chapter 39
Chapter 39: The Maid Who Knows How to Cook Always Earns Extra Points
“Master, it’s time to eat.”
With An’s call, Mu En opened his eyes.
An’s voice was so gentle that it made Mu En feel as if he had returned to the past, lying on that soft big bed, waking up every morning to An’s calls.
Unfortunately, that was just a thing of the past.
At this moment, Mu En was imprisoned in a cage, with a cold steel surface beneath his bare bottom, colder than his heart.
“How long has it been?”
Mu En raised his eyes to look at An, a fleeting weariness flashing in his gaze.
“It’s been a whole night.”
An placed the food box in front of Mu En and chuckled softly:
“Did you sleep well last night, Master?”
“What do you think?”
Mu En angrily tugged at the shackles on his wrists and sneered:
“Take these shackles off me, and bring in a two-meter-wide bed with velvet blankets and pillows, instead of making me sit bare on this cold ground. Maybe one day I’ll get used to having a place to stay.”
“I’m afraid I can’t fulfill the young master’s request. After all, if I accidentally let you slip away, I would be extremely, extremely sad.”
“Am I not just a wastrel young master you’ve raised? What kind of treatment is this? Even death row inmates don’t suffer like this!”
“A little caution never hurts.”
An slowly took out the breakfast from the food box and smiled:
“I noticed you looked a bit tired yesterday, so I specially made you a nourishing soup.”
“Nourishing soup?”
“Yes, it’s something I read in a book. It’s basically soup made from tiger whip, bull whip, goblin whip, troll whip, and Morolita giant bear whip, among other things. I heard it’s very beneficial for men.”
“What is a Morolita giant bear?” Mu En’s expression changed slightly.
“It’s a type of magical beast. I heard that when male Morolita giant bears are in heat and can’t find a mate, they tend to create a lot of tree holes around their habitat in one night, so they are also colloquially known as tree hole giant bears.”
“Tree holes…”
Mu En didn’t want to ask how those tree holes came to be.
He looked down, watching An use her delicate fingers to twist open the container lid and pour the pungent black soup into a bowl.
For some reason, as the soup flowed, he felt his little heart quiver along with it.
“Are you sure these things can be mixed together and drunk?”
“Of course they can.”
An said, “You probably don’t know, but since you were ten years old, I’ve been secretly adding these things to your food. Of course, considering your age, I didn’t put in much.”
“What?”
Mu En’s face changed drastically.
“Ten years old?”
That meant he had been drinking this so-called nourishing soup for a full eight years!
“You have to prepare for the future. Actually, what I wanted to add the most was dragon whip, but unfortunately, dragons are not so easy to catch. I can only try to get some for you to taste later.”
“Don’t make catching a dragon sound so easy; I’m really scared!”
“Why should you be scared, young master? As long as you listen to me, I absolutely won’t harm you.”
An lifted the soup bowl and offered the spoon to Mu En.
“Come on, young master, open your mouth, ah—”
“I won’t drink it!”
Mu En shook his head, avoiding the spoon.
God knows if drinking too much of this stuff would have any side effects!
Perhaps the original owner was so foolish because of this so-called nourishing soup.
“Not drinking?”
An Wei’s charming smile suddenly froze.
She leaned down, her eyes locking onto Mu En’s at close range.
In those captivating beautiful eyes, Mu En saw a deep darkness flowing, as if it could sweep out at any moment and devour everything.
“Are you sure?”
Though it was a statement without any threat, Mu En felt as if a gleaming axe was pressed against her heart; if she answered incorrectly, she would instantly feel a chilling sensation.
“No, I’ll drink, I’ll drink.”
Mu En awkwardly nodded, then stretched her head forward, drinking the nourishing soup from the spoon.
A real man can bend and stretch; it’s just a mere nourishing soup, what’s there to not drink?
She had been drinking it for eight years, what’s one more time?
Hmm…
Surprisingly, it was quite tasty.
……
……
After feeding Mu En the nourishing soup spoon by spoon, An suddenly stood up. Before Mu En could react, she saw An’s maid outfit fall to the ground, revealing her pure white body.
“More?”
Mu En couldn’t help but widen her eyes, indignantly exclaiming:
“How long has it been?”
An wasn’t even wearing any underwear.
She had planned this all along!
“What can I do?”
An licked her crimson lips, leaning down inch by inch toward Mu En, her gaze teasing:
“I want to quickly leave a mark on the young master that belongs only to me~”
“Bad woman, don’t come over, ah, um…”
“Mm… The young master says no with his mouth, but his body is still very honest~”
“That… that’s not true.”
“Is it? Mm… but the young master is moving on his own, oh…”
“How could this be…”
……
Two hours later.
……
After it was over, An contentedly put on her dress.
Mu En stared at the ceiling, her gaze blank, like a girl who had been violated by a villain, feeling that life was utterly hopeless.
Seemingly realizing that her actions were indeed a bit excessive towards Mu En, An squatted beside her, propping her face up with her small hand, and said apologetically:
“It seems I might have been too much for you, young master.”
“……”
Mu En shot her a glance, remaining silent.
“With you like this, I really feel guilty.”
Mu En rolled her eyes again.
Guilty?
You’ve done nothing but bad things to me, and you still have a conscience?
“Since that’s the case, how about I grant you a small request?”
Mu En’s eyes brightened, “I want freedom…”
“That won’t do.”
An extended her finger to press against Mu En’s lips.
“I’ve already said, it’s a small request.”
“Then release the shackles.”
“Not possible.”
“I want clothes.”
“Not possible.”
“I want a bed.”
“Not possible.”
“Nothing is possible.”
Mu En lamented:
“Just how small does your request have to be?!”
“Let me think.”
After pondering for a moment, An said:
“Probably to the extent of deciding what to have for lunch.”
“……That’s really small enough.”
Mu En sighed, “Well, better than nothing, I suppose.”
“So, does that mean you’ve made up your mind, young master?”
“Mm, I guess so.”
“What is it?”
“Speaking of which, autumn is just around the corner, isn’t it?”
Mu En didn’t answer immediately, instead, he kept them in suspense.
“At this time of year in the past, I seem to recall drifting on Beiboer Lake, admiring the breathtaking scenery while savoring the delicious autumn fish caught from its waters…”
“You want to eat the fish from Beiboer Lake?”
“Ah, the autumn fish are the most succulent. If steamed and paired with the red wine from the Earl of Rockburg’s estate, it would be a true delicacy.”
“But Beiboer Lake is so far away; if the fish were to be sent…”
“Ah, last year I was gliding across the lake, full of vigor and spirit, and now I can only be confined in this tiny cell. How tragic, how pitiful. What meaning does such a life hold? I might as well be dead.”
“…Alright.”
An’s eyes twitched slightly, but he maintained his smile and said:
“I will get the fish, so please be patient, young master.”
“Oh.”
Mu En abruptly stopped his lament, looked at An, and raised an eyebrow:
“Then I shall wait, An.”
