Shadow Slave: Love is Worth Waiting for

Chapter 31: Staying the Night

The rest of the meal was spent in silence. Both Sunny and Morgan somehow managed to maintain proper decorum while eating, but neither spent their time talking.

Morgan was surprised at the sheer volume of meat he had brought out after the first presentation. She knew he would have made more, but not that much more.

She was already mostly full, but was still eating because she couldn't help herself. It was heavenly, she hadn't yet tasted the meat of a great nightmare creature, let alone one that had been prepared so masterfully like this.

Morgan was understandably awestruck. This was why she didn't hold back, eating as much as her body would allow, which was a lot more than an average human.

Still, she had just barely managed to finish her share when the meat he had brought out was depleted. Morgan felt more tired than she usually did after a battle.

"It's a shame…" She spoke softly, but Sunny's ears perked up. "I should have asked you if I could take some with me instead of eating it all."

He tilted his head at her, momentarily confused, then he chuckled. "This was just the stuff I brought out. I cooked a tenth of the demon." Morgan's eyes widened.

A great demon was naturally massive, so even a tenth of its meat was enough of a supply to feed a single person for weeks. He continued, "In fact, I've already packed up some of it for you."

The astonishment in her eyes faded, replaced by amusement. "I feel like I've just been getting gifts, I haven't given you anything."

Sunny smiled at her. "You're enough of a gift for me." He looked over at the clock that was hanging on the wall before turning back to her. "Do you have anything you need to do early tomorrow morning?"

Morgan raised an eyebrow. "Not anything important. Why?" He looked at her somewhat sheepishly and spoke with a hint of embarrassment.

"It's getting pretty late. Do you want to just stay over?" She looked at him, an amused grin playing on her lips.

"Ah, so that's what it is." Sunny slinked back in his chair. Morgan couldn't help but tease him, his reactions were too good for her to miss out on.

He seemed to regret ever saying anything, but soon perked up when he heard Morgan speak once again. "Sure, I haven't worn the new clothes you made for me yet anyway."

She wasn't going to say no. Morgan was teasing Sunny before, but she would have killed even a corrupted titan for merely the opportunity. If given such a chance for free, why wouldn't she take it?

Morgan got up from the table. She wasn't lying about not having worn the clothes he made for her yet. She hadn't slept the previous night, so she never got the chance to.

'I wonder how it will look on me…' She was planning to change right that second, but decided it was better to tell Sunny first.

"Do you mind if I go get changed while you clear the table?" Sunny didn't seem to process her words for a long time, but she tilted her head which brought him back to his senses.

"Yes! Of course. I'll be there shortly." Morgan smiled and nodded, walking to Sunny's room. The Silk Clothes were a memory so she didn't need to get changed into them, but her suit wasn't one.

Morgan decided to find some privacy to change, so she chose Sunny's room. Walking into the familiar room, she sat on the bed. It was the only surface that she wouldn't fall through when not wearing shoes after all.

She swiftly undressed and summoned the memory, a storm of white sparks coalescing around her body. 'Ah…' Morgan belatedly realised that she had never given Sunny any of her measurements.

The clothes hung loosely off of her, barely keeping her dignity. She let her mind wander to the obsidian ring and spoke through the connection.

[Sunny?] She asked. His response came shortly after.

[Yeah?] Morgan hesitated for a moment, but he seemed to understand what her problem was. [If it's about the clothes, they have an active enchantment that lets you change how they look.]

Morgan smiled before realising he couldn't see her, so she spoke through the ring once again. [Thanks.]

There was no response after that so she simply turned her attention to the memory. Pouring her essence into the clothes, she found an enchantment she could activate.

Morgan focused a bit and watched the clothes shrink to her figure. She tried a few other things and found out that they could also change shapes into anything she thought of.

Morgan turned them into a simple gown and then back into a shirt and pants. Having grown up wearing a suit instead of a dress, she was more comfortable in those clothes.

She looked up after hearing a knock on the door and smiled. "Come in." Upon her command, the door opened and Sunny walked in. He was already wearing more comfortable clothes.

'They both must be memories.' Morgan smiled at him. "These are really comfortable. Thank you." Sunny grinned back at her.

"I created it myself, of course it's comfortable." She scoffed at his response but soon grinned back at him.

"Are you going to just stand there or come over here?" Sunny stood for a moment, but then flicked off the lights and made his way over to the bed.

Morgan crawled under the covers on the wall side as he made his way up and flipped over the sheets to get in. Soon they were facing each other in the darkness.

Morgan moved forwards and gave him a small kiss before speaking softly. "Turn around." Sunny did as she asked, turning and facing away from her.

She took the opportunity to wrap her arms around him, embracing him from behind. Feeling especially comforted by the warmth of his body, she smiled.

"Good night." She whispered, before closing her eyes and falling into a blissful sleep.
