Chapter 36: After Effects
POV Six
I sighed as I went through the transfer papers that were submitted. While all the other years didn't have any that wanted to transfer out, the first years had a few. Thirty-four in total. That's all that wanted to transfer out.
I sighed again as I looked at the only paper that came from the Hero course. I had hoped he was doing better than this, but it seems I was sorely mistaken.
.
"Damn it, Mineta. Why couldn't you do this before the announcement? It would have saved us some embarrassment," I grumbled as I saw that his transfer papers stated several different Hero Schools, one of which was an all-girls school.
.
I sighed again, this pervert was gonna get killed one of these days. But that wasn't my problem. My problem now was contacting the schools to see if they were willing to accept the transfer. After several calls, most of which were declined since it was from UA, and one went through. But, as soon as I said what I was calling for, I was laughed at and hung up on.
This was going to be one long day.
.
"All right, you brats," I called out as they gathered in Gym Gamma for their daily training. "Tomorrow is the day. If you pass, you can get your provisional licenses. "If not, well, be glad there are makeup exams." I could see the determination on their faces.
.
I sighed and sent them on their way to train. As I watched them go at it with all their vigor, I made a note of who was doing what.
Several were in groups practicing their hand-to-hand combat.
Momo was flying through different katas for different martial arts while producing different things using her quirk.
Mina Ashido was fine-tuning her super move, Acid Armor.
Kyoka Jiro was doing her best to move in her new hero outfit, getting used to the added weight.
Rikido Sato was working on his physical strength and the duration of his quirk.
Hanta Sero was Swinging between standing pillars while working on his quirk.
.
"Excuse me, Six sensei?" I turned around to find Izuku there fidgeting.
"What's up?" I asked as I turned towards him.
"C-can we talk?" He stuttered, "In private, please?"
"Sure, follow me," I said as I walked towards the gym's corner.
.
Once we were in the corner of the gym, I turned to Izuku.
.
"Okay, out with it," I spoke lightly, already having an idea of what he wanted to say.
"It's about being my dad..." Izuku spoke then clamored up.
"I'm not going to give you any special treatment if that's what you're asking," I sighed and said.
"No, i-it's not that," Izuku said quickly and stuttered. "I'm just curious, did you ever love my mom? Or Ka-chan's mother?"
"I'm not sure," I sighed and told him, "My memories are still foggy at best, not even there at worst. And those that are there seem like I'm viewing them as a spectator. So it's like I'm missing something."
"I-i see," Izuku stuttered, seemingly sad at my answer.
"But," I said as I rested a hand on his head, "If the way your mothers acted were any sort of indicator, I loved them just as much as they love you."
"Thanks," He muttered with a smile on his face.
"Now, come on," I urged him, "You got some time left before it's time for your curfew. Let's get you to be the best you can be."
.
After our talk, he seemed to be in high spirits. Once he was off, I couldn't help but remember all the times I adopted children and gave them a pep talk. I was crude but they all knew that I cared for them.
Then a memory surfaced. One of my romances. A woman named Willow and I were trying to have kids, but nothing worked. I even went to Big MT to see if she or I were sterile. Both she and I were able to have kids, but for some reason nothing and I mean nothing worked. We even tried artificial insemination and cloning from both our genes.
That's when the pieces were starting to come together. The reason I couldn't have kids in the Mojave and how I had kids in this universe were connected. But the question was how and why.
I sighed, things were starting to add up, but I didn't have the time to figure it out. As I got back to watching the kids train and helping here and there, I didn't realize that me and Izuku were overheard by two students. One invisible and the other with headphones.
.
At the Student Dorms
.
Once it was close to curfew, Class 1-A headed back to their dorms. Izuku and Katsuki held back so that Izku could tell Katsuki about what he talked to Six about. When Katsuki heard what Six said, he scoffed and pretended to not care but deep down he was happy. As they talked, Jiro approached them.
.
"Hey, Midyoria," Jiro spoke up, grabbing his attention, "Is Six-sensei really your father?"
.
When she said that, all conversations stopped. As the entire class looked towards the three of them.
.
"I wanted to ask that myself!" Toru shouted and waved her arms.
"Is that true, Dekiru?"
"Wait, really?"
"No way!"
"That's terrifying!"
.
As the class asked and demanded, Izuku was overwhelmed. Katsuki, knowing that he'd be thrown under the bus when Izuku couldn't take it anymore, shouted.
.
"Yeah, he is!" Katsuki shouted at the class. "Got a problem with my half-brother?"
"Half-Brother?!" The class shouted, and that was when Aizawa came in.
"Quit your shouting." He ordered the class. "I could hear you from outside."
"But Sensei, they're related to Six-sensei!" Mina shouted, "How did we not know?"
"They only found out about it during the Home Visitation," Aizawa explained.
"Explain, please!" Mina exclaimed, hoping for some gossip.
.
Izuku and Katsuki looked at each other in a silent conversation. After a brief moment, Izuku spilled what they knew. About how Six and their mothers' met, about how he knew them up into College, but they kept his name out of their mouths. Something told them he would not be happy about it. Questions were asked and answered.
By the time the questions ran thin, Aizawa ordered them to go to bed.
.
The Next Day
.
Six sighed as he and Aizawa rode the bus with the rest of Class 1-A. The class, usually rambunctious, was subdued as they focused on the upcoming test for their Provisional Licenses. Six couldn't blame them as the HPSC was busy running around after UA's announcement and were doing their best to push all their failures on the UA. But he knew that they wouldn't be deterred.
If anything, it empowered them. It showed them that the world wasn't black and white, but grey.
As the bus arrived at the location for the test, everyone took a deep breath and let it go. Well, except for a few.
Once the doors of the bus were opened, the students filed out. Each one brimming with confidence and experience.
As Six stepped off the bus, he could feel the glares and sense the stares that were directed at them. He sighed and continued to walk and ignored the stares and glares. When he and Aizawa got to the secretary who was in charge of seeing who was attending, she glared and Six could tell that she wanted to tell us to get lost. But they were professional enough to let us through.
Aizawa and I gave the students a quick word to get their heads in the game and left them to head off into the exam stadium. As we headed into the stands, we met several different heroes. Some of which wanted to mouth off to us, but Six just flashed his revolver. It shut them up right quick.
Aizawa sighed at Six's antics but understood the need for some brute force. Or in this case, some not-so-subtle threats. As they got to their seats in the stands, the exam was just starting.
.
"How well do you think they'll do?" Aizawa asked Six.
"Unless they royally mess it up, they should pass," Six answered
"I wouldn't count on them passing," A voice spoke up as the exam started.
"Ms. Joke," Aizawa said as he and Six turned to face the speaker.
.
A young woman of a strong athletic build with noticeably muscular arms appeared. She has sea-green hair that reaches just past her shoulders, and a short fringe with splayed ends which is obscured by her bandanna. She has dark green eyes with bright pupils.
Six just scanned her over once before turning back to the exam.
.
"There's been talks about removing UA's teaching permits and their ability to raise up future heroes," Ms. Joke, her usual boisterous personality, gone.
"Is that so?" Six asked, unconcerned.
"Hmm," Aizawa agreed.
"Ha, men," She grumbled and sat down next to Aizawa.
