Chapter 9: "Evil" Spirit
Taga and Keomi wandered about the depths of the school's basement. Keomi looked around at all the shelves and drawers while Taga stared at some of the other boxes laying around. Keomi grabbed a strange food can. She looked at the picture on the front. It was dusty, but when she wiped it off it kind of looked a little like Taga.
Keomi giggled as she put the can up. "Huh." Keomi said, "What?" Taga asked.
"She kinda looks like you." Keomi said as she showed Taga the girl on the can. Taga almost looked happy for the comparison until she saw how ugly and cartoony the girl looked. Her face dropped to disappointment and annoyance. Keomi just chuckled as Taga began to point out ever detail about why the cartoon can girl was much uglier than her. As she did that the sound of something heavy falling would ring out across the basement. The two looked over as the sound rang out, both nervous and scared. They got up and went to inspect the noise from the far side of the basement. As they rounded the corner of one, of an aisle to see one of the boxes of papers had fallen over. Keomi stared at it, and as she shined her light on it and then see the same glowing substance from before.
"Woah." Taga said as she took a closer look. "Just like the weird goop from upstairs. We're getting close I can feel it!" Taga said. Thats when a light in the distance ahead of them would begin to flicker.
Taga and Keomi both looked up as their faces fell with fear and dread. That's when a strange purple-glowing mist began to emerge around the place. The two's faces grew more and more petrified with fear, as the mist began to merge and twist into the silhouette of a woman. That was when finally the full visage of the ghostly figure was revealed. The two of them stood there in fear and shock.
"...Liars must be punished...deception must be paid for,....and cruelty must be met-" thats when the ghostly woman's hair shot up revealing her ghastly face of petrified rage and anguish.
"WITH CRUELTY!" screamed the ghost woman, Taga and Keomi both screamed loudly as they ran into one another before backing up and then running in the opposite direction of the other. The ghost woman disappeared into the floor. Taga ran through the aisles of shelves filled with papers and boxes. She ran at her best speed until suddenly the ghost woman shot up from the ground causing Taga to fall back.
"OH MY GOD! OOOOOH MY GOD!" Taga shouted in fear, "Your deception....must be punished!" the ghost woman said with a ghost-like tone. Taga began to look around as she attempted to throw paper, pens, and whatever else she could get her hands on. Yet the ghost woman was not fazed by any of it, it simply just went flying through her. Taga then screamed as she got up and ran away "I'M REALLY CONFLICTED RIGHT NOW! BECAUSE YOUR VERY TERRIFYING, BUT I ALSO WANT AN AUTOGRAPH!" Taga screamed as she ran away while her eyes jetted around looking for Keomi. Keomi ran towards where she heard Taga, but with the lights now flickering due to spiritual interference, she couldn't find her. Keomi ran about the basement with her flashlight in hand. Keomi then saw as the Ghost woman flew about the room looking for her.
"Do you believe that you can be redeemed for your secrecy? That you can be a human being when you yourself cannot trust another!?" shouted the Ghost woman as she went spiraling through the many shelves, knocking them over and throwing papers and boxes all over the place. Keomi as she hid paid attention to the Ghost woman's words, she could hear pain and suffering in her voice. Taga however was running around, using her phone to try and document this moment.
She was vaulting over objects, ducking under knocked-over shelves and even rolling across the floor.
"TAGA! TAGA COME TO MY VOICE!" Keomi shouted only to then suddenly see some of the things on the shelf beginning to move and shake violently until some of them would go flying at Keomi. One of the boxes full of paper flew at her and knocked the wind out of her, as it slammed against her chest and sent her skidding backward and falling against the stairs. Keomi struggled to get up as more boxes of files and other tools. Keomi covers her head as the ghost woman emerges from the ground. "Your deception...will be your demise." said the ghost woman as she raised her hand, opened a box full of scissors, and aimed them at Keomi.
"Time to die." said the Ghost woman as she then flung a barrage of scissors at Keomi, however suddenly Taga tackled into Keomi from the side, saving her from getting skewered. The two fell to the side as the large swarm as scissors stabbed into the walls and stairs.
"OOF! Oh Keomi are you alright?" Taga asked
"Yea, yea I'm fine. Thanks Taga." Keomi said as the two then began to see the Ghost Woman begin to float higher off the ground. "You dare save someone who would be dishonest with you?! You dare protect those who would only hide the truth from you?! YOU SHALL SHARE THEIR FATE!" shouted the Ghost Woman.
"We need to get the hell out of here Keomi!" Taga shouted, "...No, I think know who this is." Keomi said as Taga looked to her and then the spirit.
"What? I-I don't understand." She asked.
"This is her, the woman who had her heart broken. Her trust broken...the woman you told me about. It's her." Keomi said. Keomi then stood up as the intense winds coming from the Ghost continued to get more and more violent. Taga grabbed Keomi's hand.
"Hold on just a second, you aren't thinking of talking to her are you?!" Taga asked with shock and fear in her voice. "I am. Because sometimes Taga...thats just what you need." Keomi said as she walked ahead, Taga let go of Keomi's hand as she watched her stand in front of the Ghost woman who was now howling and in the air.
"I know who you are!" shouted Keomi as she covered her eyes and face from the many papers and objects flying against her.
"Know me? You know nothing girl!" shouted the Ghost woman, Keomi shook her head.
"Thats not true! I know of your past, I know what your husband did." Keomi said, the Ghost woman's face dropped as she looked at her. "..."
"You want others to suffer because of what happened to you, I understand. The world can be hard on us and even harder to trust with our feelings. You put trust in your husband and he didn't cherish that.
But you also must see that doing this, acting this way and trying to hurt others cause you were hurt isn't the way to go. I think what you need is to rest, stop this wanting to hurt people and take care of yourself. Just rest for now...please?" Keomi asked. The Ghost woman's eyes stared at Keomi, unsure how to answer. She floated down, her hair falling against her face as she landed on her knees. The ghost woman held herself as she looked at the ground, Taga just watched with shock in her eyes.
"I just...I just want to be...I just want to be okay again, that's all I want. That's....all I want." the Ghost woman said as she looked up to Keomi, her eyes filled with tears, as they dropped to the ground yet went straight through it. Keomi went to her and got on her knees too. The Ghost and Keomi looked at one another.
"It's ok, it's ok now. No one here wants to hurt you, no one is going to hurt you. You're going to be ok." Keomi said as she hesitantly reached her hands out towards the Ghost woman, before laying them on her shoulders. Her purple hue then changed slowly to a shining gold one, before the ghost then faded away.
"I'm...ok." said the Female spirit one last time, before she completely faded away. Taga was sitting behind her friend dumbfounded.
Taga stood up and she stared at Keomi's back. Keomi slightly slumped forward. "...What...just happened?" Taga thought.
Keomi gently raised her hand to her face and as she did, a slight drop of a purple liquid would fall on her hand...before then turning gold and diminishing.
