Replacement Bride for the Alpha of the North

Chapter 7: SHE HATED EVERYTHING

The last thing Dawn remembered was a pair of strong arms catching her body when she lost consciousness. His body felt so warm when her face got pressed against his chest. The beating of his strong heart soothed her ears.

But the moment she regained her consciousness, it was not the peaceful darkness that greeted her.

Dawn could hear a commotion brewing in the distance and her body swayed, as if the ground was not steady, but soon after, she realized that it was because she was inside a carriage, a comfortable one to say the least.

Yet, when the commotion grew louder, the carriage stopped moving and Dawn opened her eyes.

At first, she couldn't string the words that those people out there said, but then she recognized his voice. It had been a long time since the last time she heard his voice. His voice used to bring her happiness and calmness every time she was not in her right mind, but then this same exact voice had brought her the most excruciating pain she ever had to endure. She despised him now.

Dawn opened her eyes and was thankful because the sun was not bright, and from the looks of the striking red color along the horizon, the sun must have set just now.

She hauled herself up from the comfort of the makeshift bed and furrowed her brows. Why was she here? She felt very weak and out of strength.

But most importantly, she felt this urge to get out of this carriage. Someone had put her here, which meant she would be taken somewhere.

"Return her back to me and you can leave!" Blake roared angrily. He stood in front of the entrance gates. He looked very livid and this was the first time for Dawn to hear how angry Blake was. He used to be a sweet man, who had never raised his voice at all. He always avoided confrontation.

In the distance, she could see Alpha Tony, Beta Jason and a dozen warriors approaching them. They were in their beast form, but shifted back into their human form once they got closer to them.

"Blake! Back off!" Beta Jason barked an order at his son. He looked mortified that Blake dared to block the entourage of Alpha Zenith. Alpha Tony was right behind his beta.

"I will not! I will not let him take Dawn away from this pack! She is my mate! He doesn't have any right to take her away from me!" Blake barked back at his father. He looked very obstinate at this point. There was nothing that could move him. "Dawn!"

Blake caught sight of Dawn, who was standing next to the carriage. She leaned against it to support her body and with that, all of their attention was shifted to her, which made her uncomfortable.

She was completely clueless as to what had transpired, or how long she had been unconscious for.

"Get inside the carriage and rest."

Dawn got startled when she heard this deep and dark voice from behind her as a warm and big palm landed on her shoulder. She turned around and found this huge alpha, he moved very swiftly and smoothly for someone as big as him.

"No," Dawn replied in her hoarse voice and immediately lowered her head when she caught his sharp eyes. She didn't want to admit it, but this alpha scared her. He was very intimidating.

"Do as you please," Zenith said gruffly and then walked forward to approach Blake, who was in the middle of a heated argument with his father. "We are going to leave now. You can move out of my way, or I can get rid of you out of my sight."

Dawn frowned when she looked at her surroundings, she felt like she was standing on the wrong side, because all of the people she knew were standing across from her. She couldn't care less about Blake, all she wanted was to be surrounded by people she was familiar with.

"Stay where you are!" Zenith commanded, even without him looking at Dawn, he knew she was going to approach her people.

Dawn was startled once again with the Alpha's thunderous voice.

"What? No!" Dawn protested, she looked over to her father, as if asking him to come and get her, but his answer constituted the most devastating words that she had ever heard.

"Stay there, Dawn. You need to go with him," Alpha Tony said through his gritted teeth and Blake growled at the Alpha.

"Are you abandoning me?" Dawn couldn't believe what she just heard. She tightened her grip on the carriage, to prevent herself from falling. She felt like she was about to faint again.

Right at that time, another carriage arrived and Emily and her mother stepped out from it.

"Blake! What are you doing here?!" Emily had tears in her eyes. "Are you out of your mind?" She put her hand over her flat stomach, this was a gesture to remind him that she was carrying his flesh and blood and it seemed, it was quite effective to suppress his anger. "Let go of my sister, let her be happy with the mate she has chosen for herself."

Dawn raised her brows. Another nonsense that hurt her ears. Right at that time, Zenith turned around and caught the hatred in her eyes once again. This woman, who would be his mate, seemingly hated everything.

Zenith might appear not to care, but he observed everything around him meticulously.

"Do you really want me to go with him, father?" Dawn was trembling when she tried to control her anger.

Now, Zenith witnessed how the hatred in her eyes turned into sadness.

"Yes."

The answer was very soft, but it was enough for Dawn to turn around and climb into the carriage again. She couldn't care less about where she would go and what kind of person Alpha Zenith was anymore, because right now, her heart got shattered into a million pieces.

However, before she could enter the carriage, she heard a beast roar, it was Blake, who had shifted into his beast and attacked Alpha Zenith.
