Chapter 18: Chapter 18: The Heavenly Profound Realm
Within the second level of the Star Sovereign Tower, Mo Yang sat in silent meditation. He had been regulating his breathing for several hours. Then, he consumed a pre-prepared Essence Gathering Pill.
With a thought, the golden energy in his dantian surged forth, coursing rapidly through his meridians under the guidance of the Star Sovereign Technique. The energy, now externalized, flowed across his body like golden dragons, creating dynamic ripples within the tower. The surrounding heaven and earth energy was continuously drawn into his body.
Before long, a wave of energy burst forth from Mo Yang, accompanied by a powerful ripple of cultivation energy radiating in all directions.
The Heavenly Profound Realm opened, the nine stages began to turn, and the barrier of cultivation had been shattered.
His body trembled violently. His dantian expanded more than twice its original size in an instant, and the turbulent golden energy reversed course, surging back through his meridians before converging and rushing toward a specific pathway.
The Heavenly Profound Realm consists of nine stages. With each breakthrough, one must open a profound vein within the body. Now that Mo Yang had ascended to the first stage of the Heavenly Profound Realm, his next goal was to open his first profound vein.
The Fourth Elder, before his passing, had extensively taught Mo Yang about cultivation. Normally, one would open a single profound vein with each breakthrough. However, it was said that highly gifted prodigies could open two or even more profound veins simultaneously—an achievement that greatly enhanced their combat potential.
"The dantian itself is the largest profound vein in the body. If I treat it as the first profound vein and open it anew, will that result in something different?" Mo Yang pondered.
As he thought this, he redirected his energy back toward his dantian. Under the relentless urging of the Star Sovereign Technique, the violent energy was compressed and forced into his dantian.
"Ahhh!"
A scream escaped Mo Yang's lips as his dantian fractured under the immense pressure, nearly collapsing entirely.
Blood surged to his throat, spilling from the corner of his mouth in a bright red streak.
The intense pain was unlike anything Mo Yang had ever experienced—it felt as if his muscles were being torn apart, his bones shattered, and his entire body sliced by thousands of blades. His consciousness wavered, teetering on the edge of unconsciousness.
What Mo Yang hadn't realized was the severity of what he had just attempted. No one had ever tried to treat the dantian itself as a profound vein to be opened. According to the conventional rules of the Heavenly Profound Realm, such an approach was unheard of.
The violent energy within his body had spiraled out of control, completely ignoring his will. The damaged dantian was on the verge of collapsing entirely under the onslaught of energy.
"Boom..."
Suddenly, Mo Yang felt the entire stone tower tremble. The walls around him began to glow, emitting radiant streaks of light that converged toward him.
Faintly, Mo Yang seemed to hear the melody of the Dao, an ethereal hymn that echoed like sacred chants.
Although his eyes were tightly shut and his expression contorted with pain, Mo Yang failed to notice the transformation occurring around him. Ancient inscriptions began to surface on the tower's walls, pulsating with majestic waves of energy. These inscriptions emitted powerful soundwaves that reverberated through the space.
Unexpectedly, the Star Sovereign Technique within his body began to activate on its own, resonating with the stone tower. The ruptured dantian, which had been on the brink of destruction, stabilized under the mysterious forces at play. Slowly, it began to regenerate and reshape itself.
Mo Yang gritted his teeth and endured the ordeal for as long as he could. Eventually, exhaustion overtook him, and he fainted into unconsciousness.
Mo Yang didn't know how much time had passed before he finally regained consciousness. His entire body ached as if every inch of his skin had been sliced open.
Opening his eyes, he found the stone tower had returned to its usual calm. He quickly focused his senses on his dantian and was astonished to find it not only intact but also larger than before. However, due to the earlier loss of control over his energy, his meridians had sustained some damage.
Fortunately, Mo Yang wasn't overly concerned about the damage to his meridians. The Restorative Pill he had previously refined was specifically meant for healing injuries.
"That was close... I almost made a huge mistake!"
Recalling the events that had just transpired, Mo Yang couldn't help but feel a lingering sense of fear. Before fainting, he had vaguely sensed the intense activity within the stone tower—a mysterious connection seemed to have formed between him and the tower, accompanied by the reverberating melody of the Dao.
"It seems this Star Sovereign Tower is far more mysterious than I ever imagined..."
With no time to dwell on the matter, Mo Yang began meditating to heal his injuries. His body was still in considerable pain, and recovery was his immediate priority.
Two days passed within the stone tower.
During this time, Mo Yang consumed three Restorative Pills. By the end of the second day, his meridians were 70–80% healed, allowing him to finally conclude his meditation.
With his breakthrough complete, Mo Yang felt an unprecedented surge of power coursing through him. The Heavenly Profound Realm was unlike any realm he had experienced before. To test his strength, he channeled his energy and pointed a finger forward, unleashing a streak of sword energy that shot out like lightning. The energy pierced through a stone bench in his courtyard, leaving a clean hole.
"Incredible..." Mo Yang murmured. "Life truly is unexpected. Barely two months ago, I could only dream of reaching the Heavenly Profound Realm. And now, it's within my grasp."
He couldn't help but sigh. Two months ago, he wouldn't have dared to imagine achieving such a milestone in cultivation.
Meanwhile, Mo Yang was unaware of the commotion his recent activities had caused.
Su Feier's overnight breakthrough—from the peak of the second stage to the peak of the third stage of the Tongling Realm—was an event that defied all logic.
Such a sudden leap in cultivation was impossible to hide. Word quickly spread, and rumors emerged linking her breakthrough to a mysterious pill from Mo Yang.
As the story spread, disciples from across the sect began flocking to Wood Peak, especially those who had been stuck on the brink of a breakthrough. They hoped to obtain the same mystical pill that could help them advance in cultivation.
However, Mo Yang was nowhere to be found. None of the sect members had seen him since the incident.
The elders, on the other hand, were left utterly baffled.
After repeated questioning by the Supreme Elder and the Sect Master, Su Feier finally admitted that Mo Yang knew how to refine pills. She explained that the materials she had previously taken from the treasury were meant for him.
For the elders, this revelation was akin to a thunderclap.
Their disbelief only grew as they mulled over the implications. Mo Yang had grown up practically under their noses on Wood Peak, mentored by the Fourth Elder. Yet there had been no indication that he possessed alchemical skills.
Even the Fourth Elder himself had no knowledge of alchemy. Where, then, had Mo Yang learned such an advanced craft?
One by one, the elders furrowed their brows in deep thought. The Supreme Elder, in particular, had been keeping a close eye on Mo Yang ever since the young man's cultivation had begun advancing at an unprecedented pace.
"This boy is clearly hiding some incredible secrets," the Supreme Elder muttered under his breath. Ever since Mo Yang had revealed his cultivation progress, it had shattered the elder's understanding of what was possible.
"No wonder he's always in need of materials. To think he knows alchemy... what a treasure he is..."
The Supreme Elder's expression darkened as his thoughts deepened. With a hint of frustration, he muttered, "So many secrets… and yet, he still refuses to open up. What an aggravating boy!"
The situation surrounding Mo Yang and Su Feier had become the Supreme Elder's greatest source of curiosity—and a growing enigma. Mo Yang's refusal to follow conventional logic only added to the mystery.
