Chapter 34: A Memory from the Past
Thalrax, the Tyrant, the Demon Lord of Eldoria, had long been a name whispered with fear and disdain. His iron grip on the realm had left its people suffering, yearning for a savior. Little did they know, their hero would come from an unexpected place.
"I was summoned here from another realm," the figure spoke, their voice resonating with a blend of anger and determination. The hero stood tall, their eyes reflecting a fire that seemed unquenchable. "I was bound here against my will, but what you are doing, Thalrax, is going to destroy this world."
Thalrax sneered, his dark eyes narrowing. "And you think you can stop me, interloper? You, who are not even of this world?"
A bitter smile crossed the hero's face. "That is why I chose to pick up the mantle. I will be the hero Eldoria needs. But don't worry, Thalrax, I will not stay a hero in this world."
The hero's words hung in the air, a promise and a threat. As the winds of destiny swirled around them, the people of Eldoria dared to hope once more. The battle for their world had begun, and with it, the rise of an unexpected champion.
It was at that point, after striking down the Demon Lord, that I lost my way in this world. Despite my victory, I was still bound here.

"What now? What can I even do? I'm still the hero after this," I shouted to the heavens. "ORIA! Send me back!" My voice echoed across the land, but no one answered. I cried in anger and frustration, tears streaming down my face. "What should I do now? I'm all alone now. My companions... vanished, dead from battles or the age of time."
I wandered through this world, the years blending together. Fifty years? A hundred years? It didn't matter anymore. "I guess the goddess has forgotten me," I muttered to myself. "I'll bet she didn't even know I am a Valkyrie. My lifespan has no end unless I truly wish for it. But what to do?"
I had seen so much of this world. The races here seemed to be at peace now, rebuilding slowly but surely. The land was healing itself, recovering from the ravages of war. But there was something strange, something missing. "This world doesn't have a World Tree. Or at least, I can't sense its presence."
The absence of the World Tree, a symbol of life and connection from my own realm, left me feeling unmoored. I stood in the middle of a vast field, the wind rustling through the grass, and contemplated my next steps. I had been the hero, the savior, but what was I now?
"Perhaps," I thought, "this is a new journey, a new purpose." Maybe my task was to find or create the heart of this world, to give it the World Tree it lacked. With this new resolve, I set off once more, determined to find a way to bring a new source of life to this realm.
...
"Elara, wake up," Ella spoke softly. "It's getting late, and Heather already picked up Lily. Lilith is at the tavern to get a spot and order food for us. She was so hungry she ran ahead."
"Oh, I must have drifted off." Elara sat up groggily, stretching and yawning. She murmured to herself, "I never did find out about the World Tree. Well, until Jakinn told us."
"What are you murmuring about, Elara?" Ella asked with a smile.
"Ah, it's nothing. I guess I'm still sleepy," Elara replied, shaking off the remnants of her nap. "Let's go to the tavern and plan what we'll do next. We've been resting here for a month now." She smiled, feeling a renewed sense of purpose.
The two friends made their way through the bustling city, the setting sun casting a warm glow over the cobblestone streets. As they approached the lively tavern, the comforting aroma of food and the sound of laughter greeted them.
Inside, they spotted Lilith at a corner table, eagerly digging into a plate of food. She waved them over with a grin. "Took you long enough! This food is amazing."
Elara and Ella joined Lilith, and they chatted and laughed, enjoying the meal and each other's company.
"So, what's our next move?" Ella asked, leaning forward with interest.
Elara looked around the table at her companions. "We've had a good rest, but it's time to move forward. We still have a lot to uncover about this world. Jakinn gave us some leads, and I think it's time we followed them."
"Tell me, Lilith, is Aurora ready to guide us from the necklace?" Elara asked, her eyes full of anticipation.
Lilith nodded and began to explain. "Yes, she talks to me in my dreams now. It seems to be the easiest way for her to communicate with me at the moment."
Ella flew close, her tiny wings fluttering as she hovered near Lilith. "Is she okay now?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
"Yes, it seems so," Lilith replied with a smile. "She is still sleeping but not in a deep slumber anymore."
The news brought a sense of relief to the group. Aurora, their ethereal guide, had been trapped in a deep sleep, her consciousness only accessible through vivid dreamscapes. The fact that her soul was trapped in the necklace meant she would always be with them. Her guidance was crucial for their journey, and knowing she was gradually recovering filled them with hope.
"That's good to hear," Elara said, her voice steady with determination. "We'll need her wisdom for what lies ahead. Jakinn's leads will take us into unknown territories, and having Aurora with us will make a big difference."
Elara leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "Did she say anything specific in your dreams, Lilith? Any advice or warnings?"
Lilith thought for a moment, recalling the vivid dreamscape where Aurora's voice had reached her. "She mentioned that the path ahead is fraught with challenges, but she also spoke of a hidden sanctuary where we might find more answers about the World Tree. She emphasized the importance of staying united and trusting each other."
"Then that's what we'll do," Elara affirmed. "We'll stick together, follow Aurora's guidance, and uncover the secrets this world holds."
Lilith then spoke up with a practical suggestion. "Let's spend a day or two gathering supplies. The way we have to travel is pointing toward Everwood and beyond that. So I'm thinking maybe we could get a guarding quest again for some gold on the way," she said with a smile.
Elara looked proudly at Lilith, smiling. "What a great idea. You're not a rookie adventurer anymore," she teased.
With their plan reaffirmed and a renewed sense of purpose, the group finished their meal. They knew the journey ahead would be difficult, but with Aurora awakening and guiding them, they felt ready to face whatever challenges came their way.
