Chapter 39: Dwarven Contract

Dragonhide was one of the more common materials, though even though it was common, it didn't mean it was cheap. It was still something that was way out of reach of the common person, even within the Valyrian Freehold.

Ten thousand Gold Dragon Coins was also a tremendous sum because the Valyrian coins were one of the purest out there. There were not many currencies that were purer in their composition than the Valyrian currency.

Currencies like Valyrian Coins, Golden Empire of Yi Ti, or dwarven underground kingdoms were very pure in terms of Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Thus, they were much more valuable, and their buying strength was much stronger.

Compared to the Westerosi Coinage or the coinage of some city-states, the ratio was sometimes even 1:3 or 1:4, depending on the origin of the coins. Originally, Valkorion planned to spend a maximum of around 3,000 Gold Dragon Coins because he really needed much better armor.

Or, in his case, everything was better compared to the rags that he was wearing right now, as he was rather cheapstake. On the other matter, he had to admit that till now, it was enough for him because till now, he was fighting only ordinary monsters.

Mostly goblins and weaker bugbears, nothing that powerful that would be able to kill him, even if he was facing a severe numerical disadvantage. However, after experiencing the more unfortunate encounters with the Extraordinary, Creatures made him seriously reconsider his position.

And from what he could see about the Hunter Outfit, as he called it in his head, it should be able to remain with him even for the Mid Sequences because the materials are already superb.

The sole things that the outfit laced were the Enchantments and some Runes engraved on it that would boost its defensive capabilities. But, if those were included, then, the price would be way above 100,000 Gold Dragon Coins.

"Hmm... we can agree on that, though you will need to give me some guidelines so I can recognize the ores when I find them."

In the end, Valkorion agreed to the proposal of the Dwarven Forge Master, because it was rather a fair offer. Right now that he has obtained the Dimensional Bag Storage, which is relatively large, he can store the ores and metals that he can find in the Painted Mountains.

It was rather easy because he didn't even need to mine it; he would rather need to find the goblinoids that were mining the ore veins and just take their stash. It was as easy as it could get because this was rather common practice among the Adventurers.

"Excellent. I am gonna bring the contract."

The dwarf then happily clapped his hands as he went to another room to bring the contract, as it was a large part of their culture, apparently. From what he read in the books, the dwarves were serious about their contract, and when they entered the contract, the dwarves would always adhere to the conditions of the contract.

Valkorion waited for the dwarf to return with the large parchment that was rather long and old-looking; he also felt some kind of energy radiating from the parchment because it was clearly the Beyonder Contract Geass.

"Here it is. By the way, the name's Goti Hammerson."

The dwarf introduced himself as he passed Valkorion the Contract Geass, as he took it from the hands of the dwarf while Valkorion also shook the hand of the Dwarven Forge Master with equal strength.

"Valkorion Nerona, it seems that we would be working together, though I would first need to go through the condition of the Contract before agreeing to it."

After Valkorion introduced himself, he started carefully reading the terms of the contract, the conditions, and the obligations of the parties and searching for anything hidden in the lines, and when he came to the conclusion that it was free of any traps, he decided to sign the contract.

With this being signed, he was obliged to search for some rare metals and ores within the Painted Mountains and sell them to the Hammerson Armored Forge at basic price, which was essentially the lowest price at which the ore could be procured.

This price typically consisted of the price of mining metal, basically the average wage in the underground kingdoms for the miner for mining some amount of ore and the transportation costs.

It was still better than nothing, Valkorion, though; at least he would be able to get paid for bringing the ores to the Forge Master Hammerson. At the same time, the duration of the contract was until the entire sum of 5,000 Gold Dragon Coins was paid off.

For Valkorion, these conditions were very good, in fact, because either way, he would be adventuring to the Painted Mountains, and there were a lot of occasions when he ensconced large amounts of mined ores, but he could move them as he lacked reliable Dimensional Storage.

Unfortunately, only lately was he having luck in finding bigger loot and obtaining more riches, not to mention the fact that most of the profit that he obtained during the past years had been used to repair and maintain the manor he was living in.

Because the Tenebraenys House wasn't using it almost at all. Initially, it was rather in a bad state, so Valkorion was forced to invest a lot of money into repairing parts of the manor that he was using.

In the end, he couldn't have his roof falling apart.

When everything was decided, Forge Master Goti Hammerson gave Valkorion the Hunter Outfitt hat he purchased, as Valkorion immediately went to change to one of the empty rooms, as well to dispose of the leather armor that he was wearing till now.

In the end, even though he left there five thousand Gold Dragon Coins, he was rather satisfied with the outcome as he knew that this would last him until the Mid Sequences, and later on, he could slowly find some Runemaster and pay him to inscribe runes on the armor to increase its durability and defensive capabilities.

Runemasters were very rare among the dwarves and almost non-existent among the humanists because the art of the Rune Smithing was art that was almost exclusive to the Dwarves, and it was their legacy that they guarded with precious jealousy.

Among the dwarven society, it was the most respected occupation, and the Runemasters were enjoying very high social status, that was for sure.

"Also, can I order some custom-made sheath for this sword?"

After Valkorion changed to the hunter outfit that he bought from the Hammerson Forge Store, he showed the sword for the Forge Master Goti Hammerson.

"Can I see yer sword?"

Valkorion nodded to the question as he showed the sword to the Forge Master Goti Hammerson he could see the astonishment in the dwarf's eyes. His eyes almost sparked when he saw the sword, because he could see its power.

Not to mention, as a very experienced Forge Master and unbeknownst to Valkorion, as a very respected Rune Master, Runesmith, and Mid Sequence Beyonder of the Savant Pathway could see that the sword was an extraordinary piece of work.

Even within the Karaz Ankor, it would be considered a priceless treasure, and that was something that Goti Hammerson could certainly say.
