Chapter 8: Power
Nala ran towards the window to see how the monsters looked. The others calmly walked to the large window. To see everything unfold.
There was no one outside. It looked like everyone's daily needs were being halted due to the break-in. Nala was ready to see tall, bloodthirsty monsters ready to kill everyone.
Nothing happened for a while. It all remained relatively quiet. Nala only saw tiny things getting closer. The more and more they walked towards the main palace, the more human they looked.
Nala thought that they were people running away from the monsters, but they remained calm. They had poorer clothes, but they were still humans.
"Atlas! Attack!" Sir Loro commanded the army to attack the people.
Wait, what is happening? Why are they attacking these innocent people?
It all clicked for Nala: "The monsters are just the poor people. There is truly nothing outside," she whispered.
It all made sense; it was a riot to fight against the ruling class and to combat corruption. Nala realized how the rich stay rich. They steal their lands and demonize them to fit their agenda.
"Hey, Nala. I think it's about time to tell you that the monsters are just poor people. Haha, isn't it funny to make them suffer? I love torturing them; they are subhuman filth." Sir Loro, with pure hatred, laughed at the atrocities he had committed.
Nala saw the poor people carrying pitchforks, machetes, rocks, and everything they could arm themselves with. Leading the fight is a man with a sun-like figure behind him.
Nala is observing the Atlas army guards align themselves in a straight line. Behind them stands a line of people covered by the sun in the twilight sun color. It's a strong dark red with hints of yellow, standing on par with the light emitted by the main warrior.
Nala stares into the beauty of colors mixing just below her. The war begins, and most of the peasants are holding their ground, dashing toward the guards and just taking every attack unbothered. One of the mages from the back line called upon the light.
In an instant, the whole front line of peasants was eradicated, only leaving the ashes of what had unfolded. Nala was blinded due to the caliber of light. Once she opened her eyes and saw that most of the people were gone, she felt the ever-familiar pull.
…
Nala opened her eyes to see and hear hundreds of cries from the people who had just died. Nala gets transported into the accumulation of the tragic life of people outside the rich.
Nala is like an omniscient being, only being a translucent figure watching a little girl severely malnourished and her father in a similar condition giving her the grains of rice to eat. The scene made the real Nala's emotions mix into Note. The next scene is at the death of the young girl. The rest of the family cried after her death. The hatred inside the family against the elite only grew from that day until now. However, now they are all gone.
Nala starts seeing another family being tossed out of their lands to continue expanding the rich's territory. Using military force to kill everyone who resisted or just murdering to satiate their sadistic tendencies. Nala and Note became more and more one.
The last episode started like the rest of the sky dark, all of the soul of the land was in the area where the rich reside. It all felt like two different worlds. There were no people; only sadness reigned over this dried land. The land began to shake; the undead started to arise.
Justice! Justice! Justice!
All of the undead started to cry for justice. They all simultaneously began to stare at Nala, extending their hands. Nala, now trembling with fear, felt all of the pain that those innocent people had to live for only for the rich to destroy everything they worked for.
The one that pierced Nala's soul was of that little girl in the first scene eating her arm while the other one pointed at Nala.
"AHHHHHH! Stop!! Please stop!!!" Nala, feeling the entire hatred enter her mind, reached a point of breaking; if it weren't for Note, she would go insane.
Nala woke up from the nightmares to tears falling down her face. Note and Nala were now one. The real Nala dominated the emotions while Note controlled the mental fortitude. After mixing, Nala immediately ran down the stairs to finish any more madness.
There were still many attacks between the peasants and the guards. The main attack force of the peasants managed to pierce the main guard force. All the strength of the man with the blessing of sunrise.
While Nala was in the scenarios, the man retreated his army to not cause any more unnecessary casualties. The man took out his sword; the light sunrise surged through his entire body. A mass attack was organized to defeat him before his main attack was released.
The guards and mages started attacking, but every attack vanished by the potency of the power. The power of the hope and dreams of all his fallen soldiers only amplified the brightness of the sword.
Noticing nothing they are doing is working, they decided to retreat.
"Sunrise!!!" the man let off the attack, eradicating everyone that has killed someone with malicious intention.
