The Beastmaster System: God Pet begs me to evolve

Chapter 32: Hatching

The next morning.

The materials were prepared and placed in a secret chamber, where Kent was respectfully invited to enter.

Kent took out the white limestone and the wyvern's egg. After a brief moment of hesitation, he decided to tackle the more difficult task first, thinking it would bring him relief to complete it.

"System, the materials are all here. Please help me evolve the egg."

Instantly, Kent felt a wave of weakness wash over him as a pound of vital blood was drawn from his body, causing his face to turn pale.

Vital blood is different from ordinary blood; it is the fresh blood directly flowing from the heart, a small amount, and it almost made Kent feel like he had a heart attack.

Fortunately, his physique was strong enough to stabilize himself.

The other materials on the table, along with the blood, fell onto the egg.

With a swoosh, they transformed into a cocoon, surrounding the egg entirely.

Kent stared at it carefully but noticed no movement, and he began to worry that something had gone wrong.

However, after about three minutes, the egg began to tremble. The cocoon started to fade in color and became thinner, as if something inside was being drawn to the external nutrients, revitalizing the egg, which began to absorb them rapidly.

Gradually, the cocoon became transparent, eventually turning into a light veil, possibly to filter out impurities that couldn't be absorbed.

The egg, which had been wrinkled and withered, was now full and vibrant, brimming with life. It continued to tremble, as if something inside was eager to break free.

Kent was reassured by this sight, realizing that the system was indeed trustworthy. As long as it was within its capabilities, it always followed through.

However, Kent couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Every time the system helped him, it consumed some of his vital blood, whether from Garfield or himself.

The previous times when Garfield's vital blood had been used did not seem to contribute to the evolution of the beasts in the task, suggesting that the system had kept it for itself.

But this time, his own blood had been absorbed by the egg for its evolution. That felt a bit awkward, as if the egg hadn't received much in return—how embarrassing for it.

As if sensing Kent's confusion, the system appeared just in time.

Ding!

Notice: The system absorbed one pound of vital blood from the host. Half was kept as compensation, and the other half was used for the egg's hatching.

Kent sighed in disbelief, "Ah~~~" No wonder the blood on the shell didn't seem to be that much.

But why did it need his blood? Was there something special about it?

Just then, the egg began to roll. Clearly, the life force inside had strengthened, and it no longer wanted to stay inside, as if it was determined to break free.

Kent waited for about ten minutes. Just as he thought the hatching had failed, he heard the distinct cracking sound of the egg.

Cracks spread across the shell like a spider's web, growing larger.

Finally, a pale white mouth appeared, followed by the rest of the body. It was about the size of a small dog, with skin that was white tinged with pink. It had a pair of fiery red wings, and its two hind legs stood on the ground while its small front legs waved energetically.

As soon as the little creature emerged, it opened its eyes, surveyed the room, and then staggered over to Kent, nuzzling his stomach affectionately.

Kent opened his mouth in surprise. It seemed like this little thing thought he was its mother.

Well, that made sense. The first thing it saw after opening its eyes was him, and it had absorbed his vital blood, so there was likely some "bloodline connection."

Fortunately, the newly hatched wyvern was very hungry, and after a short while, it returned to the egg and devoured it greedily.

Kent ignored it, focusing his attention on the white limestone, which was the size of his head. He placed it in a large metallic container filled with various fruit juices.

The limestone sank into the juice without a sound, as though it were just a regular stone.

Then, just as Kent was wondering what was going on, he staggered, nearly falling to the ground. He felt another half pound of vital blood drain from his body, and his face turned as pale as paper.

"Damn, I thought it didn't need any more vital blood!"

Kent felt the urge to curse, his body weakening and his discomfort growing. He made a mental note to be more cautious.

A burst of blood fell into the juice, turning it bright red. However, it quickly mixed with the other colorful juices.

Kent noticed the liquid level was slowly dropping. At this rate, it would probably take two to three hours to complete.

He didn't want to wait around any longer. His body urgently needed nutrients, and he was craving a hearty meal.

He immediately opened the door and asked Xiao Wei to summon Elder Jia, telling him that the task was complete.

Xiao Wei was startled. The task that had been impossible for nearly a year had been completed in less than half an hour. This was unbelievable.

However, she soon noticed Kent's condition. He was swaying, his voice weak and frail, and she hurriedly left without delay.

A few minutes later, Elder Jia rushed in and immediately noticed the newly hatched wyvern, which was licking its front paws in an adorable, satisfied manner.

"Wow~ It really hatched!" Elder Jia exclaimed, then quickly added, "I'll notify the task issuer right away."

Then, he glanced at Kent and immediately realized something was off with his condition. "Mr. Eight God, you don't seem to be feeling well?" He had changed his form of address.

Kent nodded weakly. "I've consumed a lot of energy this time. Please, Elder Jia, prepare some blood-replenishing food for me."

Elder Jia nodded and quickly made a call. "A Fei, tell Chef Li to prepare some blood-replenishing food, and make sure it's fast. Once it's done, send it to the restaurant. I'm hosting an important guest."

"Mr. Eight God, please wait a moment. Shall we sit outside on the sofa while we wait?" Elder Jia suggested.

Kent glanced at the massive metal container, seeing that progress was slow, and agreed.

The secret chamber was closed again.

Kent, weakened, collapsed onto the sofa, not wanting to waste another ounce of energy. Elder Jia, sensing this, didn't disturb him.

Soon, Ye Yan arrived in a hurry, apparently eager to see the excitement. He tried to speak with Kent but was stopped by Elder Jia.

About twenty minutes later, the food arrived at the restaurant. Kent forced himself to eat, and immediately felt his energy improve. His whole body warmed up, and he felt a tingling in his bones. Was this... blood production?

After eating, Xiao Wei quickly brought a basin of water and a towel, offering impeccable service.

"Haha... Elder Jia, I'm here! Let me see my little wyvern!" A hearty laugh echoed through the room, and a muscular middle-aged man wearing a mask depicting crossed swords strode in.

Elder Jia immediately greeted him, saying, "Dao Jian, you've really gotten lucky this time. If it weren't for Mr. Eight God from our Black Market, your wyvern would probably still be stuck here for another ten years without hatching."

The man named Dao Jian looked over and saw Kent sitting at the table, wiping his hands. He furrowed his brow, apparently displeased that someone of high status was being ignored.

However, seeing how Elder Jia and Ye Yan treated Kent with respect, he quickly suppressed his annoyance and spoke up, "I see. In that case, I really have to thank Mr. Eight God."
