Virus King [Translation]

Chapter 62: Chapter 0062: SSS-Level Mission: The Ultimate Investment! (1/5)

A fresh wave of horrifying zombies swarmed towards him, but Novak no longer paid them any mind. His thoughts were completely consumed by the item from earlier—the dual job transfer scroll.

Everyone in the world knew that one person could only have one job. This was common knowledge. But here was an item that could shatter that belief, a prop so valuable it could drive anyone mad.

Dual careers.

Being able to possess two jobs at the same time meant having the growth attributes of both. Typically, for an S-level profession, one could gain at least 15 attribute points with each level up, with an additional 10 points freely allocated to any attribute.

Profession and talent were the two most critical factors determining the strength of an evolutionary at the beginning of their journey. With dual jobs, that number would soar to 50 attribute points with every level increase, assuming both jobs were S-level.

To put it simply, one level-up with dual jobs could result in an improvement greater than that of ten levels in a low-tier profession! Not to mention, each profession's unique skills and abilities would stack!

This SSS-level item was undeniably precious, a treasure. It was so valuable that even Zogwort, the Goblin God of Trade, likely didn't foresee its game-changing effects. But the catch was that it could only be used before job change, at level ten or lower. Otherwise, Zogwort would've used it himself or traded it to one of the many gods who coveted it.

Now, after his rebirth, Novak had the chance to claim this powerful item! His two main goals early in the apocalypse were to obtain the dual job transfer scroll and acquire a special profession—one he hadn't even heard of in his previous life but that filled him with excitement just from its name.

However, it was clear that the difficulty of obtaining such an item was immense. His SSS-level talent, Virus King, was merely the key to unlocking the mission.

As Novak swept away the approaching zombies and leaped into an open area, he finally took a proper look at the mission he had accepted—not just any mission, but a special one personally assigned by a god!

——

[Ultimate Investment (SSS-level mission)]

Mission Description: If you wish to receive the shrewdest, greatest, and most noble investment from the Goblin God of Trade, you'll need to showcase your true abilities. Talent is merely the stepping stone, but your personal capabilities will determine whether Zogwort deems you worthy of being his cornerstone.

Mission Objective: Find the special dungeon hidden within De M-anila University, defeat the creature that Zogwort has taken notice of, and retrieve a part of its body to present to Zogwort!

(Note: This mission will automatically fail if you surpass level ten or change jobs before completing it!)

Mission Reward: Unlock the second phase of the "Ultimate Investment" mission, increase Zogwort's favorability, and obtain one item, piece of equipment, or skill book from Zogwort's trading list, ranked B-level or lower.

——

Novak's eyebrows lifted. This Goblin God of Trade truly was the fairest among all the gods—there were even rewards for completing each stage of the mission! A B-level or lower item might not seem like much, but at the beginning of the apocalypse, even that was a treasure.

Novak refocused. His next task was to locate the hidden secret realm within the vast campus of De M-anila University—a secret realm that hadn't existed, or at least wasn't known to him, in his previous life. For the first time since his rebirth, something was beyond his control.

Yet, instead of feeling anxious or frustrated, Novak was filled with excitement. This was the challenge he craved, the kind that would allow him to constantly surpass his previous limits and grow stronger.

"If everything always goes as expected, then I'm still trapped within my own knowledge and experiences," he thought.

Novak's eyes narrowed as he recalled Zogwort's parting reminder—this secret realm was somehow connected to his talent. Could it be located in one of De M-anila University's laboratories where they studied microorganisms, bacteria, or viruses?

But did De M-anila University even have such facilities?

Novak wasn't sure, but he could at least begin narrowing down possible locations. If the secret realm had anything to do with his Virus King talent, it would either be at the university's affiliated hospital just outside the campus or within its medical school.

However, his memories of the campus were a bit fuzzy. Back in his previous life, he hadn't been an evolutionary yet, so his knowledge of the university's layout was not as clear as he'd like.

Fortunately, even if Novak didn't know all the answers, De M-anila University was filled with students who might. He scanned his surroundings and soon fixed his gaze on the gymnasium in the distance.

Earlier, while searching for Zogwort, he had noticed that the gymnasium had been sealed off, a stark contrast to the other zombie-ravaged areas of the campus. There were likely students gathered inside.

As he made his way toward the gymnasium, he heard a commotion coming from within—raised voices, curses, and most telling of all, many of the voices were speaking in languages other than the Faeloria Country's.

Novak frowned slightly. Infighting—the inherent flaw of human nature. It was happening not just at De M-anila University, but in every gathering place across De M-anila. After the apocalypse, the rules of society had collapsed, and with them, the demons in people's hearts were unleashed. In many cases, humans were far more terrifying than the zombies themselves.

But in this moment, a deep, murderous intent welled up inside Novak.

Just before he reached the main gate of the gymnasium, a voice came through clearly:

"Fk! You bastard should be the ones going out to get food! It's your people who turned into so many damn zombies and trapped us all here!"
