The Beast Tamer Is A Slime

Chapter 22: “Smuggling Out Of The Dungeon”

The speaker may not have any intention, but the listener took it seriously.

Charlie, who heard what John said to Neo, suddenly got enlightenment.

Ah! Could it be that this slime is the one eating those missing slime corpses??

Charlie, who was frightened for a long time because of this missing slime corpse incident, almost wanted to use up all his courage to punch the little slime.

Boss! Ancestor! So the thief was you!

Neo quickly told John about this, and John also looked at Neo as if he was a naughty child.

[Let's take a few slime corpses from my share and secretly stuff it into the other hunters' containers.]

John put on a poker face as he generously tried to compensate for what Neo had stolen from other slimes, but deep inside, his heart was bleeding.

One slime corpse was worth an ordinary person's monthly minimum wage!

Now, he had to give up at least four slimes...

John felt like spurting out blood from his mouth, but he immediately tried to calm down his rising blood pressure.

[Anyway, little ancestor, don't casually steal someone else's spoils. It can be a huge problem.]

John tried to "educate" the "ignorant" slime, which immediately made Neo feel guilty.

Cough. It's not that he knows it will be a big problem, okay?

[Okay, okay! I won't steal anyone's spoils in the future! I stole those slime corpses before to restore my broken body without using a skill.]

Neo tried to defend himself but eventually gave in under John's accusing gaze and Charlie's begging eyes.

Hum. Okay. He would be a law-abiding slime from now on.

After making a fuss, Charlie quickly stuffed back the missing pieces of slime, and just right after he did that, the hunters started to check their spoils and belongings.

Even if they let the porter of the team clean up the spoils for them, they still had a clear count of their spoils.

Lina, Remy and Daniel even made some unique scratch marks on the slime corpse's skin, so that people wouldn't steal their spoils openly.

Thank God John also made similar marks for the replacement slime corpses.

Tom also checked his spoils and was satisfied with his gains.

With this, his family might allow him to go back to World District 8.

After the hunters thoroughly checked their belongings and made sure that there weren't a lot of surviving slimes left in the cave, they started to go back to where they came.

Before the hunters left, Neo had long crawled into Charlie's container and stayed quietly inside, cosplaying as a dead slime.

The other hunters didn't see the palm-sized slime who was hanging around John, and they couldn't help but say a few words—

Especially Daniel.

"Ah, the little slime is gone. Maybe it hides somewhere..."

Daniel sighed as he tried to find the little slime but to no avail.

His face was full of disappointment, and people could see how much he "cherished" the little slime.

Daniel simply wished he could lure out the little slime and took it home— for research.

"Okay, okay, just let it go. Maybe it wants to stay here rather than following us."

Lina carefully comforted Daniel, but deep down, she started to suspect the little slime.

There were no other mutated slimes inside the cave, which means the little slime had no "parents".

Then, where did the slime come from?

Would it be good to let it go?

Many mutated beasts inside the dungeons would help other beasts to become stronger in a short time, leading to the dungeon being "overloaded", leading to [Dungeon Break].

Seeing that Lina was about to become more and more suspicious of Neo, John hurriedly interrupted her thoughts.

"Leader, let's leave now. We have been here for almost twelve hours. Everyone is tired."

John pointed at Tom's ugly face as the troublemaker endured the sticky feeling from the slime's liquid splashing on his [Anti-corrosive Raincoat] and other specially-made clothes.

Seeing that her other teammates were also eager to leave this dark and damp place, Lina put aside her thoughts and immediately led everyone to go back to where they came.

As usual, Charlie was still left at the back, but no other surviving slimes tried to attack them, so they went out of the narrow cave smoothly.

The moment the six people arrived at the wide area near the dungeon entrance, they all sighed in relief.

Finally, there was a little bit of light here, and the space was not as narrow as before!

Neo saw nothing because he was hiding inside the special container stuffed into Charlie's backpack, but he could feel that the hunters started to line up to leave the dungeon.

If he could see the current scene, he would see a strange black-blue spiral portal the size of an adult,  embedded in the cave's wall not far from this wide space.

That's the [Dungeon Portal] or what many people called [The Gate].

One by one, the hunters entered [The Gate], and their bodies disappeared into the mysterious swirling portal.

Charlie was the last to step into [The Gate], and the moment Charlie's body passed through [The Gate], even Neo, who was inside his backpack, could feel something different.

It was if he had just passed through a strange space membrane and the whole body became lighter.

The moment Neo came out, the long-lost sunlight and blue sky immediately greeted the little slime.

Neo, who should dislike a direct sunlight because of his racial characteristic, actually enjoyed this change from dark to light.

Ah! He could smell the air of freedom!

Neo was enjoying his successful escape from the dungeon when out of the blue, Charlie and John's voices sounded in Neo's mind with a strong sense of urgency.

[N-not good! There is a security line!]

[Fck! Why are we so unlucky? There shouldn't be any inspections here!]
