Sharingan Evolution: Proficiency's Path

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Targeted

"Kill!"

Just as the two sides of ninja stood in a tense standoff, someone suddenly shouted, and the battle erupted instantly.

The first to act were dozens of Leaf ninjas near the Iwa ninja forces. They threw kunai, but due to the lack of surprise, the Iwa ninjas easily dodged, and the attack failed to cause any real damage.

The Iwa ninjas quickly counterattacked.

They swiftly formed hand signs and spat out small stones from their mouths. The stones started small but grew larger as they traveled, transforming into solid cannonballs that rained down on the Leaf ninjas.

This technique, called Earth Release: Rock Iron Cannon, was a basic jutsu. On its own, the damage was minimal, but when used in large numbers, it was like a meteor shower, significantly increasing its threat.

Luckily, the Leaf ninjas assigned to the front lines were strong, and no one was seriously injured.

After the initial exchange, both sides realized their opponents were not easy to deal with, and so they abandoned the ineffective long-range attacks and engaged in close-quarters combat.

Soon, the battlefield was a chaotic mix of explosions, screams, and the sounds of weapons clashing. The noise was overwhelming.

Ao was still observing the battle ahead when a faint buzzing sound reached his ears, like the flapping of wings.

"Bees?"

Startled, Ao quickly turned toward the source of the sound.

He saw a bee the size of a human head flying toward him at high speed, followed by a large swarm of slightly smaller bees.

Without needing to think, Ao knew these bees had been artificially bred.

Not only did bees in the wild not grow that large, but their instinct to avoid danger would keep them far from a battlefield.

Moreover, there was a clan in Iwagakure that specialized in using bees for combat.

The situation matched perfectly. Ao could easily guess what was happening.

His gaze scanned the area and soon locked onto a short, ugly Iwa ninja in a jonin uniform, who even resembled a bee in some ways.

But the most striking detail was the two-meter-long giant bee by his side, looking fierce and menacing.

This Iwa ninja was extremely sharp. As soon as Ao glanced in his direction, he was spotted.

Noticing Ao in the treetops and the Uchiha crest on his clothing, Red Bee grinned wickedly. He immediately commanded his swarm of bees to rush toward Ao.

Seeing this, Ao quickly jumped down from the tree, preparing to retreat.

However, these bees were incredibly fast, and before Ao could cover much ground, they had already caught up.

Next, the bees raised their backsides and fired their stingers.

For ordinary bees, losing their stingers meant death, but these bees were different. Their stingers were merely one of their many attack methods.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—a barrage of stingers shot toward Ao.

Knowing he couldn't take the attack head-on, Ao swiftly dodged behind a large tree.

A series of thud thud thud sounds followed as the stingers embedded themselves into the tree trunk, failing to harm Ao.

But before he could catch his breath, a loud buzzing grew around him, and bees swarmed out from both sides of the tree, surrounding him completely.

Realizing the threat, Ao wasted no time. He quickly formed hand signs and, before the bees could fire another round of stingers, he unleashed a jutsu—Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique.

Several fireballs shot out from his mouth like scattered blossoms, flying toward the swarm of bees.

Though these bees were much stronger than natural ones, they were still carbon-based lifeforms.

When faced with fire, they had no choice but to avoid it.

However, Ao's jutsu wasn't so easily dodged.

Even without activating his Sharingan, Ao's current mastery of chakra and familiarity with the Phoenix Sage Fire Technique allowed him to control the fireballs with precision, striking the bees accurately.

Pop pop pop—a series of explosions rang out as the bees were scorched by the intense heat, their bodies swelling before bursting into charred corpses, filling the air with the smell of burnt flesh.

"You brat! You're dead!"

Red Bee screeched in fury, his eyes bloodshot as he felt his bee swarm rapidly decrease in numbers.

He commanded the massive bee by his side to charge, bringing an even larger swarm toward Ao.

Meanwhile, the remaining bees that survived the earlier attack turned their attention back to Ao, spraying thick, sticky honey from their mouths.

Ao knew he couldn't let the honey touch him, so he dodged quickly.

Thanks to his mastery of the Leaf-Style Swordsmanship, which he had trained to level 3, Ao was far more agile than the average ninja. Otherwise, he might have been in real trouble.

However, as Ao glanced at the approaching massive swarm, he realized he had to reduce the number of bees quickly. If they all gathered together, it would be much harder to deal with them.

After some thought, he decided that fire release was still the most effective option.

After evading another wave of stingers, Ao made the hand signs while running, and once again spewed out multiple fireballs from his mouth.

Red Bee quickly commanded the bees to dodge, but Ao's high level of proficiency with the technique meant not all of them could escape.

In the end, another large portion of the bee swarm was burned to ash, their charred bodies falling to the ground.

Seeing this, Red Bee's eyes turned even redder with fury. If not for the fact that there were no tomoe in his eyes, Ao might have thought the man was about to awaken the Sharingan.

Of course, that was just a joke.

As the remaining swarm drew closer to him, Ao seized the opportunity to use the Body Flicker Technique, putting more distance between himself and the bees.

He then unleashed another Phoenix Sage Fire Technique, continuing to slaughter the pursuing bees.

The saying "If one move works, keep using it" rang true.

Since the Phoenix Sage Fire Technique was effective, Ao naturally kept using it whenever he got the chance.

For the next half a minute, Ao used the trees as cover, evading the bee swarm's attacks while casting jutsu to counterattack.

Eventually, before the two massive swarms could merge, he managed to destroy most of the first wave.

But that was as far as he could go.

Red Bee, with his giant bee and the rest of the swarm, had finally encircled Ao completely.

It had to be said that this clan, once famous alongside the Aburame clan, still had some tricks up its sleeve despite their decline.

Several times, Ao had almost broken through the encirclement, but each time, Red Bee skillfully controlled his swarm to block his escape, minimizing their losses.

This left Ao feeling cornered.

As he looked at the dense swarm surrounding him, Ao smiled bitterly to himself. "It seems I'll have to improvise from here on out."

The encirclement opened briefly, and Red Bee stepped forward with a dark expression on his face.

Glaring at the fully alert Ao, he snarled through clenched teeth, "You Uchiha brat, you've killed so many of my bees. Now, tell me, how should I deal with you?"

"Uchiha..."

Hearing the emphasis on his surname, Ao glanced at the Uchiha crest on his clothing and, thinking about the fall of the Kamizuru Clan, immediately understood.

Red Bee harbored deep hatred not just for the Aburame Clan but for all Leaf clans. He had extended his grudge to anyone from the village.

"This might be a chance to provoke him," Ao thought, a new idea forming in his mind.

If it had been any other Iwa jonin, Ao wouldn't have dared. But this one, who mainly relied on bees and was likely only a Tokubetsu Jonin, wasn't as intimidating.

If he could successfully take out Red Bee, the swarm would no longer be a threat.
