Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 334: Joining Forces

Prior to the contestants' realization that the freezing temperature would affect even their flame, Crimson Heart had already noticed the main conflict of the environment.

One, their reaction time and movement were definitely decreased by a large percentage.

Second, their mentality was going to be tested under such harsh conditions but still required to successfully forge a decent item up to Yaren's standard.

Finally, the control of the flame temperature would test their mana control in retaining its power.

All these conflicts were difficult even for those at the Master Level blacksmith. After all, nobody would be attempting to forge under such conditions with their expertise.

However, this was a competition and whatever the conductor wanted to do, that was the final.

'Am I really going to fail because of a lunatic conductor?' Crimson Heart was unwilling to admit defeat under such a situation. She didn't come all the way here, fulfilling all the prerequisites to obtain a participation slot, only to end up winning nothing.

Amidst her frustration, Crimson Heart heard some of the audience gasping and talking about a particular contestant.

"Oi, look at that contestant. They are fine and are calmly arranging the materials."

"Hah, so it wasn't just a bootlicker, but someone who got the skills to back it up."

"How come I never heard of them before? They seemed to be from Star Falls City based on the data."

'Bootlicker… Star Falls City?' Alarmed, Crimson Heart recalled that only one person fulfilled such a statement: Xu Feng.

Without further ado, she paused her work and gazed around, searching for him.

Sure enough, after a few seconds, Crimson Heart noticed the calm composure of Xu Feng.

"How is he unaffected by the coldness?" She exclaimed in shock. Currently, she was utilizing an item to heat her body to prevent the cold from doing any further damage.

After watching him for a while, Crimson Heart gritted her teeth and decided to walk toward him.

"Can you help me out a bit, Feng?" She asked him with much difficulty.

Never once did she expect she would request assistance from another player after joining the Divine World.

Simultaneously, Xu Feng also didn't expect Crimson Heart to take the step of approaching him and asking for his help.

He even began to wonder if this was the Crimson Heart in his recollection or if he had mistakenly taken her as someone else. After all, usernames could be used on multiple people. There were no restrictions.

However, his suspicion disappeared once Crimson Heart retrieved a Tier 3 offensive scroll.

"If you agree to help me, then I'll give you this scroll." Crimson Heart felt her heart bleed when she offered this scroll up. It was really a ludicrous offer to use the scroll in such a manner, but there wasn't much choice she had.

Her mana was almost spent in keeping the gear functioning, so the flame she could control was definitely not enough to forge a proper item.

Glancing at the Tier 3 offensive scroll, Xu Feng was silent. Instead of replying straight to her, he turned his attention to Yaren.

"Conductor Yaren, it's not against the rule if we assist a fellow contestant, right?" He asked softly. "This is similar to the discussion we had earlier, and that a blacksmith should use whatever utilities and connections they have to ensure their success."

The audience was stunned when Xu Feng raised such a question and followed it up with such an explanation.

He was blatantly asking if they could cheat, but in his defense, they were merely using their connection to succeed.

"Will Elder Yaren even accept such a nonsensical proposal?"

"I doubt it. This is a competition we're talking about after all!"

"Indeed, who has ever heard of a contestant helping another contestant out. It was already generous if they didn't sabotage each other."

Yet much to their astonishment, Yaren shrugged her shoulders. "I don't really care if you want to assist each other, but will the assistance be genuine or sabotage, that's for you to experience."

"I understand, Conductor Yaren." Xu Feng nodded in response, having understood her meaning. She was not against contestants joining forces, but she did warn that people are nefarious and that whether they could be trusted or not was their decision alone.

Therefore, despite her technical approval of contestants being allowed to join forces, barely anyone actually did so.

"So, do you really trust me?" Xu Feng mused and turned to her. With the restriction of the system interface during the competition, one could not establish a contract.

Thus, Crimson Heart could not guarantee he would be honorable. After all, they had barely met and rarely interacted much as opposed to his interaction with Carmen.

Crimson Heart merely smirked coldly, "If you had wanted to sabotage me, then you would have simply sat back and done nothing during the preliminary test already."

It was as if she was taunting him for his low tactic or dampening her confidence. Additionally, she was telling him to not underestimate her intelligence and treat her like some brainless player.

"Very well, what do you need my assistance for?" Xu Feng asked.

"My mana is not sufficient to create a strong flame, but if you can help me with the flame, then I don't mind completing the forging for you." Crimson Heart replied honestly. "If you're worried about me doing foul play, then I can complete your forge first."

"You are quite the schemer." Xu Feng mused, "By doing the forge for me, you are trying to learn my forging design."

Even at this point, Crimson Heart was truly sly. From her speech, she made it seem like she was being honorable and was going to do the forge for him, but the truth was, she would learn his design.

The Tier 1 Stamina Gemstone was a learning design, so in theory, anyone who knew about its procedure would have learned it regardless if they had the actual design or not. It was different from some designs that required the design paper itself to complete the final process.
