Surviving as a Con Artist at the Academy

Chapter 275

275th Episode. Summer Rest – Magical Girl (1)

After briefly tending to Nebia who fainted, I finally got to enjoy some water play.

She settled down and could play after clinging to me, having regained her composure.

Now, it was entertaining to see Angela and Nebia splashing around with smiles on their faces as they grew closer.

Though, it was quite excessive that Angela used me as a shield when splashing water.

It was truly a fun day, if not for Senior Riplain wandering around and nearly blinding me with her sunbeams.

That unfortunate incident made it eerie to see Senior Riplain smiling while being excluded by everyone.

No one else besides Senior Trisha was playing with her.

‘Something about the atmosphere between those two feels off.’

The next morning dawned.

Today was the day we would head to a coastal village to buy souvenirs.

We couldn’t just go for a swim after coming all this way.

And it wasn’t merely to satisfy our hunger either.

It was due to a notification we received from our professors before arriving at this resort.

──────────────────

Radian Bersern ♥ Stella Vermillion

Wedding Date Confirmed!

──────────────────

The notification received from the Student ID Archive on the first day of summer vacation.

Those of us who checked it, including myself, were left agape as if struck by lightning from a clear sky.

It was utterly shocking and breath-stealing news.

Of course, this notification only reached students who knew about their relationship.

Thus, we were planning to procure souvenirs or party supplies in this town to celebrate their marriage.

It’s fresher and better here than what’s sold in Aligieri.

By the way….

‘Is that really the same Professor Stella who stayed single until the end…?’

Could it really be the Stella I knew?

My heart felt as if it were swelling with emotion.

Anyway, I should get up quickly. I might have overslept.

“Ugh….”

That wasn’t my voice. But who does this voice belong to as I get out of bed?

“Ugh… Senior….”

Next to me, messy green hair lay sprawled out.

When did she sneak in here? I couldn’t help but smirk at Nebia, who was mumbling in her sleep beside me.

“What kind of mental state is it to suddenly invade someone else’s room and sleep together?”

“What about it? I wasn’t caught anyway.”

I went out to the nearby village with Nebia.

This town boasted quite a large shopping district, thriving just like Aligieri.

It was only natural, as it could be likened to a large shopping mall on Earth.

And Aligieri was like a college town.

“By the way, you’re starting to drop the honorifics now.”

“How can I not, when it’s a request from our great Saint?”

“That has nothing to do with being a saint.”

It was comfortable saying that with the two of us together.

Nebia wore a joyful expression as the promise we made yesterday was being kept.

Her white dress fluttered as her yellow straw hat bobbed around.

Unlike the swimsuit, this attire radiated confidence.

“But you should be careful from today onwards. A competitor is joining the fray.”

“Oh, today’s the day Senior Mary is coming, right?”

Why does it feel like a calamity is approaching on this day?

Whenever Mary is involved, it’s hard not to associate it with disasters.

“Why is she coming a day late, and what is she planning?”

“I hope it’s nothing serious.”

Mary’s simply sitting still counts as helping.

Though it might sound disappointing to her, it was not an empty boast for us.

Who knows what other pests may show up?

-Awooo~

-Uwooong~

At that moment, two wolves came howling and running toward us.

I wondered who it was, and it turned out to be the divine beasts; they suddenly grabbed at the hem of Nebia’s dress.

“What are you doing! Let go of this!”

“Not happening.”

Then another voice chimed in—it was Angela.

From what I could see, Angela seemed to have trained these two.

“Nebia, you shouldn’t stay too close to Radon oppa.”

“What do you care about that!”

“Come on, Nebia. Let’s go buy souvenirs for the professors~”

“Shut up! Let go of this!”

As if to say her turn was over, Angela coiled her bushy tail around Nebia.

Nebia, now wrapped like a mummy in bandages, was dragged away by Angela.

“Radon oppa~ I’ll take care of this friend, so you can prepare to meet Mary unnie without worries.”

“I don’t want to!~”

With Nebia’s wail, the two of them disappeared into the shopping district with the divine beasts.

I thought Angela only favored her sister Luska, but it seemed unexpected that she would act like that.

She appeared to be playing a mediator role rather than just favoring her sister.

I wonder just when Mary is arriving.

I was pondering this while buying some iced tea.

“Hey, miss. Could you spare some time? Okay?”

“Just a moment, please?”

While sipping the iced tea through a straw, I noticed a peculiar situation unfolding.

“Why is this girl so paranoid? We’re not doing anything, I tell you!”

“Miss, it’s obvious you look lonely without a group. How about you join us for some fun? Okay?”

A crowd of men surrounded a lone woman.

The woman, backed against the wall of the building, was completely trapped with no escape route.

From the gap, I could see her.

She wore a cool sky-blue dress with a wide-brimmed hat to shield her face from the UV rays.

With a mature appearance, a slim figure, and her tall stature, she looked to be in her twenties.

Her glamorous physique was evidence of two mountains prominently standing out on her chest.

“If you’re not busy, come play with us!”

It was obvious that a beautiful woman shouldn’t be roaming around this resort alone without a guardian.

In both this world and the other, there are those who hunt at the beach.

It’s an essential element for those who come to enjoy themselves with friends.

The obvious target is a woman walking alone, and as long as they have some morality, they wouldn’t force themselves on a lady saying she doesn’t want it.

But those guys….

“Why are you dodging our gaze! What, is it because you think we’ll do something?”

“Are you treating us like perverts? What a nasty girl.”

“If you feel guilty, then come play with us!”

Just by hearing their tone, I could judge their character.

These guys exhibited rotten behavior that even violated the basics of hunting.

It’s precisely because of such people that men who approach women get treated as potential criminals.

Do they really think they look like men when they act so tough?

‘It’s not like acting tough will make a woman fall for them anyway.’

They were truly a frustrating type with no sense of shame.

They looked ready to hit me if I didn’t obey their words, and the fact that they had fake tans on made my disgust double.

『What will you do? That face certainly looks displeased.』

『Shall we clear them out?』

Muto and Aisha whispered, sensing my feelings.

While it was indeed revolting, I didn’t feel the need to get involved there.

I didn’t want to show my face and invite trouble. There was no need to think for too long.

『Right, thinking too long wasn’t necessary.』

『They’re already coming over.』

“What?”

The woman seized the chance and slipped through the gap in the encirclement.

And coincidentally, she was running straight toward me, loudly shouting.

“Sweetheart~!”

“Huh?”

This is some absurd talk all of a sudden.

Before I realized it, the woman was hugging my arm, her bust pressing against it.

Before I could even blush, my expression contorted in an instant.

“What’s this! Let go of me!”

“Sweetheart! I’m sorry for making you wait!”

Is this woman out of her mind?

A stranger suddenly attempting to act familiar to escape a crisis.

And of all people, it had to be me that she chose, which made me furious.

But it was already too late. The blonde thugs had surrounded me completely.

“Who are you? Are you that girl’s boyfriend?”

One of the golden-haired guys asked, and I tried to answer no immediately.

But….

“Yes! He’s my boyfriend, so you all leave!”

Boyfriend, my ass! I’ve never met her before!

But the fact was that I didn’t like those punks, so I decided to go along with the act for now.

I would lecture them after chasing the thugs away.

“Ha…. Do we look that laughable to you?”

“Do you know who we are? You’re messing with the wrong crowd!”

But the thugs suddenly pulled out staffs and began casting fire magic.

Despite having just declared I had a boyfriend, they brazenly attacked—it was enough to make one gasp in disbelief.

I couldn’t hold back my tears of frustration.

“You picked the wrong person to mess with. You bastards…. Huh?”

The position of one of the punks casting magic suddenly swapped with mine.

I used a Trans Card to switch places with him, and that guy ended up taking the brunt of his friends’ fire magic.

“Uaaagh!!”

“What’s going on?”

“Are you okay?”

“You bastard!”

The thugs were bewildered as they realized they had attacked one of their own.

Focusing their fury on us, they began firing fireballs again, but this time I swapped places with another punk.

“Ugh!”

“Why did our places change!”

The thugs felt something strange as they saw me teleporting around.

This time, they began concentrating their mana to create a massive fireball.

But it was faster for me to summon ‘bugs’ as a prerequisite.

“What the hell is this!”

“Uaaagh! My flesh!!”

“My, my body!!”

The swarm of bugs erupted from my hands, paralyzing the punks completely.

The spell was canceled, and the giant fireball dissipated into nothing.

They seemed to be part of some magical faction, but they showed not an ounce of dignity.

“Bro! I can’t move my body…!”

“Let’s get out of here!”

“You’ll pay for this!”

The thugs began sluggishly getting up to escape.

I didn’t feel the need to pursue the fleeing thugs.

But I narrowed my eyes toward the woman who had dragged me into this situation.

“Thank you so much! I was almost in big trouble.”

The woman expressed her gratitude for my help, but I wasn’t feeling great.

“Excuse me. With so many people around, why did you pick me? Did you randomly guess like a test question or something?”

“But you’re the only one who could help me.”

I glanced around to see if it was true.

There weren’t any guards in sight, just as she said.

It truly was a situation where pretending to be lovers was our only means of escape.

Because of that, I could vaguely understand her impulsive behavior.

“Hey, young lady. Is this your first time here?”

“Yes.”

The old man who sold iced tea approached us and asked.

As I answered, he followed up with a worried expression.

“This is bad. You’ve definitely caught Erte’s eye.”

“Erte? Those thugs just now?”

“Erte Daniel. He’s the leader of that bunch. Ever since they arrived, many have been reported missing.”

“Isn’t there a guard here?”

“Of course, there is. But…”

Oddly enough, the guards never touch Erte’s gang, he said.

It was clear those guys were involved in something sinister, yet no one questioned them.

“So it’s best to avoid getting mixed up with those guys. Let’s enjoy ourselves quietly and go back.”

I wondered what kind of person he was—he didn’t seem to be the typical scoundrel.

Just from listening to him explain, it was clear they weren’t just ordinary thugs.

“Oh, do make sure to catch the fireworks festival in two days. This town’s festival is quite a treat.”

With that final piece of advice, he returned to his job.

After the old man’s friendly explanation ended, we also returned to square one.

“I thought this was just a regular resort, but it surprisingly has some dark sides.”

“….”

“But I’m glad you’re here with me!”

Suddenly, the woman hugged me tightly.

Once again, her impressive bust stimulated me, but I raised my patience to the max and escaped that temptation.

“I’m not your friend! Why would you even consider me a friend!”

She was out of her mind.

As I shook her off, she continued to beam at me, saying:

“Come on, friend. What’s with the sudden change? Don’t you recognize me?”

“Who on Earth are you to keep acting like we know each other?”

She puffed her cheeks like a child.

I couldn’t tell if she was really in her twenties based on her antics.

“It’s me, Mary.”

“Yeah, Mary…. Huh?”

I suddenly felt like I had been hit on the back of the head.

Did I hear wrong?

“Who did you say?”

As she lifted the wide-brimmed hat shielding her face, I could see her features clearly.

Her mature body remained intact, but somehow the familiar parts stood out.

With pink hair reminiscent of Spring’s Blossom Forest and a childlike smile.

“Friend, it’s me.”

Even the way she referred to me as a friend matched.

And most crucially….

“Yum yum yum…. How about it? Am I cool or what!”

Just then, a bug I had summoned flew up to her face, and she casually snagged it and ate it.

The sight of her munching on the bug like a snack made me absolutely certain.

“What the hell….”

Cursing slipped out of my mouth involuntarily.

Surviving as an Academy Scammer.
