Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Akane Knows No Mercy
Akane flew through the infernal skies with swift precision, her black wings cutting through the air like blades. The fiery abyss below reflected off her crimson armor, which seemed to shimmer with a life of its own as it wrapped around her, piece by piece. The power coursing through her veins was intoxicating, a reminder of her devotion to Shiro Morningstar, her lord and master.
In her right hand materialized a weapon of unfathomable power—a sword capable of cutting through reality itself. Its edge glowed with a sinister, dark energy that rippled with each swing, as if the air itself feared the blade. Her eyes locked onto Bael's strongholds in the distance, towering monoliths that once stood as symbols of unshakable dominance. But now, they were nothing more than obstacles in Akane's path.
She felt the weight of her mission with every beat of her wings. Overthrow Bael's rule. Decimate his fortresses. Leave nothing standing. This was for Shiro.
As she neared the first fortress, the ground trembled at her presence. Infernal legions raised their weapons, futilely preparing to defend their land. With a single slash of her world-cutting sword, the sky itself seemed to split open, and in a blinding flash, the fortress crumbled into dust. The roar of destruction filled the air, but Akane did not pause. She moved like a storm, her crimson armor gleaming as she unleashed devastation upon everything in her path.
Akane hovered above the remains of the fortress she had just obliterated, the dust and debris still swirling in the air behind her. Below, the middle-level devil guards scrambled, eyes wide as they watched their impenetrable defenses crumble. The once-formidable stronghold now lay in ruins—no match for her overwhelming power.
A group of devils approached, their faces twisted with a mix of fear and fury. One, a tall devil clad in dark armor, stepped forward, raising his staff as he glared up at Akane. "Who dares invade the territoryof the almighty devil Bael?! State your name, intruder!– or prepare to be annihilated!"
Akane's crimson armor glowed brighter, reflecting the hellish flames of the underworld around her. Her face remained impassive, but a dark glint flickered in her eyes as she lifted her world-cutting sword.
"I don't need to explain myself to you," she replied coldly, her voice echoing through the infernal landscape. "You are merely standing in my way."
The devils exchanged wary glances before launching their attack. Spells flew toward her—fireballs, dark energy, and cursed arrows—all aimed to bring her down. But just before they struck, they collided with an invisible barrier around her, shattering into harmless sparks.
The lead devil's eyes widened in shock. "What...? What kind of magic is this?!"
Akane's lips curled into a cold smile as she raised her sword high. Energy crackled around her, the air growing thick with power. Her voice boomed across the battlefield as she shouted:
"Prepare to be decimated! Maximized Double Spell: Electro Dragon! " She casted.
The sky above her darkened, and from the storm clouds forming overhead, a massive dragon of pure electricity roared into existence.
"ROAAAAAAAAR!!!" Its glowing form pulsed with blue lightning, crackling with unbridled energy. The devils below screamed in terror as the dragon descended upon them, its enormous jaws opening wide.
With a deafening roar, the Electro Dragon tore through the ranks of the devils, devouring everything in its path. Spells and weapons alike disintegrated as they touched the creature's electrified body, and one by one, the guards were consumed by the searing energy.
Within seconds, the battlefield was silent once more, the only sound the crackle of lingering electricity in the air. The fortress, the guards, the defenses—everything was reduced to ashes.
Akane hovered above the devastation, her eyes fixed on the horizon, where more of Bael's territory awaited her wrath. Without a word, she continued her relentless march forward, knowing that nothing would stop her from fulfilling her master's will.
She lifts her sword up and is now preparing to infiltrate the capital city. "Hypercharge Unleashed!!" She shouts. Her eyes turn purple, electricity swirls around her, and her weapon gleamed in a thousand lights.
The sword glows like a nuclear warhead edging the explosion— and in the next second...
*BOOOOOOOM!!*
A dark purplish lazer-like beam erupts from the tip of her blade and travels at light speed in a linear path. The beam destroyed absolutely everything of its path till it reached the royal palace –where Lady Bael resides– exactly seven miles.
Akane preferred not destroying the palace and killing everyone on sight rapidly– she was going to take her time doing it, for her Master. And to start off, she was determined to slaughter every single civilian and guard that came her way.
Weather innocent or not, good or bad, Bael's territory was going on purge.
X―x―X—x—X―x―X
From the grand windows of her castle, Lady Bael stood tall, her piercing gaze fixed on the scene unfolding far in the distance. The sky was painted with the remnants of Akane's destruction, and the once-proud fortress that guarded the entrance to her territory was now nothing more than smoldering ruins.
Her long silver hair cascaded down her back, and her regal posture never wavered, but inside, a storm brewed. The strongest devil household, the Bael family, had ruled this region of Hell for eons, unchallenged in strength and prestige. Yet now, an intruder—one single warrior—had dared to lay siege to their land.
Her fingers tightened around the polished armrest of her throne.
'Why now? she thought, her eyes narrowing. With my husband missing after the last war, it's only natural we'd be seen as vulnerable. But an attack this soon? And from a lone soldier?' She monologued.
Lady Bael's mind raced, considering the possibilities. Her husband, once feared across the underworld, had disappeared without a trace. His absence left a power vacuum that many sought to exploit, but for a single intruder to have the audacity to attack her household, there had to be more behind it. This isn't some random act of violence. It feels... deliberate. Calculated. But why only one soldier?
She turned slightly, her voice low but commanding. "What kind of fool would dare challenge Bael's legacy with a lone warrior?"
Her chief maid, a stoic woman with dark, flowing hair, approached cautiously. "My Lady, reports suggest that the warrior bears no banners, no recognizable sigils. She's cutting through our defenses with ease, though... she doesn't seem to be from any of the major houses." She reported.
Lady Bael's eyes darkened. "No house, you say? A mercenary, perhaps? Or worse… a puppet." She turned, her crimson eyes locking onto her maid's. "Send out troups immediately. I want to know who sent her, and why she's willing to go against me with such confidence."
The maid bowed deeply. "Of course, my Lady. But... there's something strange. Our forces cannot get close to her. A barrier protects her, and every spell, every strike... it simply shatters before touching her."
Lady Bael clenched her jaw. "A barrier that nullifies attacks... This is no ordinary devil. Only a being of Satan-level power could command such defenses and launch an offensive of that magnitude. Could she be in service of someone greater?"
Another maid, younger and more timid, stepped forward hesitantly. "My Lady, there's talk among the ranks… whispers of a servant bearing a sword that cuts through worlds. They say she serves someone called Shiro Morningstar."
"Shiro Morningstar…" Lady Bael muttered under her breath. And suddenly, someone invited intruded into the chamber.
"Moom!" It shouted in fear. The commotion happening everywhere was too much for a child's sensitive ears.
Lady Bael kneels as her own kid rushes over to her. Hugging, the child starts venting, "Mom! I'm scared!" She shouts, terrified, holding onto dear mother like there's no tomorrow.
Lady Bael hugs her child, and recomforts her, "It's gonna be okay, sweetheart. Everything is okay..." She says, her tone smooth and delicate, infused with powerful energy that emitted goodwillingless and heart warmth, this made even the head maid sleep in delicacy.
"Rosa. Take Venelana somewhere safe, I entrust my daughter to you. Protect her with your life." She says, Rosa, the head maid was nonchalant.
"H–Oh— Oh my Lady! *Ahem, Of course. I'll protect mistress Venelana with my own life. I won't disappoint." She says, quickly leaving the chamber with her kid. Venelana couldn't take her eyes off her mom and was going to start crying.
As they left, a loud explosion was heard across the entire capital. A lazer-like beam was destroying everything on its path.
'Oooh dear...' Lady Bael mumbled, quickly leaving the chamber and into the military headquarters.
"Ready the defenses around the inner sanctum. And summon the remaining generals." Colonel Zarek, the figure in charge of national security ordered. His men scattering across the battlefield, evacuating the civilians and ready to cross fire with Akane, who was making her way imminently.
The devils were in position. The smoke was clearing in front of them, and from the aches, rose Akane, holding in her right hand, her almighty sword. The left hand however, was holding the decapitated body of a devil child.
Some devil guards puked at the sight of this. Some clicked their tongue, while others remained focused.
Akane was performing without her helmet now. Her eyes showed insanity, all the blood and killing had accumulated an extraordinary amount of hypercharge energy which drove her crazy, taking her on a blood frenzy regardless of age.
Her eyes showed death, her smile was uncanny. She threw the kid's body towards the devil, who oblitered it before it reached them, skeptical about it being a trap or worse, a bomb or a curse.
"You make me sick. What a disgusting fucking bitch you are..." Zarek says, disgusted. The next second, he gives green light for attack.
"Focus your attacks! Don't let her gather her power! Take her down!" Zarek shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.
The devils unleashed a torrent of spells—fireballs, ice spears, hellfire chains, and bursts of dark energy all hurtled toward Akane with deadly precision. From every angle, they assaulted her, determined to bring the lone warrior down. The ground crackled with the intensity of the magic swirling in the air, an infernal storm created by their collective power.
But Akane didn't move. She didn't even raise her sword to block. Instead, she smiled.
As the attacks collided with her, something strange happened. Instead of flinching or dodging, she absorbed the impact. Her crimson armor pulsed, and her aura grew brighter, darker, more volatile. With each spell that struck her, her energy swelled, feeding off their attacks.
Zarek's eyes widened in disbelief. "What is she doing?!"
One of his lieutenants turned to him, panic in his voice. "Colonel, our attacks—they're making her stronger!"
Akane's laughter rang through the air, dark and mocking. "You fools. Did you really think your pitiful spells could harm me? No… they're doing the opposite."
She raised her arms, her crimson aura flaring to life, the energy around her twisting and writhing as if it had a mind of its own. The air became thick with power, a wild, uncontrollable force that sent shockwaves through the battlefield.
A crimson cyclone formed on top of Bael's territory. A tornado was forming.
Her voice echoed with eerie calm, yet a hint of madness lingered beneath. "All you've done is feed the storm. Now... let me show you what true power looks like."
The devils faltered, their once-organized formation breaking as they realized what was happening. Colonel Zarek's face contorted with frustration and fear as he watched the impossible unfold before him.
"This can't be—she's going to—"
Akane's eyes gleamed with an otherworldly light as she began to chant ancient, forbidden words. The language was older than Hell itself, a language of destruction known only to a few. As she spoke, the energy around her spiraled into chaos, a vortex of power that consumed everything nearby.
"Ignite the void… let the chaos reign…"
The ground below trembled as the air around her became electrified, vibrating with unrestrained force. The devils around her tried to retreat, but it was too late. They were trapped in the eye of the storm.
"...Abyssal Cataclysm!"
With those final words, Akane unleashed a hypercharged explosion of raw energy. A blinding light engulfed the battlefield, followed by an ear-shattering roar. The power surged outward, erasing everything in its path—devils, spells, fortifications, and even the very landscape.
The explosion consumed all, leaving nothing but a vast emptiness in its wake. The ground itself had been obliterated, reduced to a charred, smoldering wasteland. Akane hovered above it all, untouched, her expression calm, almost serene. The aura around her was still crackling with berserk energy, though now subdued, as if it had just tasted destruction and was satisfied—for the moment.
Half of Bael's territory was reduced to ashes. And what comes next, is the main course.
