Back in his car, Aoyama Xiu Xin opened the case to count the contents—everything amounted to debt bonds worth 30 million yen.

Nozaki Masao really was generous, to spend so much money on a mere Deputy Director like him.

This was the second pot of gold he had earned through his own efforts since his transmigration, filled with a sense of achievement, and considerably safer than making money as a hitman in his previous life. Indeed, walking the righteous path was the way to go.

What?

You say it's bribery?

Don't spout nonsense—I'm merely reclaiming in a different way the money that Old Buddha sent out in those years.

It's not even enough to cover the interest.

After placing the case aside, Aoyama Xiu Xin started the car and called Fujimoto Ryosuke.

"Ryosuke, everything's sorted this end. Have you got your side set up? Make sure the person you find is reliable!"

"Mr. Xiu Xin, don't worry. The person I found is definitely reliable. Everything will go according to plan."

Meanwhile, no sooner had Aoyama Xiu Xin left than Nozaki Masao, unable to suppress the irritation and rage boiling inside him any longer, overturned the desk in front of him, exclaiming, "Idiot!"

Such a fool.

But the person was dead now; even if Nozaki Masao wanted to vent his anger, there was no target left—surely he couldn't lash out at a corpse.

After catching his breath with a few heavy gasps, he calmed himself and sat down again, picking up his mobile phone to call Panasonic Junichi. As soon as the call connected, without waiting for the other side to speak, he said in a grave tone, "The police are on to you. They will start investigating soon. Pack up and leave today."

"This... Is it really that serious?" Panasonic Junichi, who was in the midst of having breakfast with his family, was taken aback by these words. Glancing at his lovely daughter and gentle wife, he took the phone and went upstairs to the study, saying, "The police might not find any evidence."

"Idiot!" Nozaki Masao, already in a foul mood, could not help cursing, but then he forcibly calmed down and persuaded, "Junichi, there's something you need to understand—our casino's gamblers lose because they always bet on that one in ten thousand chance."

That's why they lose.

Isn't it because our casino cheats?

Panasonic Junichi couldn't help but complain in his mind, but even through the phone, he could feel the raging anger in the other man's heart and dared not question further, instead anxiously asking, "What about my wife and daughter?"

"You go first. Once you're gone, the police can't use your wife and daughter to threaten you. They are official personnel, not part of the Violent Gang," reassured Nozaki Masao before continuing, "Besides, I'll be here. Once you're safe and settled abroad, I'll send your wife and child to reunite with you."

"Alright! In that case, I'll leave everything in your hands, boss!" Panasonic Junichi responded, and then added, "I'll get ready and leave tonight."

"Do you need my help?" asked Nozaki Masao.

Panasonic Junichi replied, "No need, the police aren't on to me that fast. I plan to use a fake identity to fly out directly, first stay in South Korea for a few days to see how things are blowing, and then decide whether or not to go to Europe."

Japan and South Korea are very close, and their underworld gangs also engage in business dealings, so when criminals commit offenses in their own country, they often run to the other's territory, where local gangs offer shelter to those hiding from the storm.

"Mr. Panasonic, have a smooth journey. Give me a call when you land to let me know you're safe," Nozaki Masao hung up the phone.

...............

The time quickly reached 10 p.m.

Using a business trip as a pretext, Panasonic Junichi said farewell to his wife and daughter. He took his fake passport and suitcase, and with heavy reluctance in the gaze of his wife and daughter, drove away from home.

But what he didn't realize was that as soon as his car exited the neighborhood and merged onto the main road, a white Honda sedan followed leisurely behind him.

Panasonic Junichi was heading to Narita International Airport, located in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan's largest international airport primarily operating international flights.

Narita Airport is about seventy kilometers away from Tokyo City. Before entering Narita City, there is a sparsely populated area. Panasonic Junichi watched as the number of cars on the road dwindled, feeling an uneasy sense of foreboding.

Especially concerning was the white Honda that seemed to have been following him since leaving the City. Just as Panasonic Junichi started to suspect something was amiss, the white Honda suddenly accelerated past him.

Whew—it seemed to be just a coincidence.

Panasonic Junichi had just breathed a sigh of relief when the next second, an unexpected change occurred. The white Honda that had passed him suddenly braked hard right in front of him. Panasonic Junichi was shocked and as he was about to crash, he instinctively pressed the brake pedal. Accompanied by the screeching of tires against the asphalt, the two cars collided with a loud bang.

The immense inertia from the collision propelled Panasonic Junichi's body forward, and his face slammed into the steering wheel, causing his head to spin and consciousness to waver.

In a daze, he saw two men wearing masks exit the Honda in front of him, their hands gloved, one holding a rope and the other a knife.

A multitude of thoughts flashed through Panasonic Junichi's mind in an instant. Driven by a strong will to live, he locked the car doors and shouted in panic, "Who sent you? Don't kill me, I can pay!"

"Bang! Bang!" The two assailants kicked the door without a word, and when they found it wouldn't open, one of them raised an elbow and smashed the window.

"Crash!"

The shattered glass fell everywhere.

"Ahhhh!" Panasonic Junichi, filled with despair, grabbed the briefcase beside him and swung it wildly, screaming in terror, "Is it Nozaki Masao! Is he the one who wants to kill me? I need to talk to him! Ah!"

In the chaos, he was cut on the arm, and the pain made him scream out loud; his facial features twisted in agony.

"The chairman said he got word that the police have set up a watch at the airport, and you can't leave. He told us to give you a ride. Rest assured, your wife and daughter will be well provided for the rest of their lives," one of the assailants said with a hoarse voice, continuing to thrust the knife.

"Ahh!" Another stab landed on the back of Panasonic Junichi's hand. The intense pain and fear led to extreme anger. "Idiot! Nozaki Masao, you bastard, I won't let you off even as a ghost!"

"Woo~ Woo~ Woo~"

Suddenly, the sound of a police siren could be faintly heard.

The night sky was lit up by the alternating red and blue flashing lights of the police— the only light in the darkness!

Listening to the sounds of the sirens he used to hate, Panasonic Junichi, momentarily enlightened, cried out joyously for help, "Save me! Hurry, save me!"

"Police! The people ahead, listen up, drop your weapons and stop committing crimes!" A warning, mixed with the static noise of electric currents, came from the loudspeaker atop the police car.

"Idiot! Retreat!"

The assailants cursed reluctantly, seeing the police car drawing closer, and had no choice but to turn and flee in their car.

"Huff—huff—" Panasonic Junichi, weak from the narrow escape, leaned back against the seat, gasping for air profusely, sweat rolling off him like soybeans.

The police car, with its lights flashing and sirens wailing, stopped beside Panasonic Junichi's car. Soon after, Aoyama Xiu Xin and Nakamura Shinichi got out, shone a flashlight into the car, "It's Panasonic Junichi! Get him to a hospital immediately!"

"Yes!" Nakamura Shinichi responded in cooperation.

This evening's operation had a tremendous impact on his tender psyche. What the hell was Deputy Chief Aoyama doing? It wasn't so much an investigation as it was committing a crime!

But he was also excited.

Because Aoyama Xiu Xin had only brought him along.
