Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Power-Type Opponent
With a buzz, a surge of dark energy Tony Stark had seen before quickly spread from beneath his feet, attempting to engulf him completely. However, just in the nick of time, JARVIS assisted Tony's armor in dodging this dark energy attack, causing General Samos, who wore a smile on his face, to stiffen.
"Dark space? Don't these guys have any other tricks?" Tony muttered to himself after evading the attack.
"If they used other means, it might not have been so easy to dodge..." JARVIS responded in a somber tone. The reason they could avoid the dark space was due to their prior experience battling General Bartz, where Tony had been trapped in dark space before. Although Tony still hadn't found a way to break free from dark space, JARVIS had successfully recorded its power.
Thus, when the same power appeared again, JARVIS promptly helped Tony evade, neutralizing General Samos's attack.
"Whizz!" After dodging the dark space, Tony didn't care about the potential destruction to the area anymore. He retaliated by firing his palm repeller directly at General Samos's location!
Being trapped in dark space was not a pleasant experience, especially since it would sever the connection between Tony and JARVIS. After such an incident, Tony should have repaired or even developed a standalone version of JARVIS to prevent future disconnections.
However, Tony had been preoccupied with researching new types of vampires with Mysterio and hadn't found the time to upgrade or copy a standalone JARVIS. It was unexpected that Tony would encounter another masked villain so soon, a stroke of luck even Batman might envy!
"Boom!" Tony's palm repeller did not hit General Samos but instead blasted a huge crater in the street, shaking the ground nearby. By then, General Samos had already disappeared...
Fortunately, Pepper's evacuation efforts had not been in vain. The nearby civilians had been mostly evacuated by Pepper and JARVIS, so the battle wouldn't harm many people. Any remaining bystanders unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire were simply out of luck...
"Buzz!" As Tony's palm repeller missed its target, he sensed familiar dark energy fluctuations beneath him. However, this time it wasn't an attack from the dark space but General Samos summoning his own shadow trolls!
These shadow trolls were large and burly, with great strength and heavy defense, reminiscent of sumo wrestlers. Their sizes could even be compared to giants like Broly and Trunks!
Although fewer in number than the previous shadow ninjas or shadow warriors, these shadow trolls exuded a much more powerful aura...
"Swish!"
The shadow trolls worked together, hurling each other towards Tony Stark in the air. It seemed these shadow trolls couldn't fly, or perhaps only General Bartz's shadow bats had the ability to fly on their own power within the shadow army.
Seeing the shadow trolls lunging towards him, Tony swiftly elevated his armor to dodge their attacks. Unexpectedly, one of the shadow trolls soared into the air and struck Tony's armor with a powerful punch.
"Bang!" Tony's armor was sent crashing into a nearby building, piercing through it and emerging on the other side.
"Armor integrity at 95%!" JARVIS quickly reported, causing Tony's expression to darken. Though 95% integrity might seem high, it was just from one punch by General Samos, and it was unclear whether it was even his full strength. If not, Tony's armor might not withstand several more such punches!
"How could this happen? Last time in the dark space, even after numerous exchanges with General Bartz, my armor didn't sustain such damage. Why did it get damaged from just one punch this time?" Tony mused incredulously, looking in the direction of General Samos.
Recalling his last fight with General Bartz, where he had engaged in close combat without JARVIS's assistance and sustained minimal damage until Bartz discovered the weak point in his armor, leading to both getting trapped and the armor's destruction in a powerful clash of energies...
Now, just one punch from General Samos had severely damaged his armor, indicating that Tony might have a hard time fighting, let alone defeating, General Samos in a prolonged battle.
Indeed, Tony realized that the shadow troll that had launched a surprise attack and flown was actually General Samos in disguise. This revelation meant that the seemingly brute General Samos was also cunning, making him even more challenging to handle...
"JARVIS has notified the Saiyans, and Mysterio is on his way..." JARVIS informed Tony. "From the available intel, this shadow troll excels in strength but not speed, which is considerably slower than General Bartz's, hence his reliance on surprise attacks..."
"I understand!" Tony nodded upon hearing JARVIS's analysis and issued new orders. "Has the battle in other areas concluded? Since we can't move the battlefield
, call in the armors from other areas. Avoid close combat and focus on restraining this guy!"
"Boom!" Just as Tony finished speaking, the building he was near trembled violently before collapsing, an attempt by General Samos to bury Tony and the building together.
"Rumble!"
As the dust from the collapsed building spread, Tony's eyes lit up. He wasn't sure if General Samos could detect opponents through the dust like he could. Having been blasted away and with his armor damaged, Tony had no intention of engaging in close combat again. Instead, he chose to aim from a distance and launched a sneak attack.
"Whizz!"
A barely audible sound flickered through the dust, and a laser shot towards General Samos. But just as the laser was about to hit, his form shifted into that of a regular shadow troll, the laser piercing through but causing no damage to Samos himself.
"Damn! This guy's alert!" Tony cursed under his breath, refraining from rash actions since he didn't want to be blasted away again. Seeing the shadow trolls retreating underground, Tony decisively left his position and flew up, widening the distance.
"Boom!" As soon as Tony's figure vanished, a massive fist slammed into the ground where he had just been, shaking the earth.
"Rumble!" Seizing the moment, Tony fired an unrestrained palm repeller towards the source of the movement. Another loud noise followed, stirring up the dust again, and the area fell into an eerie silence once more.
Meanwhile, at Diana's home, Robert, who had recently fought alongside Diana, was resting and planning to stay a few more days when he received a message from JARVIS seeking assistance.
"Another mask?" A flicker of surprise crossed Robert's eyes. These masks were appearing faster than he had anticipated. While some backers of the shadow army were still unaccounted for, the intelligence from JARVIS indicated that this new mask and shadow army were previously unseen.
"Masks? What are those?" Diana, puzzled, turned to Robert and asked, "Are you leaving again?"
"Yes, Tony Stark, the Iron Man, needs help. We weren't on great terms before, but things have improved recently. He's quite tactful, holding back his urge to defeat me and even preparing several delicious meals for me," Robert explained softly.
"As for the masks, they are demons with dark powers sealed into the form of masks, seemingly linked to a dark dimension. This dimension is somewhat unique as it appears to have rooted itself on Earth, unlike other dimensions which require smuggling to cross over..."
"By the way, during my battle with Heimdall in Asgard, I felt that the dark power Heimdall later used was very similar to the power behind the masks. Do you know what power they were using?"
"Hmm, I haven't heard of that..." Diana shook her head. Although well-traveled and knowledgeable, most of her information came from the books on Themyscira. She was not very familiar with the details between dimensions, having not encountered them before.
"If it's a power from Hell's dimension, I might know a bit. After all, every pantheon has some connection to Hell's dimension, with each pantheon having a deity serving in Hell. Thus, using Hell's power isn't too difficult. Of course, Heaven is a bit special, but they still send people into Hell's dimension, which makes it hard to say they aren't stealing Hell's power..."
"But I don't know much about the Dark Dimension, because there are just so many of them. Besides Hell, there are countless dimensions named after darkness, using dark powers. It's just that the Dark Dimension hasn't unified like Hell has; otherwise, its power would undoubtedly not be inferior..."
"There are many Dark Dimensions? Then the likelihood that Asgard and the masks share the same power source is significantly reduced..." Robert nodded in understanding, then looked at Diana tentatively, "I'm not going back; I'm going to help Tony Stark. Would you like to come and see?"
"It's alright. You're quite satisfactory to me now, in appearance, strength, and combat ability. I won't make it difficult for you..." Diana looked deeply at Robert, who appeared slightly guilty, before smiling and saying, "As for America, unless you encounter difficulties or there's a major crisis, I won't go there. Otherwise, that young girl might glare at me angrily... Ah! Why did I soften my heart and leave first, missing the opportunity?"
"Cough, I'll come over often!" Robert coughed lightly, hastily reassuring Diana.
"Make sure you come with full energy, not drained by some young girls, unable to fight or even battle..." Diana said with a teasing smile.
"You can rest assured about that; don't you know my combat abilities?" Robert patted his chest confidently. As a Saiyan, he feared no battle, no matter the form of combat!
"Go then, don't waste any more time..."
Diana waved her hand, dressed lightly, and said, "If you encounter an insurmountable problem, don't just endure it. Although you've caught up to me in strength, it doesn't mean I can't offer you the help you need. Remember, my strength progresses too, so feel free to contact me, okay?"
"Rest assured, I won't let you surpass me again!" Robert was much more relaxed, tapping his wristwatch. Without even needing to transform, a set of martial arts attire covered him, and with a flash, he left Diana's home.
"Guardian? Take me to..." After leaving Diana's home, Robert contacted the Guardians, using the magic base as a relay to teleport to where Tony Stark and General Samos were.
