a flurry of razor-sharp leaves slicing through the air. The two Gyarados dodged some but still took hits, growling in irritation.

Jessie, standing on the deck with Scyther and Victreebel, smirked confidently. "Scyther, hit the second Gyarados with X-Scissor! Victreebel, support with Sleep Powder on the last one!"

Scyther zipped through the air, its blades glowing as it slashed at the second Gyarados, forcing it to retreat slightly. Victreebel unleashed a cloud of shimmering powder that drifted toward the third Gyarados, making it sluggish as it began to nod off.

Haru glanced at Meowth, who was paddling miserably in the water. "Meowth, use Fake Out to distract the first Gyarados!"

Meowth groaned but did as commanded, swimming up and clapping its paws together with surprising force. The sound startled the lead Gyarados, leaving it temporarily flinching.

The first Gyarados retaliated, firing a Hydro Pump directly at Haru and Marshtomp. Haru ducked under the water as Marshtomp countered with Earthquake, sending shockwaves that disrupted the Gyarados' aim and made the water ripple violently.

The second Gyarados lunged at Scyther with Bite, but Jessie shouted, "Dodge and counter with Slash! Show it who's boss!"

Scyther deftly avoided the attack, delivering a sharp slash to Gyarados' side.

Meanwhile, the third Gyarados, still drowsy from Victreebel's Sleep Powder, attempted a sluggish Dragon Tail at Meganium, but Casey's Pokémon easily dodged.

Haru emerged from the water, his hair slicked back as he gave the next command. "Marshtomp, finish the lead Gyarados with Earthquake! Full power!"

Marshtomp roared as it unleashed another powerful Earthquake, the shockwaves traveling through the water and slamming into the lead Gyarados, causing it to collapse into the sea with a defeated groan.

Casey pumped her fist. "One down, two to go!"

The battle raged on as the group coordinated their efforts, their teamwork shining brightly against the relentless onslaught of the wild Gyarados trio. Haru and his friends were proving that no challenge—whether in the gym or out at sea—could stop them when they worked together.

The second Gyarados then used Surf, as everyone went Oh no, as then then Haru told Marshtomp to use it's own Surf, as Marshtomp did that the two water attacked hit eachother sending both them back, then Meganium used a powerful solar beem, as it sent the 3rd one back, as then Jessie throws a Pokémon Ball to that Gyarados as she was ready to capture it, James already has 3 Pokémon and she only has 2 time to make it even, as the Pokeball shakes as she cought it, the third Gyarados flyer in the air as made a bigger surf, Marshtomp tryed again but this time he wasn't strong enough but he still tryed and he needs to get stronger and so it happens Marshtomp body glows as everyone eyes opened

James then spoke. "Will this is a suprise but a good one"

As Marshtomp's body glowed brilliantly, the light expanded, enveloping the entire battlefield. The team watched in awe as Marshtomp's form began to shift and grow. Haru grinned, realizing what was happening.

"Looks like Marshtomp's hard work is finally paying off," Haru said with pride in his voice.

The light faded, revealing a powerful Swampert, its muscular body radiating newfound strength. Swampert let out a triumphant roar, flexing its arms as it stood tall in the water, ready to face the final Gyarados.

Casey was the first to react. "Swampert looks incredible! Talk about leveling up!"

Jessie held the newly caught Pokéball in her hand and smirked. "Great timing, Haru. Now finish this so we can celebrate my new Gyarados!"

Haru nodded. "Alright, Swampert, let's end this with Ice Punch! Give it everything you've got!"

Swampert's fist glowed with icy energy as it swam rapidly toward the third Gyarados, leaping into the air and delivering a powerful blow. The ice spread across Gyarados' body, freezing it in place.

James clapped his hands together. "Brilliant move! That'll cool it off for sure."

The Gyarados roared in defiance, but its movements were sluggish due to the freezing effect. Casey seized the opportunity. "Meganium, one more Solar Beam! Let's finish this!"

Meganium charged up another powerful Solar Beam, its petals glowing intensely before releasing a blinding beam of energy. The attack hit Gyarados squarely, knocking it out. The massive serpent fell back into the sea with a tremendous splash.

Jessie grinned. "Looks like we handled that perfectly. And now, thanks to me, we have an extra powerhouse for the team!"

Haru patted Swampert on the back. "You did amazing. Looks like evolving gave you the strength you needed."

Swampert nodded with a determined look, clearly proud of its new form and abilities.

James leaned back on the boat, looking at Haru. "So, Captain Haru, what's the next plan? Are we back on track for the gym, or are we taking a victory lap?"

Haru smirked. "The next gym, obviously. But first, let's enjoy the rest of this break. Swampert deserves some time to show off."

Everyone cheered, and with spirits high, the group prepared to continue their journey. Their bond had grown even stronger, and with Swampert's evolution, Haru's team was shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with.
