The Genius Scientist Who Crosses Over Twice

Chapter 16: The Power of Science

Zi——

The stinger on the right arm of Beedrill sharply pierced the back of Dragonite, releasing poison that immediately spread through the wound, causing its chubby, orange-yellow face to take on a sickly purple hue.

It was poisoned!

"This should encourage you to behave, Commander Lance~" Victor said leisurely.

"Commander Lance's Dragonite... was taken down so easily..." Little Clair could hardly believe it.

In her mind, her cousin was as invincible as a deity, yet...

And that masked guy hadn't given any commands at all.

It was all Beedrill fighting on its own!

What Little Clair didn't realize was that Victor couldn't command Beedrill either.

"Alright, time to say goodbye~ Beedrill, lend a hand, will you?"

As Victor waved to bid farewell, he also shot a glance at Beedrill, indicating it should help lift the unconscious person.

Beedrill looked at the two stingers on its arms and fell momentarily silent.

You son of a gun... do I look like I have hands?

But considering Giovanni's orders, Beedrill pierced through Anders' collar with its stinger and lifted him up.

"Do you think this is the end? You naturally wicked brat from Team Rocket!" Just as Victor was about to leave, Lance's cold question echoed again.

"Huh?"

Turning around, he saw Lance beside Dragonite, one hand resting on its large, round belly.

In an instant, the needle marks on the back and the purple hue on its face began healing at a visible rate!

This was better than any potion!

"Viridian... power?"

Victor suddenly remembered that every ten years, Viridian Forest selects a trainer from Viridian, granting them the power of nature.

Lance, Giovanni, and the currently unknown little Yellow were all such trainers!

Giovanni had never showcased his Viridian power much.

But the abilities possessed by Lance and little Yellow were both healing and psychic communication with Pokémon.

In terms of healing, little Yellow excelled even more, renowned as the "Healer"!

"Speaking of which, there are many people in this world with special abilities," Victor recalled.

In Sinnoh, there are those who can communicate with legendary Pokémon thanks to the power of the Ultra Beast.

In Kanto, Sabrina and in Unova, Gardevoir have psychic abilities.

Yet, these two had different applications.

Sabrina was magic-oriented, able to turn people into dolls, while Gardevoir was more forceful, directly using psychic powers to attack.

By the way, would the Super rookie count as a special ability?

"But even if he recovers, it's of no use, is it? Beedrill's level is higher than yours, Commander Lance." Victor calmly remarked.

"Don't call my Dragonite 'fat'!" Lance exclaimed, exasperated.

You can insult me, but you can't insult my dragon!

The next moment, the anger on Lance's face turned into a cold smile.

"Well then, allow me to show you my Twin Dragon Tactics."

In regular, rule-bound battles, Lance was indeed slightly less than the current Champion Agatha of the Indigo League.

But when it came to a life-and-death battle without rules, that was another story.

Lance was most adept at life-and-death battles against scoundrels like Team Rocket.

He could attack trainers directly and send out multiple Pokémon to utilize various bizarre tactics.

Among them, using Dragonite as the main attacker and two Dragonair as support, the "Twin Dragon Tactics" was his signature strategy!

"Beep—"

Yet just as Lance prepared to call out the two Dragonair for full combat, Victor suddenly pulled out something from his pocket and pressed a button.

But Lance didn't pay it any mind, instead holding two miniature Poké Balls in his hands, ready to throw them after pressing the central button.

However, the next second, something unbelievable happened.

After pressing the switch, the Poké Balls didn't enlarge!

"Cousin! That!" Little Clair shouted, clearly startled as she pointed at Victor.

Lance turned to look.

He found the masked man holding a remote control with an antenna.

"You did this?!"

Lance gritted his teeth and asked.

"Do you know 'Magnet Pull', Commander Lance?" Victor asked with a smile.

Before Lance could respond, his cousin Little Clair had already spoken up:

"Magnet Pull? Isn't that the ability of Magnemite and its family?"

Clap—clap—

Victor clapped and nodded: "Exactly. Pokémon like Magnemite and Probopass have the ability to make Steel-type Pokémon bond to them upon entering the field, preventing them from returning to their Poké Balls."

"I adapted this ability to invent this magnetic remote control. Just by pressing this button in the middle..."

As he spoke, Victor showed the red button on the remote to the Ryugu siblings across from him.

"The antenna emits a special magnetic force, preventing the switches of the Poké Balls from working normally, and of course, Pokémon inside can't come out."

After listening to Victor's explanation, Lance felt like he was about to explode.

He had fought hard to get to where he was and had faced strong foes before.

But it was his first encounter with such a disgusting adversary.

It was like you eagerly assembled a Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck, only for your opponent to pull out a hell deck out of nowhere.

It was utterly infuriating!

"Of course, you can also try to use the Pokémon inside to unleash a move and forcefully break the Poké Ball, but the premise is that they manage to control their power and not hurt their own trainer."

In the comics, the red Pikachu had managed to gain time to help Red defeat Giovanni by charging its electricity inside the Poké Ball ahead of time.

This meant Pokémon could use moves from inside the ball.

But... trying to break out from the inside was too risky.

Firstly, the space inside the ball was small, making it difficult to exert power.

Moreover, if they used a move, it might not be powerful enough to break the Poké Ball, and they might end up hurting themselves.

If the power was too great, the trainer was too close.

If not careful, the trainer might end up going flying too!

In that moment, Lance's Flying-type Pokémon inside their Poké Balls all displayed hesitation, afraid to act rashly.

"Damn it! Dragonite!"

Without the two Dragonair to assist, Lance could only grit his teeth and force Dragonite to charge once more.

"I told you, he's no match for Beedrill!"

Once Victor finished speaking, Beedrill immediately flung Anders aside.

In its place, Dragonite was met with a powerful Thunder Punch.

Deadly Sting vs Thunder Punch!

Just as the two were about to collide, Beedrill suddenly sidestepped to evade.

Dragonite was caught off guard, its Thunder Punch missing entirely.

In the next moment, Beedrill struck back, thrusting a stinger into Dragonite's neck!

"Dragonite!" Seeing this, Lance displayed a rare emotion known as "impatience."

"Cousin! Behind you!"

Hearing his cousin's terrified shout, Lance instinctively turned.

He saw that ominous black Eevee had appeared behind him without him noticing.

"Haah~~"

Umbreon opened its mouth, exhaling a cloud of mist that accurately hit Lance's handsome but rebellious face.

"Oh no, oh no..."

A strong sense of fatigue washed over his mind, and Lance felt the world around him blur rapidly.

It was the Yawn!
