Chapter 3: Cafeteria
Walking through the halls of his new school, Alex looked around, trying to familiarize himself with the place.
It was still quite confusing, however, and he had to look at the small map of the building that had been given to him this morning.
The halls were empty at the moment with only one or two students walking around here and there quickly heading their own ways.
Arriving at the doors of the Cafeteria, Alex pushed them open and walked in.
The Cafeteria was a huge hall with quite a few long tables and a counter on the right side where the food would be served but it seemed like he had come a bit late as everyone was already seated.
When he came into the hall, everyone turned their heads and stared in Alex's direction as if they were looking at an alien or some extra-terrestrial being.
Alex just sighed under his breath as he thought.
'I guess this is what happens when there's a transfer student in a small town high school.'
Deciding that he didn't have time for this, he went towards the counter to his left to see if there was any food left that he could take.
'Though I'm pretty sure I won't need to eat anything as a vampire, food is still delicious.' Alex thought as he arrived at his destination.
Behind him, the whole Cafeteria erupted into murmurs, and sadly, he could hear them all as if they were right next to him.
"Hey, isn't that the other transfer student?"
"Yeah, heard his name was Alex Swan, Bella's brother."
"He looks hot," Alex thought that voice sounded male but he quickly shook his head trying to get the thoughts outside his head as he tried to ignore the sounds which was proving quite the challenge with his newfound senses.
Behind the counter was a small woman wearing a white apron.
"Hey, sorry for being late but is there any food still left?" Alex said to the woman.
She just stood there and stared at him as if she were frozen on the spot.
"Uhm, Hello?" Alex waved at her.
"Ah yes sorry, I was stuck in my thoughts." The woman said as she revealed an embarrassed smile.
"Also there is food still left, let me go grab a tray and give it to you," She said as she went behind a door and came back quickly with a tray filled with food.
Alex nodded at her in thanks and grabbed the tray, turning around he looked at the room and quickly found Bella, deciding to sit with her.
'Considering I know no one right now besides the ones from the movies and books but even then I'm just a stranger to them still, guess I'll just stick to Bella for a while.' Alex thought as he started heading towards Bella's direction.
Bella was seated at a long table full of people but there was still a free chair next to her, she seemed to have secured it for Alex beforehand.
Arriving at the table, he raised his hand in greeting.
"Hey, mind if I sit here with you guys?" Alex asked the others seated at the table.
"Sure~!" said a girl with brown hair pulled up by a hair band.
'That's Jessica Stanley if I remember correctly,' Alex thought as he smiled at her and sat down.
The others then started introducing themselves as well.
"Hey! We met earlier today. I'm Eric Yorkie," the young Asian boy at the end of the table who introduced himself.
"Hey Eric, thanks for showing us around this morning," Alex replied as he smiled at him.
Another boy then grabbed Eric in a shoulder hug and, aimed his finger toward his face, and said.
"And I'm Mike Newton, one of the best basketball players in town, nice to meet you!" The young man said, he had blonde short hair and looked just like what Alex would think Popular kids in high school looked like.
"Nice to meet you too Mike, I also play a bit of Basketball on the side as a hobby, I'm sure I'm not as good as you though," Alex said when suddenly he felt a pinch in his abdomen.
Looking to his left, he saw Bella with a small frown on her face.
Pulling his head closer to her, Alex whispered.
"Huh? What's wrong?"
"Where were you all day? I couldn't find you at all," Bella said, her voice clearly showing her frustration.
"Ah, I had a stomach ache and had to skip some classes," Alex replied.
"Oooh, sibling secrets, is that it, and are you doing it right in front of us?" Mike said towards them with a slight grin.
"No, no, she was just asking me where I was during classes this morning," Alex replied to Mike, revealing a slight smile himself.
Alex then turned towards the last person on the table, it was a young girl who looked to be Asian with black hair pulled up in a loose ponytail behind her, wearing off-white colored rimmed glasses.
"Nice to meet you too, as I said I'm Alex Swan," Alex said to her trying to act as friendly as he could so that he'd appear more approachable to the others.
"Nice to meet you, Alex, I'm Angela Weber." The girl said in a small voice.
'Angela Weber, probably the nicest person on this table,' Alex thought as he stared at the woman who had once just been a fictional character.
'A nice friend to have,' Alex thought as he smiled a bit wider.
"Well if you don't mind me then I'm going to start eating, I'm starving already," Alex said to the others and lowered his head to look at the food on his tray.
And then he stopped.
'Right, I totally forgot that the food served in high schools is abhorrent' Alex's expression changed into faint disgust as he thought while looking at the food on his tray.
"Yeah, it's not really appetite-inducing, is it?" Jessica said as he looked at the food.
"What do you mean, it looks ok to me," Mike said and Eric seemed to agree with him as well as he nodded his head.
"Right..." Jessica and Angela said while looking at the boys.
"Well turns out I'm not that hungry," Alex said, his expression saddened at the thought that this was what he would get served here for the next year.
"Either way, what were you guys talking about while I wasn't here?" Alex asked, trying to start the conversation.
"Oh, we were just telling Bella about the Cullen's," Jessica replied with a faint smile as she crossed her hands in front of her chest while trying to show off to Alex.
'Is that supposed to impress me?' Alex thought as he looked at her.
"Right, the Cullen's. Why don't you tell me more about them as well?" Alex asked as he turned to look around the room as if in confusion.
'It'll be good to act like I don't know them, with how those disco ball vampires hold their rules then it would just bring trouble' Alex thought.
"Ah they're the ones at the end of the hall, the ones that look as if they're made of marble or something," Jessica said as pointed with her head in their direction.
Alex finally turned his head around and stared in the pointed direction.
There, seated at a table at the end of the Cafeteria, were the Disco Vampires.
'They really weren't joking when they described them as absolutely gorgeous in the books." Alex thought as he stared at the five individuals seated at the table.
There, seated at the table, Alex could see six people.
'Wait six? I thought I just transmigrated into the Gender Bend book universe.' Alex thought, startled.
