The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 261 - Dilemma

While Jiang Hui and Huan Xian were sprinting madly, Zhou Xiuwen and the others had already reached the L4 energy point. With Clarens’s help, the three of them eliminated the two teams that were originally stationed at this point, and the process could even be considered easy.

Next, all they had to do was wait patiently until Jiang Hui and the others arrived.

They quickly noticed the situation with Huo Qi and the others.

“They succeeded,” Clarens said calmly, looking at the numbers flashing above. He seemed certain that the achievement was the work of Jiang Hui and Huan Xian.

Xierman and Zhou Xiuwen had no doubts, as they also believed this to be the truth.

Jiang Hui and the others had gone ahead to ambush Huo Qi and the others, and now, Huo Qi’s team had lost one of their survival chances, while Jiang Hui and Huan Xian were completely unharmed. The result of their clash made it clear who won and who lost.

Then, when they saw Huo Qi and the others appear within the L11 area, all of them let out a collective sigh of relief.

It seemed they were on their way here.

Although there would only be about ten star minutes left by the time they arrived, with both of them still having over 80% of their remaining energy, even if they couldn’t fully recharge, they would still be able to last until much later in the competition. This would not affect the rest of the game.

On the other hand, Huo Qi and the others would have to worry. With only 25 star minutes left, managing to recharge to 70% would be an achievement, and it would certainly set them back.

This was something Jiang Hui and the others had planned from the start.

The group, feeling pleased, didn’t realize that the seemingly smooth situation they thought Jiang Hui and Huan Xian were in was far from ideal.

After the announcement just now, the entire range of charging points in the training ground fell into a kind of calm.

Before, everyone had no idea how much time was left and had been running around hunting, which was normal. But now that they all knew the remaining charging time was short, no matter how much they wanted to pursue other contestants, they had to put everything down and focus on recharging their simulation chest pieces, or else they might never have another chance.

At the L4 energy point, the three waiting anxiously kept glancing at the leaderboard above, keeping an eye on the situation. Finally, they saw their teammates, who had been separated for a while, arriving.

But the situation before them didn’t look good.

After the ambush, Huan Xian and Jiang Hui didn’t dare to stop along the way and just focused on rushing ahead, heading toward L4 without pause.

At this point, recharging wasn’t the priority. The most important thing was to quickly find a safe place to treat Jiang Hui’s injury. Otherwise, her leg might really be broken in this small competition.

Looking at the two figures approaching in the distance, Zhou Xiuwen and the others felt a surge of excitement, knowing that Jiang Hui and the others had finally made it.

But when they got closer, they realized that Huan Xian, rushing toward them, looked very grim, and the person he was carrying on his back was in a strange state. The arms hanging limply over the boy’s shoulders, and the head slumped down. Was she… unconscious?

The group felt a shock in their hearts. Given Jiang Hui’s temperament, she wouldn’t have been able to fall asleep so carelessly while being surrounded by enemies. Even in the most dangerous situations, she always remained vigilant of her surroundings to guard against attacks from all sides. How could she have let her and her teammates’ backs be exposed to the enemy? So it could only mean one thing—she was unconscious.

Huan Xian’s severe expression only confirmed this point—something must have happened.

Zhou Xiuwen didn’t care about the map anymore and rushed out of the energy area. Seeing this, Xierman followed quickly. Clarens glanced over at the situation, instinctively shifted his steps but ultimately didn’t move, choosing to stay stationed within the L4 zone.

As it turned out, Zhou Xiuwen’s concerns were not unfounded.

Jiang Hui had fainted.

She had collapsed during the journey while Huan Xian was carrying her. She seemed to have lost too much blood. Her face was as white as paper, and the bandages she had just replaced were soaked in bright red blood, mixing with the dark dried blood clots in patches, making it look gruesome.

“What happened? Did Huo Qi and the others do this?!”

Huan Xian didn’t respond, not bothering to explain to the others, and rushed like the wind into the L4 area.

Clarens furrowed his brow, looking at Huan Xian, who had finally returned but with an injured person. Unable to hold back, he asked, “What happened to her?”

What happened? No one knew better than Huan Xian.

Jiang Hui’s fall had been instinctive. It was too fast, and the angle at which she landed was casual, making it impossible to control by the end.

Unfortunately, the spot they had ambushed was filled with loose sand and uneven terrain, making it uncomfortable to stay there. When Jiang Hui had fallen hard onto the ground, the injury to her calf was directly hit, and it couldn’t have been good.

Her leg muscles had already been deeply cut by sharp, thin stones, resulting in a large but narrow wound. Although she had rested for a long time, the wound had not healed; it had been barely maintained through temporary treatment and minimizing movement to prevent further deterioration.

But after this fall, the wound was torn open again, and the injury worsened. The previously smooth, uninjured skin was now scraped and torn, becoming a bloody mess.

When Zhou Xiuwen helped to tear off the bandages on her leg, he saw that her calf was barely recognizable, the wound visibly severe.

“Didn’t you go to ambush Huo Qi? Did he chase you, or… how did she get hurt so badly?” Xierman’s eyes were red. In his mind, Jiang Hui wasn’t just a teammate, but his first friend in school, one of the few people his own age he could truly call a friend.

He hadn’t cared much about the competition—he was just looking for some fun—but to see his friend taking it so seriously, so seriously that she neglected her own health, getting hurt more and more each time, he couldn’t help but feel frustrated with her.

Why was she so stubborn? Her leg was so important.

Once again, the same question was asked.

Huan Xian’s expression grew colder and more emotionless, his fist at his side tightening more and more.

How should he answer? How should he respond? Jiang Hui had gotten hurt like this because she was trying to save him.

Yes, save him. She had indeed tried to save him.

Though using the word “save” in a school competition where there was no life-threatening danger might sound exaggerated, to Huan Xian, it felt like a rescue.

If today wasn’t a school competition, if there had been no simulation chest vests, and if the bullets aimed at him had been real, and he couldn’t dodge them, then he would either be seriously injured or dead.

But Jiang Hui had saved him—not at the cost of her own safety, but by rescuing him from the bullets while ensuring her own safety.

In Huan Xian’s brief life, he had never felt so clearly that he was human, someone who could be hurt and feel powerless—a person who could be saved.
