Temporal Pearls

Chapter 309: Surrounded

Seth's pale gaunt face was about to have its lips curled into a smile but he stopped himself, he must maintain a serene emotion, nothing should be excessive.

He knew just recently he have almost be swallowed by Red Power and now he suffered evil agony, he was aware that there must be something wrong with his way of thinking and if he allowed his emotion to go out of control then he will devolved too deep into abyss which he didn't know if he can escape.

'I should defend myself, along the way I must deliver them to their death in various unique ways. Then I will bring back Little Cub and Gawee Cart to continue back to Living Root.'

Seth thought, finding nothing wrong with the way he thinks.

'Yes, I most returned and logged out fast. In the real world I will heal faster!' Seth nodded. Believing his plan was a work of genius.

"Seth Enoch, you have been found guilty of conspiracy against your fellow humans which led to 34 players to die in real life and also caused many more to be in constant misery!" Vice Captain Blue announced.

"Lay down your arms, transfer your items to us. We shall exert justice on you. If found non guilty we will spare you!" Captain Navy Blue added.

Seth was a rational boy, he knew definitely something should be wrong with his mind due to what he had been through but even he couldn't grasp what these idiots were saying.

Smiles almost escape his expressionless face as he tries to ask.

"I did not understand!"

He was genuinely curious, was his hearing messing with him or did they just accuse him of something with zero evidence and also even if he was found not guilty they will only show mercy.

Shouldn't he be apologized upon and left alone.

No one answered him as the Vice Captain added, "You have refused to cooperate, we must take action!" And he attacked

Seth tilted his head, "I think I became dumber!"

Seth has indeed become dumber or part of his mind was unable to understand that people will just hide behind some lies or unconfirmed event to take action to appear pious.

It's like a gangster coming to you and saying why did you look at me. Am I your mate and they began to beat you up just for that small offense.

The Blue Army target was floating above ground by a few inches, his green hooded cloak was flapping in the wind. His face pale and his eyes have swelled up and looking at them in confusion.

Vice Captain Blue who was known as Shema, a 29 old veteran soldier in real world, dashed toward Seth at very high speed, immediately, when he was too close, a sword appeared on his hand and slashed at their prey's head.

'They want to kill me!' Seth concluded. He was indeed slow in intake.

Suddenly, Shema came to a sudden halt, his face grimaced in pain as he looked down. Sharp thin red strings have pierced him through the small joint location of his blue armour.

'Okay, now I have to kill the others differently, right?'

Seth pondered slowly, his right hand folded and his left hand caressing his smooth chin in thoughtful expression.

Shema grimaced, the pain in Gawee Land has always been real unlike in other land where one can adjust it.

His body blurred as he was back to the time he hadn't attacked yet.

Even with their Time Director item, it took him three seconds to reorient himself but failed to remember what had transpired.

'Can you remember?"' A voice entered his head but Shema shook his head. The voice then recounted what had happened to him.

One of the functions of the Time Director was to allow a Temporal Warrior to use his powers without affecting the perception of his subordinates but there were some battles or abilities that could disrupt that.

Time Director was the item stolen by a resident of Silent Veil and Seth has to intervene to solve the problem.

Seth stood there oblivious about what happened and he stared at them. From behind him, he felt a pressure coming, then Shema also attacked again in the same manner.

This time Shema was ready and focused and when the sharp strings attacked, he maneuvered around them with incredible agility and flexibility, until he reached Seth.

The shadow behind with oppressing pressure also was very close, he too was careful but he wasn't attacked like Shema.

The prevalent strategy of the Temporal Warrior team was after rewind, the attack will remain the same but with added elements.

Their prey will act the same like before and their added elements will be the main force.

And if the prey detected the added elements and tried to stop both attacks then he would be prone to making large mistakes that would give an opening.

In a moment, both the shadow and Shema were ensnared by durable strings and it tightened them all. Seth looked back and he saw a big dragon with iron scales.

The armor on Shema and the scales on the dragon were the one that prevented them from being shredded by the strings.

Captain Navy frowned, even with his special eyes he couldn't see the source of the strings.

They just appeared and vanished. This matches the intel he got.

A man beside him in an invisible hood asked, "Rewind?"

The captain shook his head. He was confident that the strings won't shatter the scales and the armour.

He then raised his hand, another navy blue soldier, standing on a floating device activated his device and pointed its head toward Seth.

Around Shema, a force made of iron blue pulsed and it began to push the strings away to free him.

The iron scales on the dragon shook and they seemed to be leaving its body, while the main body blurred and squeezed away from the tight strings and the scales later followed him.

As the two escaped, a beam of energy descended, Seth gazed toward it confused. He didn't realize there was someone above but now.

Booom!

Blast of energy rammed at him and wind hurled around, the soldier at the distant surrounding stood firm or risked being blown away.

Captain Navy with his special eyes tried to see beneath the smoke but found a section of it wasn't harmed and there was no one within. At that moment he saw eyes only, floating, opened and they locked in him.

"Invisibility?" He asked, the Temporal Warrior beside him shook his head and said, "I'm not sure!"

A moment later the captain saw the strings unweaving itself from the encasement of their prey.

Their weave was intricately made to be a sphere around Seth making sure that he was perfectly protected from different forms of attack such as sound, energy and even wind.

In other words Seth was unharmed.

But as the strings weave unweaven, they disappear again but they know they were there and Seth floated there looking around.

"The strings have a life of their own. He is not the one controlling them." The hooded invisible cloak man informed the captain.

"Figured out how effective the Temporal Manipulation was on him. I was thinking of freezing him and teleporting inside" Captain Navy Blue inquired.

The hooded figure thought for a moment before he answered, "I used my strongest skill but he was not affected by much. I expected it to be the red book but it wasn't that alone. He himself has something that interferes. But the problem was we still didn't know everything about him. Did he have a weapon to truly kill us and is he willing to kill? All these have to be considered!"

Captain Navy Blue sighed, this type of strategy was never his forte. He was a veteran soldier that knew about power force and careful strategy.

But unlike normal strategy, this one they have to expend resources to probe and learn what skill their prey has and manuever around it to kill or capture them.

It was never an easy hunt but careful grinding of the unknown.

The captain was having those thoughts after he already gave a command. The iron scale dragon spread its wings wide and flew high above before it dived down and released an attack.

Dragon Roar!

A booming sonic attack that contained more than physical damage came toward Seth.

The now slow intake cripple was able to react in time but he didn't defend himself but ordered the strings not to.

Bamm!

Pressure slammed at him, though his shifted armour activated which mitigated some of the physical attacks but the intent, desire and other effects slammed at him full power.

The next moment, his eyes began to bleed and he went limp but still floating.

The iron scales dragon went ahead to attack trying to see if the strings were inactive but he saw them moving and he changed course and flew away.

The captain thought this was an opportunity to test the limit of the strings without Seth control and he ordered the Vice Captain to attack more.
