The Knight of Ruin(DxD)

Chapter 113: A Demon God's Vow

Once Trihexa had been dealt with and was no longer a brain-dead beast that only sought destruction, Romonus turned to Lady Red and Ophos.

"I am going to leave her to you two since you two are her siblings. I already did my part by helping give her a brain."

Lady Red turned to Ophos who shrugged.

"You are the sister, you should do it. I have my child after all."

Ophis shook her head as her counterpart was extremely shameless. More shameless than anyone she had ever met. Lady Red sighed as she placed her hand on Trihexa's shoulder.

"If you two are going to strong-arm me into this, then fine."

She opened a Dragon Gate to the Dimensional Gap before dragging Trihexa into it. She wouldn't be back, so Romonus turned to Ophos.

"Do you think you are ready?"

Ophos nodded after puffing on his cigar.

"More than ready, all we need to do is wait for the Evie to make their move, or we make the first move."

Romonus thought about it as either way, it is a battle that would either be a stomp or harder than he thought.

"Let us wait, I still have my wedding after all."

Ophos nodded as that was all the Underworld and Supernatural Community were talking about. Every major power from every Pantheon would attend as Romonus invited them all. Especially those who had helped him become a Demon God.

That was all that was on his mind as his lovers had forbidden him to see them for the week leading up to it. He knew they were getting ready, but he wanted to be surprised. At the moment the entire Underworld was in shambles as the wedding was going to be at Lucifade.

Last he checked Latia had released her army of machines to clear out the ruins to build up a titanic Gothic Cathedral of a church in his honor. It was going to be a grand place of worship to him so he allowed his lovers to build it how they wanted.

He smiled as he turned around to address Ophis.

"Ophis, want to join in the wedding?"

She shook her head as she ate a donut.

"No. I do not need a wedding."

He smirked.

"You sure? When you start asking for one I am going to be busy."

Ophos turned to her with a thumbs-up and a grin.

"Come on, go for it. Join the girls in their wedding planning. I will walk you myself."

Ophis turned to Romonus who smiled at her.

"I would like if you joined."

Ophis looked back and forth between Ophos and Romonus before she shrugged.

"Only because there is cake, fine. Make sure you don't spy, it is bad luck or something. I think."

She then teleported away to join the rest of Romonus' wives-to-be. When she was gone, Romonus smiled as it seemed he just kept winning.

"Well, since she left I am leaving too."

Ophos took a puff of his cigar as he was curious.

"Where will you go?"

Romonus thought about it as he could return to house Bael, but he had to make a stop.

"No, I have something to do. Azi, Kharn, Grimaldus, Mephiston, you four are free to go for the day. The same goes for you 12. Have fun, but don't go around slaughtering people or something."

They bowed deeper before Romonus teleported away to the Underworld, specifically to the Gremory Estate. When he appeared in front of his childhood home he looked up at it before he walked in.

When he opened the double doors he was spotted by some maids and butlers walking around. They were about to line up to present themselves, but he merely waved his hand.

"There is no need, continue your work."

With his order, they gave him the space he wanted as he walked through the mansion he grew up in. He took in the sight before hanging his head high. He kept walking through the hallways of the manor before he made it to Zeoticus' office.

The doors were closed, but he could tell his Father was inside. Before he walked in, Romonus took a deep breath as he knocked on the door. Zeoticus who was sitting at his desk typing away at a Magitech Computer that combined magic and technology raised his head.

"Who is it?"

"It's me, Romonus."

When he heard his son's voice, Zeoticus opened his mouth to speak, but he held himself back.

"Come in."

Romonus opened the doors and stepped inside with Archaon still equipped. For a few moments, neither knew what to say before Romonus sat down on the chair. He had to reinforce it as Ruin Maker, The Cursed Shield, and Archaon weighed 15 tons altogether.

When he was seated, Romonus spoke first.

"How are you doing?"

Zeoticus lowered his head.

"Better than before, but I could be better. I heard of the wedding."

Romonus nodded as he kept quiet for a few moments.

"Hard not to, the entire Underworld and Supernatural Communities the world over were informed. Not all were invited, but a giant number were of every faction. That is actually why I am here. Has Rias talked to you yet?"

"She has. She came here last week to ask if I would be willing to walk her down the aisle. Are you here to ask the same thing?"

"No, if she asked you and you are yet to respond that is for you and her to decide. I was here to extend the invite to Asterion. While I am here, what is your thought on the matter? What is going on in your head?

Tell me with full honesty, whatever it is, I will accept it."

Zeoticus nodded as he closed his computer and thought of things.

"Want to know what I think? What is going on in my head? Two things go through my mind on repeat. The first is pure Self Loathing because you are right that I fucked my marriage over. If I had been able to see what was happening to put a stop to it, maybe things would have gone differently.

The second is an extreme aversion to you. I did so much for you and you betrayed me like this. Even the armor you wear was paid for by me. To me, I did so much for you and you stole my wife, your Mother from me. Why?"

Romonus looked his Father in the eyes and he knew that was true. He didn't look away as he remembered how things went downhill.

"I did try to give you a chance. That day when we had that talk, I told you to apologize and try to get her back. I even spoke to my Mother a few hours after and tried to tell her to give you a chance. Do you want to hear what she told me? Do you?"

Zeoticus nodded.

"What did she say?"

Romonus waved his hand and he recreated the day he and Venelana had the talk that changed their relationship completely. When Zeoticus saw a younger Romonus and Venelana talking he listened to what Romonus said to Venelana.

"I talked to Dad about your troubles and I think he wants to work on things."

Zeoticus saw how Venelana in the recreation seemed to scowl.

"You shouldn't have."

"I think I do since I at least owe it to you two to try to mend things."

Venelana paused for a few moments before she turned away.

"I don't want to go back Romonus, I felt you understood me more than he ever will. Is that so wrong Romonus? To want a man who appreciates you and doesn't ignore you for years a a time. Even if he is your son because I know what I want and it is not him.

Even if he changes his act now, what will be the point? Just because he wants his cock to work again he will change? How pathetic. For how long? A decade, two, three, four, or even a century. Eventually, things will return to as they have always been as people do not change that fast."

Romonus cut the imagery as he could see Zeoticus was looking even more depressed.

"I did try to at least give you a chance. I was 11 and I was still trying to help you. Venelana just gave up on you like you gave up on her. Though, I will say I thank your honesty for saying what you feel."

Zeoticus leaned back as he sighed.

"I guess you are right."

Zeoticus took a few moments to gather his thoughts together before he made up his mind.

"I will be going for Rias' sake since she is still my daughter. I rather not watch my ex-wife marry my son, but if the alternative is to miss her wedding I will stomach my disgust."

Romonus nodded.

"I can accept that."

Just as he stood up, Zeoticus spoke up.

"Romonus, I have something to tell you."

Romonus was already standing so he turned to wait for the answer.

"If I am being honest, I don't think you and me can remain as Father and Son. I am not disowning you since we will always be blood, but if I am honest, I loathe everything that your relationship with Venelana represents.

Since it reminds me of what a failure I was, and what I could have done. It seems that feeling will never go away, but you make her happy. More than I ever could so I will be there, I will be respectful, but I think our relationship will never be the same again."

Romonus lowered his head before he raised it high.

"If it means anything, I vow to make sure they want for nothing."

Zeoticus sighed.

"I know you will."

With that taken care of, Romonus opened up a portal before he stepped through. This time, he appeared at his Demon King Castle. He climbed up the mountain of skulls before he took his seat on his throne of slaughter.

When he was seated, Romonus held his head high with a sad smile. He didn't blame his Father, as it was only fair to hate him for stealing Venelana. Though, he had to admit it hurt to be effectively disowned in a way.

However, he accepted it as it was the consequence of his actions. Now, he just had to wait for the promised day of his marriage.

---

For the next seven days, Romonus didn't move from his throne, did not meditate, did not sleep, and did not think. He just sat there with his mind empty as he allowed time to pass him by.

In the meantime, at Lucifade, Latia had asked her uncle to aid her and together they were rebuilding Lucifade in a Gothic Style. In the center was a titanic Gothic Cathedral not only for the wedding but as a place of worship for Romonus.

Romonus had no holy symbol as the Stars of Chaos in his eyes didn't count. As such, Latia had made one for him, but she wanted him to see it first. With only seven days to finish, she was on a time crunch, but she would get it done through Time Dilation Fields.

She wanted her wedding with Romonus to be perfect since she was not the only one getting married. She and all her friends who would soon become her sisters as well were offering all their support.

From here, she could see Silvana and Vespera commanding their Undead to aid her machines. Even Ophis was here using her status as a Dragon God to not just enhance the buildings made, but to make sure nothing could damage them.

Ajuka who was giving her mostly free reign, decided to speak up as he looked at the Cathedral that was already over a mile tall, taller than the human Burj Khalifa. It was taking a lot to build it, but the Demon Engines that Latia was commanding were doing it.

"Are you happy with what you built?"

Latia nodded.

"Of course I will. Seven Days with Time Dilation Fields is plenty since I don't need sleep and things are almost done. I had to build several mansions for the guests since this is going to be a multi-day event. It will be grand and majestic and it needs to be the greatest. Nothing less will satisfy me."

Ajuka nodded.

"That is a very Devil-like thing to say. We are creatures of passion and if you want the best, you will get the best. Though, why have you told Romonus to stay out of the planning?"

Venelana who was watching the speedy construction spoke up.

"It was my idea, Romonus rarely gets surprised so we want to surprise him. All of us have been preparing for this for two months with our families. We want to give him a good wedding and to enjoy being a husband before he has to do anything else."

"Good to know."

They only had to put the finishing touches and when it was ready, Romonus would be in for the best day of his life.
