Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 595

Chapter 597. Low Blood Pressure Remedy

Today’s antics at the hot springs were quite intense. It’s been almost a day, and Ning Chu can still feel the swelling pain.

This caused her steps to be a bit awkward, and she didn’t dare to keep her legs together.

“Mom, if Dad bullies you, you have to tell me, okay~”

Her daughter stared fixedly at her mom’s thighs, that innocent gaze made Ning Chu awkwardly look away, her face turning red as she avoided her gaze.

“Really not, how could your dad dare to bully me?”

Ning Chu, flustered and annoyed, kicked Wen Yang: “See? It’s all me bullying him.”

Wen Yang immediately put on a pitiful face and complained to their daughter: “Your mom is bullying me.”

“Oh~”

He turned to Ning Chu with a resigned look: “Didn’t you used to be affectionate with me? Why the double standards now?”

“Maybe she thinks it’s okay for me to bully you since you’re so much bigger?”

By the time they got home, it was nearly nine o’clock. If it weren’t for Ning Chu and Wen Yang’s firm refusals, they would have been dragged by her mother to stay over.

Although their mother’s house was pretty nice, with her around, Ning Chu could easily act like a pampered princess who does nothing and lets her mother take care of their daughter. Still, living in their own little home with Wen Yang felt much more comfortable.

“Shu Jun, what did you play at kindergarten today? Did the teacher assign any homework?”

Ning Chu sat on the foam mat in the living room, using scissors to cut open the packaging of a giant teddy bear.

“Drawing, puzzles…”

The compressed stuffed toy lost air and quickly inflated to its full one-point-five-meter size.

Her daughter was taken aback, interrupting her sentence as she stared at the giant bear, exclaiming: “Wow~”

“It’s a gift from your kindergarten, do you like it?”

Ning Chu placed the teddy bear upright against the wall.

“Like it!”

The daughter squealed and dove into the teddy bear, burying her small body inside it.

“I knew she would like it!” Ning Chu smiled and looked up at the sofa.

Wen Yang rubbed his nose in annoyance: “This takes up too much space… what if she doesn’t want it later?”

“If she doesn’t want it, it’s just right for me~”

“Isn’t it you who likes it?”

Ning Chu hummed noncommittally: “It would make a perfect sofa.”

She wriggled her bottom, resting her chin on the glass coffee table, gazing at Wen Yang’s face: “Now that Shu Jun is going to school, she finishes at four-thirty… can’t I look for a job too? Staying at home all day is kind of boring.”

“What job would let you off by four-thirty?”

“That’s true…”

Plus, the family didn’t really need her to work for that small few thousand yuan… Once, she could earn over ten thousand a month, but after being a full-time housewife for the last three to four years, she doubted she could find a good job now.

“Now the family is all about your income.” Ning Chu lowered her eyes.

Even if Wen Yang didn’t care, she still felt a sense of dependency, as if she had to rely on a man to support herself.

Once being a man, she really valued economic independence.

Wen Yang knew what his wife was thinking; he had offered reassuring words countless times over these years, each time brushing it off with their daughter as an excuse.

But now that their daughter was going to school…

“How about you come work at my company as an accountant?”

Wen Yang asked half-jokingly.

Ning Chu’s eyes lit up at first but then shook her head vigorously: “But I don’t have an accounting certificate!”

“Just take a test.”

“Forget it!”

She had always struggled with math, especially not suited for accounting, which required precision down to the last cent.

“I’ll take a look; if I have time in the coming days, I’ll go out and find a job. Otherwise, it’ll just get boring at home with nothing to do but housework and games…”

Even though that life didn’t sound too bad.

“Honey~ Where should we go next… to buy a gift for Shu Jun?”

Although she thought about their daughter all the time at the hot springs, now that they’re back, Ning Chu was thinking about having fun again.

Like in childhood, thinking about playing while doing homework, and thinking about homework while playing.

Wen Yang pondered for a moment: “Now that Shu Jun is at school, besides weekends, I can take you out whenever I have time… Regarding the New Year, we can travel abroad. Let’s enjoy ourselves.”

“Yeah! But be quiet, so we don’t get caught…”

Ning Chu shrunk her neck in guilty apprehension, but when she turned her head, she found the living room had suddenly lost their daughter, and even the teddy bear was gone.

“Where’s Shu Jun?” She froze for a second. “It’s been a while since I heard anything from her.”

“Maybe she went to sleep?”

“That’s unlikely…”

Her face turned grim.

Once kids go quiet, it’s either they’re up to no good or they’re getting into something big!

Especially their daughter! Though she seemed shy outdoors, she was always rambunctious at home and was rarely quiet except when she was sleeping.

Recalling last year, just not paying attention for ten minutes and there she was in the kitchen, tiptoeing to play with a knife.

Wen Yang also clearly remembered past mishaps; he hurriedly got up from the sofa to join Ning Chu in searching for their daughter.

First, they scanned the living room, with Ning Chu running in a panic to the kitchen, and upon seeing that the knife was still safely placed up high, she sighed in relief.

Just then, she heard Wen Yang’s stern voice.

“Wen Shu Jun! What are you doing!”

Wen Yang rarely sounded that strict, making Ning Chu’s heart jump.

She rushed to the kitchen and peeked in to see her daughter’s whole body dripping wet, staring blankly at her parents at the door, with a bottle of body wash squeezed in her hand, continuing to lather it on the teddy bear.

And the teddy bear, lying on the edge of the bathtub, was completely soaked.

This scene nearly made Ning Chu faint.

That big ol’ teddy bear, how did you manage to drag it here without making a sound!

Her daughter tilted her head, looking bewildered at the two: “I’m giving it a bath~ It smells, it’s stinky.”

Looking at the mess in the bathroom and hearing their daughter’s innocent words, the couple didn’t know what expression to show.

Ning Chu took a deep breath, forcing down her anger: “You leave that there, I’ll help you wash it tomorrow.”

Thank goodness it was a girl; that sweet, innocent face was really disarming.

“Right, let your mom handle this. You need your mom’s help even to take a bath.”

“Oh~”

Wen Yang rubbed his temples in frustration: “Take her to the bathroom in the bedroom to wash up, we don’t want her to catch a cold.”

“Here…”

“I’ll clean up.”

Ning Chu, utterly at her wit’s end, took her daughter’s hand and walked to the bedroom: “Every day like this…”

At this rate, she was bound to get high blood pressure or heart issues!

“After your bath, go to sleep. You have to wake up at seven for kindergarten tomorrow.”

“Mom! I want the little bear to sleep with me!”

“Then where are your dad and I supposed to sleep?”

“Over there!”

Her daughter pointed toward the room, and Ning Chu’s eyes brightened, but she still worriedly asked: “Are you sure you can sleep by yourself?”

She was already over three and old enough to sleep separately!

She had tried before, but her daughter cried and made a fuss, so she didn’t expect her to bring it up now, which was just what Ning Chu wanted.

“I can!”

“Alright, from now on you can sleep with your little bear.”

She could already imagine how joyful future nights would be.
