Volume 1 Chapter 118: What A Brat!
From now on, if she had to break the storyline, she’d need to hide somewhere like a bed or a bathroom.
That way, no matter how aroused she became, even if she couldn’t hold back and had to “deal with it” herself, at least the chances of being caught would be lower.
Strictly controlling Wen Yang so the plot couldn’t progress… She’d tried that already—it didn’t work.
The story would come looking for her!
Who would have thought that even Yan Xinya, this random girl, would trigger part of the plot?
She’d been completely transformed into a girl and had even gained a best friend.
After showering and having lunch, Ning Chu looked up at Wen Yang, who was eating instant noodles.
It was the cheap kind, costing less than fifty cents a piece, and he’d even added an egg.
His tutoring money from yesterday hadn’t come through yet, and given Wen Yang’s frugal habits, there was no way he’d skip today’s tutoring session.
“Wen Yang, how about I go with you today? Didn’t you say the lesson’s at the library?”
“You want to come, too?”
“Mm-hmm. Before, you were going to the student’s house, so it wouldn’t have been convenient. But today at the library should be fine, right?”
Wen Yang didn’t think twice and nodded. “Sure.”
Yesterday, that overly friendly high school girl had been tough to shake off. If Ning Chu had been there, maybe he wouldn’t have been stuck with her for so long.
With his agreement, Ning Chu’s eyes lit up. She quickly stood up from her chair, threw on her jacket, put on her shoes, and got ready to head out.
Being alone in the dorm felt terrible. If Yan Xinya didn’t come by today, the afternoon would probably drag on miserably.
Honestly, as much as she enjoyed Yan Xinya’s company, she preferred hanging out with Wen Yang.
Around girls, she still felt a little shy, like a boy who didn’t quite know how to act.
“Are you done eating?”
“Alright, alright, no need to rush.”
Wen Yang tidied up his noodle bowl, grabbed a light coat, and led the way out of the dorm.
Ning Chu jogged to keep up with his pace. “Slow down, slow down! Why do you always walk so fast?”
This guy, with his long legs, always made her run a little to keep up.
Why couldn’t she grow taller already?
“You look even smaller now.” Wen Yang glanced down at her. “Have you lost weight?”
“Maybe?”
It was probably a side effect of the transformation.
Ning Chu glanced at Wen Yang’s hand, which could hold a basketball with one hand, and then looked at her own small, soft hands.
How she envied him… If only she were still a guy.
The temperature had dropped significantly today, down to about 25 degrees Celsius—not cold, but quite a few students on the street were wearing jackets already.
At the campus bus stop, they boarded a half-empty bus. Ning Chu followed Wen Yang to the back and sat beside him, both excited and cautious, scanning her surroundings.
It had been a while since she’d left the school.
She looked around the bus; the few women on board were all sitting at the front, so there was no potential threat.
She relaxed and turned her gaze to the scenery outside the window.
Their university was on a hillside, and after leaving the street full of college shops, the road down the mountain became a bit bumpy, though the scenery was nice.
Ning Chu suddenly turned to Wen Yang. “Any news from Wang Jie?”
“No idea. Didn’t he go off to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday?”
“No news is good news~”
“Why are you so concerned about him…?”
She yawned and lazily leaned back against her seat. “Just asking.”
Every afternoon, drowsiness would start to set in.
“I’m gonna take a nap. Wake me up when we get there.”
“It’s almost a two-hour ride. Take your time.”
“Mm.”
Soon, her makeup-free face settled into a peaceful, relaxed expression, her eyes closed and head leaning to the side against the seat, completely unguarded.
Wen Yang put his phone away and took a rare opportunity to study her face.
Ning Chu’s long, slightly curled lashes fluttered as she tried to find a comfortable position.
Her delicate brows knit in slight frustration; clearly, sleeping on the bus was more challenging than she’d expected. But the familiar, safe scent nearby only made her drowsier.
Within ten minutes, she was fast asleep.
“Is she asleep?” Wen Yang muttered, a bit surprised. He took off his coat and gently draped it over her.
Now, Ning Chu had her guard down completely with him.
If he wanted to do anything, she’d probably never notice.
A sudden, mischievous thought popped into his mind, filling him with guilt as his breathing became heavier.
Hesitating, he glanced at her soft, innocent face.
The more he resisted the idea, the stronger the urge became.
Wen Yang swallowed nervously, quietly reaching out to rest his hand on top of Ning Chu’s, giving it a gentle squeeze.
Her hand was cool and soft… practically boneless, a perfect description for how delicate her hand felt.
He watched her face closely, afraid that she might wake up, but just then, the bus turned a sharp corner. With the vehicle’s jolt, Ning Chu’s body leaned over, and her head naturally rested against his upper arm.
Startled, Wen Yang quickly withdrew his hand, straightening his posture to stare at the front.
“Mmm~” Ning Chu let out a soft, cat-like hum and, mistaking Wen Yang’s arm for a pillow, snuggled even closer, shifting until she could comfortably rest her head on his bicep.
The soft, firm feel of his muscle was somehow more comfortable than a regular pillow.
“Let me borrow you as a pillow,” she murmured in a sleepy, soft voice that left no room for refusal.
“Sure.”
Wen Yang froze, not daring to move.
Her subtle, girlish scent wafted up, mingling with hints of shampoo and body wash.
He was young and energetic, and he hadn’t had an outlet for a while now; the faintly romantic atmosphere had him quickly at attention.
Shifting his coat a bit, he made sure a corner covered his lower half, hiding any… obvious signs.
Ning Chu’s breathing deepened, fully at ease now.
The temptation to reach out crept over him once more.
He carefully took her hand again, feeling slightly guilty, and glanced around, only to see a nearby passenger giving him an amused smile.
Apparently, their little interactions had not gone unnoticed.
Caught off guard, Wen Yang looked away, his cheeks tinged red.
…
“Wake up, we’re here.”
“Huh?” Ning Chu jolted awake, her eyes still dazed with confusion. “Where are we?”
“It’s time to get off.”
“Oh, right!” She noticed Wen Yang already standing in the aisle and, without time to stretch, hurriedly followed him off the bus.
“That was such a good nap~” she murmured, yawning lazily once they were outside.
She rubbed her slightly sore shoulder and muttered, “How come I’ve never slept this well, even in bed?”
“Maybe it’s because you’re always on your phone before you sleep.”
Ning Chu glanced around at the unfamiliar street. “That can’t be the reason, can it? Where’s the library?”
“It’s just up ahead,” Wen Yang replied, leading the way. From a distance, he spotted a student waiting by the library entrance. “There, that kid is my tutoring student.”
The middle schooler noticed Wen Yang too and jogged over to greet him enthusiastically.
“Teacher!”
The boy then looked over at Ning Chu, standing off to the side like a tag-along, and grumbled, “Teacher, wasn’t this supposed to be a one-on-one session? Why’d you bring a classmate?”
What a brat! She thought, holding back a twitching eyebrow. Is it okay to punch him?
