"Damn it!" The handsome man slammed his hand against the corridor railing. "I still let him get away!"
Before Kai could respond, the man explained, "That was Lambda, a senior Team Rocket operative I've been tracking. I almost had him, but in the end, it slipped through my fingers!"
"You've already done well to stop this robbery," Kai reassured him. Then, with a sudden shift in tone, he added, "But now's not the time for self-reproach. The priority is dealing with the remaining Team Rocket grunts below!"
"You're right," the man nodded firmly. "Let's move quickly!"
A gust of wind swept through, and the previously calm sea began to churn.
In the distance, the sky darkened, and a massive, ominous storm cloud steadily approached the S.S. Anne.
On the first floor of the ship, the combined efforts of passengers and Pokémon quickly drove off the Team Rocket grunts.
Scattered, they fled in all directions, disappearing in the chaos.
Even the skilled Interpol agent had reached his limit. He could only watch helplessly as the remaining Rocket members escaped.
With no way to bring all of them to justice on his own, he gave Kai his phone number, exchanged a brief farewell, and quietly departed.
Suddenly, a massive wave struck the ship, causing it to lurch violently.
Passengers were caught off guard, losing their balance and stumbling to the floor.
Reacting quickly, Kai grabbed a nearby table to steady himself. Before he could fully recover, a small figure collided with him.
It was Misty!
Kai instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her from falling. "Are you okay?" he asked with concern.
Misty blushed slightly, looked up at Kai, and gave a small nod.
The S.S. Anne rocked perilously as wave after wave-battered it. Its stabilizers struggled against the storm's intensity.
Passengers crowded around the windows, peering out at the darkened sky illuminated by streaks of lightning.
"It's a storm!" someone shouted, sparking immediate panic.
Brock helped Misty to her feet and sighed. "In weather like this, there's no way this ship can make it back."
Elsewhere, the ship's captain, who had been conspicuously absent, finally appeared.
Though flustered, he tried to put on a calm façade. "The storm caught us off guard," he admitted. "But rest assured, the S.S. Anne is a massive vessel, tested against harsh conditions. I guarantee it won't sink!"
No sooner had he said this than another wave slammed into the ship, sending everyone sprawling again.
When they scrambled to their feet, they spotted the captain making a beeline for the emergency exit, where he boarded a lifeboat.
"Everyone!" the captain called out, already seated in the lifeboat. "I guarantee this ship will not sink! Please remain calm!"
But seeing the captain fleeing, no one believed his words. The crowd surged toward the lifeboats in a chaotic frenzy of screams, shouts, and cries.
"Let's go too," Kai urged Misty and Brock. As they turned to leave, they noticed Ash was missing.
"Huh? Where's Ash?" Kai asked, scanning the crowd.
After a frantic search, they found Ash by a trading machine in the corner, exchanging Pokémon with a man in a suit.
"There he is!"
Rushing over, they saw the suited man notice Kai. "It's you!" the man exclaimed in surprise. "In such a short time, your Ralts have already evolved into Kirlia. It must be much stronger now!"
Kai responded with a polite nod but didn't elaborate.
Ash had just taken his Butterfree's Poké Ball from the machine when another violent wave shook the ship.
The ball slipped from his hands, rolling into a nearby corridor.
"But...Butterfree!" Ash cried, dashing after it. Misty and Brock, worried, followed close behind.
Kai hesitated, glancing back at the lifeboats. Now was the safest time to escape.
But logic told him that even in a lifeboat, the storm's waves would be perilous.
Shaking his head, he decided not to leave them behind and chased after Ash and the others into the corridor.
After sprinting down the hallway, they finally caught up to Ash. Just as he picked up the Poké Ball, the ship lurched with unprecedented force.
Kai felt his world flip upside down as his body was flung into the air, slamming hard against the wall.
The impact was brutal. When Kai finally got to his feet with the help of his Kirlia, he realized the S.S. Anne had capsized.
He could feel the ship sinking and heard the ominous sounds of water rushing in.
"It's sinking…" he muttered grimly.
Around him, Ash, Misty, and Brock were sprawled on the floor. Kai quickly roused them, and as they grasped the situation, their faces turned pale.
Another tremor shook the ship. It seemed to have settled on the ocean floor, leaving the corridors eerily still.
Miraculously, the lights remained on, indicating the power system was still functional for now.
"What do we do now?" Ash asked in a panic, staring out the window at the watery abyss. "The ship's completely sunk!"
"Calm down," Kai instructed firmly. "We need to find a way out before the water fills the ship completely!"
'Looks like we are getting the Titanic ending, but it's good that I don't have a female near me... hmm...wait...' Kai started to sweat Just imagining the situation.
Fortunately, the trapped air and the ship's construction gave them some time before the seawater fully flooded the interior.
The group moved cautiously through the overturned corridors. With the ship's layout reversed, "up" was now "down," and some areas were blocked off entirely. Pools of water made progress slow and treacherous.
Reaching a staircase, they found it completely submerged. Standing before the waterlogged steps, their path forward seemed uncertain.
