Tokyo: From Lawless Madpolice to Minister

Chapter 24: Chapter 23: The Elder Brother, Thoughtful Nakamura Shinichi

The Aoyama family had only one car.

It was always used by Aoyama Sosuke.

So when Aoyama Haruko heard the sound of a car engine, she thought her husband had come back early and hurried out to check, only to find it was Aoyama Xiu Xin.

"Xiu Xin?" Aoyama Haruko was surprised and asked curiously, "What's with the car?"

"I go to work every day and not having a car is quite inconvenient, so I kept some of the bonus I received earlier to buy this used car for commuting," Aoyama Xiu Xin lied without blinking an eye. Seeing that his sister-in-law was still wearing an apron, he knew she was cooking, "What delicious meal are you preparing, big sister? I'm already starving."

"Ah! Right, Xiu Xin, how could the bonus be that much?" Hearing Aoyama Xiu Xin mention the bonus reminded Aoyama Haruko of it. Today, when she went to withdraw money with that card, she was shocked to find that the amount was ten million yen.

It startled her. It wasn't a small sum of money. Hearing what Aoyama Xiu Xin just said about keeping part of it to buy a car, could the bonus be even more?

Aoyama Xiu Xin locked the car and walked into the courtyard, replying, "Part of it was the bonus, and part was given privately by my boss because I gave most of the credit to her. Consider it her compensation to me."

"Ah! This...this can't be right!" Aoyama Haruko immediately panicked and stepped forward to block Aoyama Xiu Xin, "How can you sell your achievement to someone else? Don't you want to return to the Police Headquarters? Although our family is short of money, you can't trade your future for it."

"Big sister!" Aoyama Xiu Xin called out and placed his hands on her shoulders, staring into her bright eyes, "I want to return to Police Headquarters, that's why I have to listen to my boss, understand? And, to me, the quality of life for my family is more important."

Aoyama Haruko paused for a moment, pursed her lips, and sighed deeply, somewhat helplessly saying, "If your brother were a National Member of Parliament, none of this would have happened."

She had deep affection for Aoyama Sosuke.

But she also harbored some resentment.

Previously, he said it would take at most three years to return to Tokyo and run for National Member of Parliament, but he ended up staying in Saitama Prefecture for five years, leading to them living apart. Over these years, a lot of money was spent, but his election as a National Member of Parliament seemed nowhere in sight.

One reason why the Aoyama family was financially strained was that Aoyama Sosuke had spent a vast amount of savings running for the Saitama Prefecture Council.

However, being an ordinary County Councilor held little power. Even if Aoyama Sosuke did manage to scrape together some money, he wouldn't bring it home but rather spent it on maintaining relations with colleagues and currying favor with superiors.

Aoyama Sosuke was somewhat like Fujimoto Ryosuke—they both were unscrupulous in their ambition to progress, even if it meant living meagerly themselves, they would still spend generously to entertain colleagues or superiors who could help them.

But he was harsher than Fujimoto Ryosuke. Fujimoto Ryosuke only endured hardship himself and was reluctant to let his family suffer, but Aoyama Sosuke wanted his family to endure hardships with him, all for the sake of his career.

And still, his career had barely made any progress.

Aoyama Xiu Xin didn't like such people.

To him, Aoyama Sosuke was someone who had ambition but not much sense of responsibility.

"My brother is so ambitious, I believe he will definitely become a National Member of Parliament," Aoyama Xiu Xin comforted his sister-in-law, then frowned and looked around, sniffing suspiciously, "What's that smell?"

"Ah! My dishes!" Aoyama Haruko then remembered the dishes that were still cooking on the fire, shouted in alarm, dropped Aoyama Xiu Xin, and hurriedly rushed inside.

Watching his sister-in-law's flustered back, Aoyama Xiu Xin couldn't help but laugh silently, shook his head, and followed her inside. By the time he came down after his shower, his sister-in-law had already set the table.

A faint burnt smell lingered in the living room.

"I wanted to treat you well, Xiu Xin, but didn't expect it to end up like this. I'm really sorry," Aoyama Haruko sat by the dining table, legs together, hands on her lap, slightly bowing her head, looking embarrassed.

She was already petite by nature with her hair loosely tied at the back of her head, still wearing an apron, looking just like a wronged young wife.

Aoyama Xiu Xin walked over, hesitated not a moment to pick a piece of somewhat burnt beef, chewed a few bites, and complimented, "Hmm, the taste is alright. There's a bit of a charred flavor, big sister. I really like it."

To be honest, it wasn't too bad.

"Really?" Aoyama Haruko heard this and looked up surprisedly, then abruptly stood up. But because she got up too hastily, she didn't notice and knocked her chopsticks off the table. She instinctively scrambled to catch them, but in doing so, she accidentally knocked over a cup of water on the table, "Ah!"

"Big sister, are you alright?" Aoyama Xiu Xin hurriedly put down his chopsticks and reached out to hold her arm, asking with concern.

"No, it's fine, the water is warm," Aoyama Haruko shook her head, looking down at the mess on the floor and took a deep breath, slightly annoyed she tapped her head, "Ah! I'm so clumsy today."

Aoyama Xiu Xin looked down and felt a lump in his throat. Aoyama Haruko was wearing a pair of thin, nude-colored stockings today, and the water that had spilled was trickling down her calves and ankles, clinging tightly to the curves of her legs after soaking the stockings, revealing the delicate, fair skin beneath in a particularly tantalizing manner.

"I'll take off the stockings," Aoyama Haruko, unaware of her brother-in-law's gaze, slipped away from him and sat down on the couch, slipping her dainty feet out of her slippers, and slightly lifting her skirt to reveal the edge of her stockings. Her plump, pale thighs were encased in lace-trimmed stockings, creating slight bulges of soft flesh.

She bent slightly forward, slowly peeling the damp stockings from her fingertips, revealing inch by inch of her fair skin to the air. After removing one leg, she threw it to the floor and then proceeded to remove the other.

Aoyama Xiu Xin couldn't take it anymore.

It seemed dinner would have to be cut short today.

He immediately walked towards the door.

"Ah! Xiu Xin, where are you going?" Aoyama Haruko looked up from the couch and called out to his retreating figure.

Without turning back, Aoyama Xiu Xin replied, "Something came up, I won't be home tonight. Don't wait up, sister-in-law."

Mrs. Yeharadong, danger!

................

As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm.

Aoyama Xiu Xin let go of Mrs. Yeharadong's hair, got out of bed, and began to dress. Without looking back, he said, "Thanks for your efforts, please rest well."

Behind him, Mrs. Yeharadong's hair was disheveled, her cheeks flushed, and her eyes misty; she didn't feel like speaking at all.

It's not that I'm tired, it's my fate that's hard.

Her life the day before had been very irregular; while others had three meals a day, she had only one meal every three days.

If it were like this every day.

She felt her health would definitely deteriorate.

"I'll take some money for breakfast." After dressing, Aoyama Xiu Xin turned around, picked up Mrs. Yeharadong's wallet from the bed, took out a few hundred yen, and left.

Having slept with Yeharadong's wife, he took Yeharadong's mobile phone, left Yeharadong's house, drove Yeharadong's car, and headed to work at the Police Headquarters, even using Yeharadong's money to buy breakfast to replenish his energy.

Aoyama Xiu Xin would forever be grateful to Yeharadong!

Upon arriving at the Police Headquarters, he parked the car, held a sandwich, and ate as he walked to the office.

"Good morning, everyone."

"Deputy Director, good morning."

"Deputy Director, have a cup of coffee to warm up your stomach." As soon as Aoyama Xiu Xin sat down, Nakamura Shinichi, with documents under his arm and holding a coffee, came over, placing the coffee down first then handing over the documents, "Here are the owners of those three numbers you asked me to look up yesterday."

His behavior was naturally viewed differently by other colleagues. For instance, Xingzi, who was handling the Takazawa Akiyoshi murder case with him, thought that Nakamura's ingratiating behavior was too flattering and couldn't help murmuring a complaint to Jing Shang.

But Jing Shang, over forty and a veteran officer, just smiled and remained silent, offering no comment.

"That quick?" Aoyama Xiu Xin took a sip of the coffee and was internally appreciating Nakamura Shinichi's thoughtfulness when he heard the latter part and asked in surprise.

With dark circles under his eyes, Nakamura Shinichi slightly bowed his head, "I had a little help from a few friends."

"Alright, you can go. I'll take a look, and call you if needed," Aoyama Xiu Xin waved him off.

Nakamura Shinichi bowed deeply, "Certainly!"
