Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - May Chaos Bring Order
Aaah! I shot up from my bed with an almost alarming speed. Sweat was evident all over my body.
What the fuck?
What was that. Were those my memories. No wait. That was Lucas'. Fuck. Did I go through his memories.
They felt so real, like I lived it. The lonely nights, lonely dinners, lonely birthdays. After Mo- Yennifer died, the Morningstar house became hell.
Or I guess Yennifer's death simply accelerated the Morningstar's descent into hell.
Fucking Silas. Fucking Arnolds. I grit my teeth as I remembered that the horrible treatment I, rather, Lucas received, started from his awakening ceremony.
In this world, magic was everything. Especially to the nobles. Everyone was born with set amount of mana. It would never increase past it's rank anyway no matter how strong you become.
Now here's the tricky part, the amount of mana you awaken, almost always directly correlates with your potential limit. And in this world everyone has a limit.
Even so it's not like awakening with a [C] rank potential was not great. The problem was that I was a noble. A high ranking one.
The son of Duke Morningstar. And given that dukes were some of the most powerful people in the empire, they had to have magic that matched the power(authority), they had.
But even then. Even if I was of low potential. It's still annoying that they just abandoned me like that.
Haaa.
Well I guess it doesn't matter anymore. With those thoughts in my head, I stood up from the bed.
Walking towards the slide glass door at the end of my room, I opened it and walked out into the balcony.
Hhhhhhmmmmmmmhhhhhh
Taking a deep breath of fresh air, I gazed out into Wolfen. The Capital city of the Morningstar duchy and the resident city of House Morningstar.
And I have to say, the estate was huge, but Wolfen was far bigger. The Morningstar estate was large enough to contain three large villas but the city was almost times ten of that.
Now then, I think it's time I plan for the future. After regaining Lucas' - my memories, I obtained quite crucial and well frankly speaking bad information.
So turns out, Lucas has already been exiled. But he was given grace to stay till he was sixteen.
Shit. I had assumed that to avoid being exiled from the Morningstar house, I simply had to not act out of line the way Lucas did.
But I guess his exile was already sealed in stone a long time ago. It just wasn't implemented till the start of the academy arc.
Huuuuu.
If that's the case, then it kinda makes sense how Arnolds treated me last night. Since I was exiled, that technically means I'm disowned. Which would make me not his son.
Damn. That's depressing. Bastards. Now that I think about it, I guess the Morningstars did deserve the--
Wait.
I suddenly recalled something from the novel. In the novel Yennifer, Lucas' mother was alive. Lucas was the one who killed both her and Arnolds but that's beside the point.
Why?
Because she is alive at the start of the novel and yet somehow she's dead before the start of the storyline.
How is she dead in this world and she was alive in the novel.
What the fuck is going on right now.
*************
Within a dark empty void, a lone figure could be seen moving, it's presence a mere whisper against the silence.
The darkness within the void seemed to swallow all light, leaving only an abyssal darkness that seemed to have a life of it's own.
Like a specter, the figure glided through the emptiness, unmoored by the constraints of time and space.
As it moved, the darkness around it seemed to coalesce around it, taking a form of it's own. Tendrils of shadows danced across the figure's form, like dark, living tendrils probing the cosmos.
It's face, shrouded in darkness, remained hidden, yet an aura of determination emanated from his very being as it continued moving.
Ahead of the figure, a faint glow materialized, and as it got closer the glow got brighter and brighter seemingly illuminating the void.
When the figure got to where the source of the glow was, he stopped to look at the being there.
The second figure was wrapped in white glowing chains that stretched far into the void. The chains were the source of the glow.
Sensing the arrival of the first figure, the second raised it's head to look at them.
"Yo, #@$&#$@, nice to see you. Did you come to visit your old buddy? Aww. I'm touched".
The second figure said with a mocking tone. The first figure's expression hardened. Visibly angry.
But clenching his fist, he ignored the second figure's rambling. And spoke.
"Must you be like this, $#&@&#&. You've lost. Why can't you just leave the universe alone. Your armies are gone. Your strength has been sealed. Just stop already."
As the first figure spoke, the second figure's expression showed signs of annoyance creeping in but remembering that all was not lost, he smiled.
"You had to rewind time again, didn't you?"
As soon as the second figure said that, the first figure immediately fell silent. The second figure's smile widened at the first's silence.
"Haha. Then I guess I haven't really lost yet, have I?" The second figure said.
BAM
The first figure already angry and agitated, punched the second figure in the face. The void shook due to the force of that punch alone.
But despite being hit with that kind of force, the second figure with a swollen face and bleeding lips simply laughed harder, annoying the first figure further.
The second figure continued speaking. "You know you can't keep reminding time forever right? The akashic records may have granted that authority but it won't let you abuse it as I'm sure you're aware".
The first figure clenched his fist so tight, blood started dripping on the -well- floor of the void while the second figure continued.
"My emissary is stronger than yours. I'm sure you would've liked to simply descend into the mortal realm and handle it, but-"
"Gods are no longer allowed to descend into the mortal realm." The first figure finished the second's statement while still clenching his fist as he continued.
"And it's all your fault."
The second figure seemed pissed by what the first figure said and questioned.
"My fault? You guys were the ones who decided to fight me. I gave you a choice. A chance to join me. You were the ones who refused and chose war."
BOOOMM
The first figure stomped his foot on the floor or space around the void and it shook.
"A chance? A choice? What the fuck are you talking about. Your options were join you to wipe out the universe or fight to protect it and you dare say it's our fault for choosing to protect it. HOW DARE YOU!" He screamed.
The second figure's expression didn't change. He was still smiling while looking around at the effects his counterpart's aura was having on the void.
"Wow. Haven't you gotten stronger. I'm sure the others have gotten stronger as well right? Why not just release me and let's have our round 2. Or are you scared that even now you'd still lose." He said tauntingly.
The first figure's aura burst erupted even further, with visible cracks now occuring round the void.
He knew the second figure was right. Despite growing exponentially stronger since the last time they fought, he knew that if he were to face the second figure even now, he'd still lose.
That's how strong the second figure was.
The first figure calmed a bit and said, "Your emissary won't continuously triumph you know? Soon 'he' will kill him."
The second figure still continued smiling and said. "If 'he' thinks he can, let him try his best."
The first figure then stretched out his hand and a portal opened. He glided towards the portal and just as he was about to go through, he turned around look at the second figure who was still smiling and walked inside.
As the portal was closing, he heard the second figure say, "May Chaos bring Order" and the portal closed.
