The Life of an Overpowered Elf

Chapter 21: A Duel of Flowers and Steel

Bree continued her less-than-exciting lesson until it was time to say goodbye as her class left in single file, having an hour off for lunch.

"Now then," Bree scratched her cheek "I wonder how Olu has been doing," Bree walked out of the Greenhouse and easily located Olu with a tracking spell, she could see his location for quite a distance as there was a crowd in the area.

Upon arriving she found the crowd was for Olu, who was currently focused entirely on a fight between himself and a monster she had never seen before. It had two long spindly black legs, it had no visible mouth, and four orange eyes, with long flowing hair that looked to be made of fire and magma, it was tall, wearing a skin-tight Black suit. It had a total of four arms each holding a katana and each one enveloped in flames.

The two were moving at high speed as they tried to rush each other, Olu disappearing and reappearing behind his opponent, he swung down and was met with a sword blade, Olu jumped away as his opponent threw two of their swords at him, Olu only just managed to doge before swinging up, catching the two remaining blades in mid-air.

Olu's opponent backed off before slicing at Olu from either direction, Olu jumped forward and his blade slid past his opponent's neck and he tapped them on the head.

"Match point," A Man said, Bree watched as a man with Orange shaggy hair walked up to the fight holding the two thrown swords in his hands, He was wearing a tank top and shorts, along with an odd leathery-looking shawl around his shoulders. He had two small horns that were barely visible with his hair and a long whip-like tail. "Good try Madeline," He said as he passed her back the swords. "You might have won if you hadn't thrown your swords,"

"I forgot about the anti-magic Barrier," She admitted in embarrassment, her voice had an odd effect to it, almost like an echo.

"I must say I am impressed nonetheless," Olu said as he walked up to her "Even Marcus here wasn't as skilled as you are when he was your age, you have a bright future ahead of you young lady,"

"Thank you, sir," Madeline said with a respectful bow, one that Olu returned immediately. Madeline walked away from Olu, After she got a certain distance away she absorbed her swords into her arms.

Bree looked over at Madeline, mostly interested in finding out what exactly her species was.

"Oh, hello there," a Buffalo Monster man from the crowd said upon noticing Bree, Bree looked up at him and he pointed at the ground "Pretty crazy isn't it?"

"Quite so," Bree agreed. "Are you in this class?"

"Oh no I'm a seventh year, and only the best of the eight years are permitted into the honors sword class," The Buffalo looked at Bree for a moment before shaking his head "You're not wearing a school uniform so you must be a teacher, but I pretty sure I've never seen you before,"

"I'm a guest teacher," Bree replied simply "I was supposed to teach Either year honors Botany but the current professor complained and had me put in charge of the first-year trouble class," Bree pointed towards Olu before adding "I was just wondering how my friend Olu was doing with his class is all,"

"Oh," The Buffalo chuckled. "Man those guys are some crazy first years, rumor has it that Chauncy kid and his two followers Killed off a hoard of Feral Goblins over the break," A Short Corgi-like dog girl laughed and the Buffalo turned to her. "I'm serious," He said with determination.

"Why if it isn't my dear friends," Olu said, his attention being drawn over to Bree thanks to the Buffalo man, Bree had specifically told Olu not to call her Mistress or Lady while they were working at the school together. "Say, you and Marcus should have a sparring match," Olu decided with a glint in his eye.

"Oh," Maruc looked at Bree with interest "Now who might this be? Another old Pupil of yours?"

"She taught me a thing or two," Olu admitted "She's the reason I've finally perfected the Half Circle technique," Marcus looked even more intrigued.

"A fancy way of saying you move around your target in a half circle faster than the eye can track and hit them in their blind spot," Marcus nodded. "What say you then?" Marcus asked as he looked to Bree, "Fancy a little sparring match, I'm sure the Students will love it,"

"As much as I would love to," Bree replied, "My swords of made of pure magic, so I can't rightly fight you with all my might within an Anti-Magic barrier,"

"An Easy Fix," Marcus said before turning to a Cyclops Girl, "Cut the Barrier," He instructed, the Cyclops Girl nodded and reached down picking up a small White Pyramid and pressing the top, the Anti-Magic barrier became visible for a moment before being sucked into the Pyramid, turning it black as it did so. "Now then, how about now?"

"I have never actually used a sword before," Bree thought with great concern as she walked past the crowd and stood in the center with Marcus, Who held up his hand and summoned an O Katana, Bree looked at the long blade before holding her hands out.

"Lox Lotum," She declared, roots burst from the ground and Marcus and Olu watched with Interest as a twin set of Flower swords grew into her hands.

"Wow," Marcus said as murmurs of amazement came from the crowd, "I never thought I'd see a sword made out of a Flower," Bree stood her ground, her sword pointed downward, unsure if a stance would even make a difference seeing as her first every use of swords was going to be against a literal master of swords.

"I'm about to make a fool of myself," Bree groaned inwardly, Outwardly she had the same smiling face with half-open eyes. "Alright then let's get this started," Marus lifted his sword with both hands and spread his feet apart, raising his blade to his right side and standing at the ready. Bree simply kept her swords pointed to the ground.

Olu walked outside of the circle and raised his hand, "Let the match begin," He declared, Marcus rushed at full speed towards Bree, and she simply stood waiting for him as she raised her swords, as Marcus grew closer Bree noticed he was bracing himself for something.

Marcus hit the ground hard with his right foot and Bree realized he was planning to slide with all his might to one side while swinging his sword at Bree.

True to her thought Marcus slid to the right, with his Blade swinging towards Bree with all of his might behind it. Bree stepped back from the blade's reach and watched as Marcus slid to a stop before running back at her, doing the same moment again, with Bree once again dodging him the same way.

Bree saw through his ploy the third time and proceeded to side step and he stabbed forward, trying to catch her mid-dodge. Bree raised her swords and sliced them haphazardly in front of her, Marcus used his speed and rushed forward, moving slightly to the side to avoid Bree's blade.

Marcus turned back to Bree, returning to his stance before running at her again, instead of running past he swung at her and then brought the blade back at the edge of his swing's arch, Bree did her best to block his blade with hers and had the impression of playing a very sharp version of patty cake.

"This is not nearly as hard as I thought it would be," Bree realized as she kept him at bay with ease, Marcus and Bree broke apart and Marcus laughed.

"How about we kick this up a notch?" he asked "Since we're allowed to use magic," Marcus slammed his foot to the ground and Bree watched as his Shadow came to life, making an exact duplicate of Marcus.

"Can't say I've ever seen that before," Bree admitted as the twin Marcuses raised their swords.

"Then as a Freeby, you should know my Shadow's sword is just as capable of harming you as I am," Marcus ran forward, but his Shadow vanished, Bree could hear the wind disturbance and swung her sword behind her, blocking the Shadow Sword with her own, as the same time Marcus swung his sword at Bree's head, only to vanish himself and appear on her left with a swing towards her midsection, Just as he was about to hit his sword was suddenly pulled back as the grass shot up from the ground and wrapped around his arm.

"Since we're using magic," Bree said casually, "I think I'll start trying a little," Bree hadn't meant it as an insult but she saw from the look on Marcus's face that she may have done just that. Bree raised her sword and it grew rapidly, shooting past Marcus almost faster than he could react.

Marcuses suddenly began sparking and lighting burnt to life from him and caused the grass holding him to be burned away.

"Take this seriously," He said, now starting to breathe heavily as he lunged at Bree, who followed his example and proceeded to vanish, her elongated flower sword exploding into blades of grass as she did so, Resulting in Marcus stabbing his clone as it was mid-swing. Marcus quickly dissipated it and turned with his sword at the ready to Counter Bree for what he thought must have been a half-circle maneuver, only for him to feel something poke him in the back of the neck.

"Match," Olu declared as Bree tapped Marcus with the side of her remaining blade.

"Well that was fun," Bree said as her remaining sword fell to pieces in her hand. Marcus fell to the ground, breathing hard as he looked behind him at Bree, who hadn't even broken a sweat even after running a full circle around him faster than the eye could see.

"You weren't even trying," He realized "Seems I'm the one who was being tested after all,"

"Oh don't feel too bad," Bree said sweetly, "You lasted longer than most, the only other person who fought me that long was probably Argit,"

"The Demon Lord?" Marcus demanded in shock.

"Yes him," Bree said casually, "Anyway, I'm sure you all want to get back to your class activities so I'd best go eat some lunch while I still have the time,"

"The Demon Lord?" Marcus demanded, now looking to Olu.

"Oh, why yes, she and he became good friends after she beat him,"

"She beat him?" Marcus cried out in greater shock.

As Olu began telling the crowd about Bree, she opened a dimensional door and walked into her temporary home, Annie was standing at the ready, a tray of food in her hands.

"I prepared Lunch for you, My lady," Annie said excitedly. "A thermos of Tea, multiple pieces of meat and cheese between crackers, and a green apple cut into small cubes." Bree had to hold back her laugh as Annie held up a pyramid of crackers with meat and cheese squished between them surrounded by a little block wall of apples.

"Thank you very much, Annie," Bree thanked as she took the tray, "I do hope you'll forgive me but I don't have time to eat here, I'll have to take this back to the classroom with me,"

"No worries my Lady," Annie responded without skipping a beat. "I'll be waiting here for you to return," Bree waved goodbye as she opened another dimensional door and returned to the classroom. Annie's Plastic eye and Button turned Yellow and she stood silently in place as she proceeded to watch Bree's every movement.
