Chapter 53: Pokemon: I Transmigrated Twice [53]
"Then I'll go first!"
Will spoke enthusiastically:
"My name is Will. I like Psychic-type Pokémon and dislike routine and predictability. I think the unknown is the most interesting thing. If we already knew everything that was going to happen, life would be way too boring."
"As for hobbies, I enjoy finding ways to have fun. So, after figuring out Stephen's identity, I decided to team up with him. As for future dreams..."
"Hmm, I haven't thought about it yet. For now, living like this is pretty nice."
After hearing Will's introduction, Rihua glanced at him silently and thought to herself:
"As expected, he's completely unreliable."
At that moment, Rihua noticed that Stephen was looking at her.
When their eyes met, Stephen slightly raised his head, indicating it was her turn.
After a brief moment of thought, Rihua calmly spoke:
"My name is Rihua. You already know my background. Things I dislike... I despise anything fake, as well as self-righteous people. There's nothing I particularly like. If I had to say something, it'd be my Pokémon."
As she said this, Rihua gently stroked her Houndour, who was happily feasting on Pokémon nutritional food by her feet.
"As for dreams, they're nothing but slogans. I've never bothered with them. However, I do have a short-term goal right now—"
"And that is... to kill a man." (PS: Are you Sasuke?)
As she got to this part, Rihua's voice unintentionally grew heavier.
Feeling the intense, unapproachable aura emanating from Rihua, Will nervously swallowed, silently wondering:
"Whoa... the person she's talking about isn't me, right?"
"Woof~"
Rihua's Houndour, upon hearing her words, also stopped eating temporarily and emitted a faint killing intent that matched Rihua's.
"Ahem! Alright, Stephen, your turn now."
Will clapped his hands to lighten the mood.
"…My name is Stephen. The things I like are somewhat similar to Will—unknown things, or rather, the act of exploring the unknown. Things I dislike? There are too many to list all at once."
"I have many hobbies. Currently, my main focus is on researching Pokémon. Dreams are too far off, but my short-term goal is to help my Pokémon unlock their potential."
After hearing the three introductions, Will's Natu chirped loudly:
"Natu: Cheep cheep (Let's introduce ourselves too! I'm Natu, and what I like is...)"
Following Natu's lead, Will's Jynx, Slowpoke, and Exeggutor all chimed in one after another. Then, they eagerly turned to look at Rihua's Houndour, who seemed a bit out of place.
Feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of Will's Pokémon, Houndour impatiently replied:
"Woof! (I'm Houndour. I like meat and dislike humans. I'm currently following this human girl because we share the same goal. Once that goal is achieved, I'll leave. My dream is to restore my race to glory and... to kill a certain man!)"
"Howl~"
As soon as Rihua's Houndour finished speaking, one of Stephen's Houndours howled in response.
It's meaning? "If you're leaving, we won't stop you. But we're staying right here~"
The thought of their last days in the wild—enduring hunger and sleeping in the open—made Stephen's three Houndours cherish their current lives even more.
Sure, training was tough, but it was still far better than wandering in the wild.
Stephen's care for them could only be described as meticulous.
The first time they underwent special training, the three Houndours were stunned.
They never thought it was possible to grow stronger this way.
Though they hadn't been part of human society for long, they could tell that this kind of training equipment and methods were exclusive luxuries unavailable in the wild.
During training, even their heart rates were monitored with electrocardiographs to ensure they pushed their limits without risking injury.
Outside of training, their trainer used some mysterious mind-linking ability to chat with them weekly.
Then, based on their changing tastes, Stephen adjusted their diets accordingly.
"Why would I go back to the wild? I'd have to be crazy!"
Rihua's Houndour turned its head away, seemingly wanting to avoid further involvement in the conversation.
Will's Pokémon exchanged glances and silently wondered if this Houndour would be difficult to get along with in the future.
They then turned to Stephen's Umbreon and the three Houndours.
As the leader of the group, Umbreon felt it was her duty to speak first.
"Umbreon: Umbre! (I am Umbreon. I don't have particular likes. I fight for one reason only—to help him achieve his dream. That is... my dream.)"
As she spoke, Umbreon raised her gaze to look at Stephen.
Clap clap clap~
Moved by the atmosphere, Will's Natu, Slowpoke, and Jynx all began clapping simultaneously.
Exeggutor, who had no hands, nodded in agreement.
They didn't fully understand what she meant, but they could tell it was impressive!
However, someone was bound to ruin the moment.
One of Stephen's Houndours, while licking its paw, teased:
"Woof woof (Wow, as expected of Sister Umbreon! Such high ideals.)"
Another chimed in: "Woof~ (But isn't Sister Umbreon already eight years old? I heard you were only adopted by the trainer a few months ago. Isn't your room for growth... limited?)"
The last one smiled slyly: "Woof woof! (Don't worry, Sister Umbreon. If we encounter stronger opponents in the future, we'll handle them. You, as an elder, can just sit back and relax with some Pokéblocks.)"
Compared to domesticated Pokémon, wild Pokémon understood just how much age affected strength.
In the wild, many Pokémon faced threats from predators the moment they were born, forcing them to maximize their growth during their prime years.
Older, weaker members of a group often ended up doing the hardest, dirtiest work—or, in extreme cases, being abandoned altogether.
The Houndours could tell that Umbreon, given her age, had already missed her peak growth years.
As Giovanni once put it, Umbreon's ceiling was capped at the Elite Four level. Breaking through that limit was nearly impossible.
"Umbre! (You're asking for it!)"
Enraged, Umbreon lunged at the three Houndours with her claws extended.
In an instant, the entire table was overturned.
Stephen, Will, and Rihua all looked down to see what was happening.
Underneath the table, a fierce brawl had broken out.
Umbreon had one paw pressing down on a Houndour's back while biting the throat of another.
If not for Jynx holding her down with both hands, Umbreon might have ripped a piece of the ceiling off.
Meanwhile, Natu and Slowpoke stood on either side of the last Houndour, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Rihua's Houndour, on the other hand, quietly retreated into a corner, trying to minimize its presence.
Will was completely dumbfounded.
"What the heck?! Are they fighting amongst themselves?!"
"What do you think you're all doing?!"
Stephen's stern voice cut through the chaos, finally forcing Umbreon and the Houndours to settle down.
PS: Don't mention a woman's age.
