Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy!

Chapter 20: Your Birthday Gift!

"You have lost, Sire!"

Damon stepped back, his expression unreadable, before breaking into a quiet chuckle.

"Well played, Chester," Damon held the blade with his bare hand. But his face did not have any reaction, as if he could not feel his own injury. "But don't expect distractions to save you next time."

Chester grinned, still panting from the effort. "I'll take my victories however I can, Sire."

"But what made you distracted?" he asked looking back into the direction. He saw it before too but he found nothing.

"Just a running rabbit. Forget about it?" Rabbit here? They all looked in that direction. The duke's estate is near the sea. They could see a crab using its pincers easily but a rabbit?

"Alright, there will be a break for half an hour." They cheered. They did not care if there was a rabbit or a prince as long as they were given a chance to take breath.

Damon walked away. Chester followed him with his gaze, a slight frown on his face.

Damon walked toward the rear bushes and held an arm.

"Why are you hiding here?" his eyes were so cold that Olivia blinked. She cleared her throat and took out a wrapped painting.

"I did not want to disturbed you. Did you lose because of me?" but she was so silent. She had made sure that she did not have her presence known.

Damon ignored her. He looked at the painting with a deep frown. His eyes are growing darker. It was his painting. He knew those clothes and the look on his face.

"You drew this. Why?" Why indeed?

"I.. I saw you look disappointed that your childhood painting was destroyed. I wanted to make a new one for you. But.. we do not meet often. I tried hard to remember, but I could only remember this." she felt guilty and for some reason like a pervert when his eyes flickered looking at the painting.

"You painted this because you felt I was disappointed?" he snickered. "Well, you felt wrong. And even if I am disappointed. It had nothing to do with you. I have already cleared this point." he threw the painting on the ground. "Do not meddle in my affairs, lady. Or you would regret it." he warned her in a voice cold enough to scare the knights.

Olivia stared at his legs. He was not limping anymore. But there was no way a wound that deep could be healed this easily. And now there were new wounds and scratches on his body.

"You should apply more ointment. Aah!" Olivia was stunned when a dagger came flying toward her. It flew past her and hit the tree she was hiding behind. It was so close that her breath hitched and a scream escaped her lips.

"That.. i.." he did not even turn when he threw the dagger toward her. Her eyes were horrified.

"Shut up and leave." if only she could! She gritted her teeth hard. If she had to die, what difference would it make if she will die today or die after a few months. At least, she would not have any regrets if she tried.

Damon frowned when he heard her steps. She should be running away but in a different direction. His frown grew deeper when she was closer. With an intention to scare her, he turned to look back at her. But he had highly underestimated her.

Before he could glare at her, she bumped into him with full force. And despite his strong reflex, she knocked him on the ground.

"..." he looked stunned because she looked horrified by her own actions. Was this girl for real?

"I.. this.. I didn't mean to do it!" she spoke hurriedly yet she did not stand up. She kept laying on him as if he was her fucking mattress. His anger boiled.

"You ran with that speed toward me and you are telling me you did not plan to bump into me! Stand up for Christ's sake." he shouted in a low voice. The knights might return any moment. There could be other staff.

He did not want to be seen with this girl. Anyone but her!

"Just take the picture with you please." instead of standing up and letting him stand, she leaned closer and blinked her eyes.

The look must be an act. There was no way a girl could look this innocent when she was sitting on a man and leaning on him. She was better than her sister when it came to acting.

"Stand up or.." his eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Or..?" She challenged me. She seems to enjoy challenging him? Had he been too lenient to her or she was unaware of his image as a demon!?

He flipped her on the ground and stood up. She groaned when her back hit the hard stones.

"Or i will throw you." he said with a smirk as he looked at her wincing.

"If you leave the portrait here, my sister will eventually find it. You would be more in trouble than me because she knew I had recently gone to the market. Aah, but if you take it to your room, she could never link it to me. Please, for our safety." this girl! He had never felt the desire to punch a woman this much.

"Why did you make it in the first place then?" Would anyone know if he strangled her here and buried her? No, the knights would return before that. And that evil witch would shed fake tears on the death of her kin and announce the death sentence to him.

She is not worth it. He controlled his rage and decided to burn the painting instead. Olivia finally sat on the ground and rubbed her nape. It feels like it was broken with the impact. Ignoring her pain, she stared at his furious face and sighed,

"Because.. No one planned to celebrate it. But it is your birthday in two days, Damon. I want to give you a birthday gift."
