Redemption Of The Yandere Villain

Chapter 9: Unpleasantness

"Young master, you can't"

"Raphael, please? Just this once, please keep it a secret from mother. I really want to meet Eugene and see if he's okay. I don't want him to get mad at me."

Raphael lowered his gaze, "No."

A firm and cold reply...Eullian frown.

"I'm just making one request this time, can you really do it?"

"I can't."

Raphael kept his stern attitude, as a pair of clear emerald eyes stared at his young master without wavering: "Academy will start soon, I'm sure you'll be able to meet him. If you insist on meeting your brother and the marquess finds out, only young master Eugene would suffer. So please keep your selfish wish a second thought."

Eullian's jaw dropped.

"You're saying I'm selfish?!"

"Yes."

"My little brother locks me up in a room..in an attic, pranks me, and always hurts me, and you will say that I'm the selfish one?" Eullian looks at Raphael with red eyes, "I'm not selfish and my mother won't do something like making my little brother suffer!"

Gasping for breath upon raising his voice, Eullian angrily shouted, "I really hate you!" and ran towards Leirose Garden, which caught Raphael off guard.

"You can't young master!"

Following Eullian, Raphael gritted his teeth.

——Eugene is studying in his room.

He is still bothered by what happened when he failed teleportation and can't get out of the face of Kaizer and his childhood friend in his head.

Both images are merging making it look like both people is the same.

It made him remember the past and suffered from nightmares.

If only there would be a time when he could sleep peacefully then he'll treasure that moment and keep his eyes closed and his consciousness away as much as he can to relieve his tiredness that couldn't be washed away.

"So boring."

Leaning on the chair, Eugene turn his head to look outside from the huge window.

Lierose garden is well maintained, the trees, plants, and flowers are beautiful and the way they swayed upon being touched by the air looks so refreshing.

"A nice weather to take a walk."

Should he?

Sighing, he stood up and walk away, "Whatever, as long as I don't feel so suffocated."

Opening the door of his room he glance to the side and saw Vincent standing like a statue and only moved when he saw him coming out.

"Young master, are you going out for a walk?"

Staring at Vincent, he let out a hump and turn his back...walking away.

There's no need to be a good person in this life knowing that if he died again, he would just travel to another world or come back here to experience another life. Now, he really doesn't understand why some longed for longevity when it's the most agonizing scenario to go through.

Immortality.

Most magicians spend their lives researching how they could live without dying to the point they would go against heaven's will making the church hate magicians for refusing their fate and counterbalancing their supposed destiny.

Magic.

Religion.

What's the difference? One is greedy for their own greatness and the other is a hypocrite for they believe that there is more above existence. Magic makes magicians think highly of themselves thinking that they could go beyond the mystery of the world while Religion makes religious people blinded and go around judging who is bad and good people.

He doesn't believe in both.

And even after witnessing it in his own eyes, he refuses to believe in gods.

Halting, Eugene looks up above at the skies and a mix of hatred and madness is visible to those pair of moonstone gray eyes making Vincent who witnessed his expression shudder.

That look...That kind of look is just...

Vincent's expression darken and he gritted his teeth.

Why did he suddenly feel so much hatred?

It was as if someone touches his heart and pull a string of emotions making such an unpleasant feeling burst out that made no sense. How could he suddenly feel hatred towards his young master who didn't even do anything? It was as if Eugene destroyed his life.

"Huh? Vincent?"

Suddenly feeling a familiar aura, Eugene came back to his senses and look at his butler.

"W-Why are you...making such a face?"

Staring at each other, Eugene trembled.

——"Ah?!"

"Eugene!"

It was a moment of fear and Eugene's nervousness doubled when he heard the familiar voice of his second brother causing his expression to freeze.

"Wha--" before he could turn around, Eullian threw himself to him.

Vincent was taken aback in surprise: "Young master!"

Having to support both, Vincent frown and push Eullian a centimeter away to avoid Eugene from being crushed.

"Young master!" Raphael this time pull Eullian fearing that people around would happen to misunderstand and couldn't help but get irritated because of his young master's inconsiderate behavior.

"How could young master Eullian jumped around?"

"I wanted to play with Eugene!"

Vincent expressionlessly looks at Eullian and said, "Young master Eullian, you just recover from illness, you shouldn't push your body to this extend, I'm afraid the marquess will get angry if he found out."

In short, please refrain from coming near his young master knowing that the paranoid marquess will get angry again when she found out that her dearest son came near to her good-for-nothing son who is full of ill intentions toward blood-related siblings.

"B-But I just want to play with my brother."

"My young master is busy."

Eugene is trembling while hiding behind Vincent, not wanting to face the person who is the reason for his madness. Afraid that he would lose control and hurt the child that his mother and father treasure the most. At least, he wanted to avoid such a stupid thing of hurting his twin brother in this life so that his mother would also feel at ease.

For god's sake, he just wanted to live quietly.

His goal is not to come to terms with them but to settle down the future trouble that would befall the empire which would make not only his family and other nobles but also a thousand people suffer.

He wanted to avoid fiascos and prevent disaster.

His twin brother Eullian who is the future saint is a hindrance to him.

That's right, one of the reasons why his twin brother is beloved by everyone is because of the prophecy of him being the saint who would save the empire from catastrophe.

Everyone would love him, adore him, protect him.

While him? he would just live as a shadow...as Eullian's twin brother, that's all.

Even the woman he loved, despite being engaged to the duke still pawns over his little brother, adoring each other which is in the past, a pain in his eyes. Well, who wouldn't? He admits that Eullian is a lovable and innocent child, he is not tainted and no one could taint him. That's why Eullian who is also in love with the woman he loved kept his (Eullian) feelings because that woman's love is already given to him, the duke of Karsten.

Funny, he died alone and his little brother spends his lifetime alone too.

Eullian can't be loved romantically, can't be married for it is a sin.

What a good ending.

——"My mother knows that I'm outside to play."

"Good for you but too bad my young master has no time to play."

"What?" Eullian look at Vincent with wide eyes, can't believe that Vincent would refuse him because he is used to Vincent who would also assist him gently and protect him. That's why he prefers Vincent than Raphael but now? How could Vincent be so mean to him?

Won't even let him see and talk to his twin.

"Ngh." with tears forming in Eullians beautiful eyes, Vincent was shaken.

"T-This..."

Raphael saw this and frown, "Young master, there's no use to cry, young master Eugene seems busy and is headed to his residence."

Eugene glance at Raphael in surprise.

For a moment he saw Raphael he remember the past. Raphael is a bystander in everyone's life, he fulfills his duty as a butler but wouldn't do things against his morality. A person with a weak presence, in his memories, Raphael always watches everything unfold without expression as if nothing makes him happy, angry, or sad.

Raphael stood aside watching everyone just like how the audience watches a play.

Just thinking about it...

As if...

Raphael turn his gaze to Eugene when he saw the kid staring at him.

Vincent's attitude turns 360 degrees when he sees Eullian cry and is now busy coaxing Eullian while Eullian is also busy playing to be pitiful in front of Vincent and both didn't notice the tension between Raphael and Eugene.

Eugene's eyes are full of questions making Raphael retract his gaze.

This made Eugene more curious.

Artha is such a dangerous world. Your status depends on your value and if you hold nothing, being a commoner is only would be your status. In a world where greed, power, and status are the focus, you won't find a sober or normal person that could be defined as a good person.

Because everyone wears a mask, they're just twisted in different ways.

And the level of madness isn't also the same.

Jealousy. Ignorance. Selfishness. Cruelty.

Evil. Greed. Prejudice. Injustice.

When everyone is so busy obsessing over some things and some person, Raphael on the other hand does nothing.

It's impossible for a person to have no desire.

But Raphael's existence in his past life made his worldview collapse.

"How could it be possible?! I have money, a bunch of treasure elixirs, and my status is enough for you to take the deal as I promise your protection?! Tell me! What do you want to make you kill my brother?!"

"There's nothing young master Eugene."

Such an unambitious person.

While watching the hysterical Eugene, Raphael just stood still with his usual pair of calm expressionless eyes, not bothered or even fearing the consequences of refusing the notorious young master of the Shradinza Household.

In the end what?

Eugene swallowed.

He doesn't know what happen to Raphael because when he ordered someone to kill Raphael the assassination failed and Raphael disappeared.

Until he died, he doesn't know where Raphael is or if Raphael is still alive.

"Brother!"

"What?" Eugene came back to his senses and saw Eullian holding his arms.

Looking around, he saw Vincent and Raphael standing beside each other while looking at them and he stood frozen cause of Eullian's presence, fearing that if he moved, his hands would automatically push his twin brother.

He doesn't want another misunderstanding so he let Eullian pull him.

"Let's go and play beside the fountain!"

Ah. Heaven.

Just why so many challenges?

Aren't transmigrations and many transitions not enough to make him suffer? Actually, pushing him to get along with his twin brother?

The twin brother whom he used to hate?

Ah. How hateful.

"Brother when we go back to the academy can we live in one dormitory?"

Smiling like that towards me.

"I wanted to sleep in the same room with you cause it's lonely to sleep alone!"

It's so bright that it irritates me.

Just how? how could you smile so brightly? Is it because you are loved? Is it because you are the chosen son of god that you are so sweet?

I hate sweets. It makes my teeth ache.

Just like how such a smile hurt himself.

He would never be able to smile like that because unlike you who is full of ignorance, he...who experience the harshness of the world and was deprived of everything and is hurt enough to close himself have enough reason not to smile.

"Brother?"

"Hmmm."

Eugene looks ahead, "I don't want to play."

"Huh? Why?"

Letting out a hump, Eugene crosses his arms, "Because you're stupid and I don't like you."

"Also, don't come near me and call me brother."

Eullian stood frozen, shocked about what he heard.

Eugene didn't care, turn around and leave.

Vincent who saw Eullian's sad expression frowned, seemingly displeased by what Eugene said and Raphael still wear his usual expression, however, his eyes are watching Eugene who walk away, leaving Eullian crying.

Something changed.

Raphael's eyes glowed for a second and dimmed again.

Vincent wanted to follow Eugene but Eullian hugged his waits, refusing to let go: "Wohoho Vincent my brother is so bad, why he doesn't want me? I don't like it."

"Don't cry."

Vincent sigh and carry Eullian, coaxing him to calm down.

"You don't need to care, your young master already left, what are you still doing caring about another you aren't position to care for? Are you Eugene or Eullian's butler?"

"You--"

Raphael grab Eullian back and said, "Know your boundary. In work, there should be professionalism, not favoritism."

"Your priority is your young master the one you were assigned with. You can't go around protecting someone you aren't prioritized to protect, to begin with."
