Chapter 6: Checking out the sun Stone
Nika stood alone in a wide, open field, the wind gently tugging at her jacket as she held the Sun Stone in her palm. The small, glowing gem pulsed faintly, reflecting the golden light of the setting sun.
So… it was this close the whole time.
Her fingers tightened around the stone as she stared at it, brows furrowed in thought.
Nika knew exactly what kind of power the Sun Stone could give her. To wield it meant becoming Rogue Sun—a living force of fire and strength.
But she also knew the catch.
When you die… a piece of you gets trapped inside the stone.
It wasn't just a copy or a ghost. It was you.
Stuck in that space, unable to move on, until the next wielder either destroyed the stone or died inside of it again.
So no, she thought. I never planned to find it.
She could've gone her entire life ignoring the Sun Stone's existence, and she wouldn't have cared.
But now…
Now that she held it, Nika couldn't shake the feeling gnawing at the back of her mind—the second hunch she'd felt ever since she woke up in this world.
This wasn't just any Sun Stone.
That feature doesn't exist in this one.
Nika stared down at it, her thumb brushing over the surface as flames quietly flickered across its surface.
I guess there's no reason not to use it, then.
Taking a breath, she squeezed the stone in her palm.
It burst into flames, the fire dancing up her arm before sinking into her skin like molten gold.
Her body tensed as a surge of heat rushed through her veins, crackling beneath her skin like lightning.
"Well… this is new."
The fire coiled around her form, wrapping her in flickers of red and orange until it finally dispersed—leaving her standing in full armor.
Nika exhaled, feeling the weight of the transformation settle over her.
Her arms flexed slightly, and she could feel the raw strength flowing through her muscles.
Yeah. I can get used to this.
But there was something else.
Her senses felt… expanded.
Like invisible threads stretched out from her body, connecting to the world around her.
Curious, Nika reached out mentally and tugged at one of them.
Her phone materialized instantly in her hand.
"So I don't have to remove the armor to use the stuff in my pockets. Good to know."
She turned the phone over, the armor responding to her thoughts with ease.
Convenient.
Glancing at the reflection in the phone's screen, Nika tilted her head.
Might as well see what design I ended up with.
Switching to the camera, she took a good look at herself for the first time since transforming.
The armor was familiar—a mix of old and new.
The body of the suit belonged to Daniel, the original protagonist of the Rogue Sun comics. It wasn't his first armor—the big, bold-lined design he started with.
It was the second one.
Thinner lines, sleeker edges.
(Image of the armor appears here.)
Her helmet, however, was different.
It wasn't Daniel's.
It belonged to one of the Rogue Suns he fought the one who relied solely on his fists, brute-forcing his way through every opponent.
(Image of the helmet appears here.)
Nika smirked under the mask.
Guess I got a little bit of everything.
Nika lowered her phone, watching as it dissolved into flickering embers, vanishing back into the invisible threads she felt earlier.
But something caught her attention.
There were five strings.
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
If the threads represent what I had on me… then that should account for my phone, the back of spare clothes, and supplies Grandma gave me.
She tugged mentally at the strings, letting her focus linger on the remaining three.
The answer clicked almost immediately.
Weapons.
Her pulse quickened.
Somehow, there were weapons stored within the Sun Stone.
A spear, a sword, and… a backup sword?
Nika crossed her arms, smirking beneath the helmet.
Guess I'm not limited to just hand-to-hand combat.
That suited her just fine.
Most Rogue Suns fought with their fists or manipulated their flames, but a few had wielded weapons in battle. I can do both.
She reached out mentally, pulling at the first thread.
A spear materialized in her hand, its weight light but sturdy against her palm.
Nika held it up, turning it slowly to examine the design.
The spear's sleek, slender frame was crafted with precision. The blade shimmered, its color shifting from deep red at the base to bright orange at the tip—like molten metal cooling at the edges.
Golden patterns wrapped around the shaft, twisting in elegant, flowing lines. The entire weapon seemed alive, like fire coursed through it.

"Alright… I'll admit, that looks pretty nice."
With a flick of her wrist, the spear dissolved into embers, returning to the Sun Stone.
Her attention shifted to the swords.
I'm not really interested in using two swords… and they aren't meant for that purpose anyway.
Nika tugged at the thread again, pulling the main sword free.
The blade gleamed faintly in the fading light—it was the same sword Daniel wielded in the comics.

She let out a small breath, running her thumb along the flat of the blade before sending it back to the Sun Stone.
I'll figure out which weapon suits me later.
(A/N – There's going to be a poll for which weapon she'll use. But if it isn't obvious, you probably know which one I prefer.)
Nika crossed her arms, letting the strings fade from her mind as she stood quietly in the field.
Now that I've checked out the Sun Stone…
Her gaze shifted to the distant horizon.
Time to move forward with the plan.
Nika's goal was clear—she needed to grow stronger.
And the fastest way to sharpen her skills… was to surround herself with death.
The original Flatline followed a similar path, aligning with criminal organizations to toughen herself up.
But unlike her… I want to be a hero.
That meant doing things a little differently.
Nika's lips twitched into a faint smile beneath the mask.
I'll infiltrate under disguise.
(you guys can send me images of disguises and I will choose one. And recommend any name Also she will disguise herself as a guy. also sidenote the losing weapon will be given to her disguise)
Her mind immediately wandered to Lord Death Man.
Flatline had sought him out in the comics—and while Nika's reasons differed, it wasn't a bad idea.
Even if she was aiming to become stronger through the same methods, she knew one thing:
The Sun Stone posed a unique problem.
Killing criminals or enemies might improve her control over the flames, but…
It wouldn't make her faster. Or stronger. Or tougher.
The Sun Stone's power her SunPower, as she decided to call it would only grow in strength through training her Powers.
Her physical attributes also wouldn't increase naturally without it.
I'll deal with that later.
For now, she turned her attention inward, reaching for the fire that swirled within her chest.
The armor flickered away, leaving only her regular clothes behind as the flames retreated into the stone embedded in her palm.
Nika exhaled, tucking her hands into her pockets.
First things first—
I need to get out of Russia and head to Japan.
