Chapter 14: Re Ch 13
Jason's next stop was the Alchemist Association.
The Alchemist Association was a vast construct. The courtyard pavilion alone took up a huge amount of space. The hall in front had lots of alchemists wearing different colored robes walking in and out.
Even though it was declined like the Inscription Association, it was still doing better than the latter.
After entering the Alchemist Association, he walked over to the reception.
"Nice to have you here, what can I do for you?" A lady wearing a grey robe looked at him and asked. She's the receptionist of the Alchemist Association Hall.
"I'm here to take the Alchemist Exam," Jason stated as he looked at the tall lady and lightly smiled. "May I know how I can address you?"
This lady looked at Nie Li with a little surprise. The amount of youngsters coming to the Alchemist Association to become an alchemist was already very rare. Since there's a newcomer, naturally the Alchemist Association welcomes them.
"You can call me Xiao Lan. You're here for the Apprentice test, right? Have you been preparing well? Alchemist apprentices must be familiar with over ten books of alchemy foundations," Xiao Lan said, lightly smiling.
"Miss Xiao Lan, can I take the Alchemy Master exam?" Jason asked, looking towards Xiao Lan.
Hearing Jason's words, Xiao Lan was stunned for a moment and said, "Although it's possible, but do you know how much practice is needed to become an Alchemy Master? Aside from those books about foundations, there are also hundreds of books about various herbs that you need to be familiar with."
"I know it, Miss Xiao Lan. And... Age does not reflect one's knowledge." Jason replied, not too humble not too arrogant.
"Joining the exams for the Alchemy Masters requires you to pay upfront two hundred demon spirit coins, and it is required to pay first before taking the exam," Miss Xiao Lan said, looking at him.
"Here," Nie Li took out a pouch filled with gold coins and handed it to her.
She was a little surprised by his method of payment but still guided him to an examination room as a part of her job.
The room wasn't empty as there were two old men in their sixties. Via their robes, he could guess that both of them were Primary Alchemy Masters. Beside them was a table and a chair. On the table sat a stack of books and a sheep's horn pen.
Seeing Jason come in, one of the Primary Alchemy Masters was stunned for a moment, puzzled. He asked, "This student, are you in the wrong place? This is the exam room for Alchemy Master."
"Two seniors, I'm not in the wrong place. I'm here to take the exam for Alchemy Master," Jason politely said.
The two Alchemy Masters looked at each other, a little surprised.
"Okay then, there are more than three hundred and sixty pages within this book. You can take a few from the book. On each page, there are all sorts of alchemy questions. You are required to write the answers on the paper. You have to take a total of twenty pages and finish them within two hours. Only if the correct rate is over 90% can you go into the next round," One of the Alchemy Masters instructed.
"Please help me pick a few," Jason said, looking at the Alchemy Master. If the papers are picked by the Alchemy Master, then that would eliminate any possibility of him cheating.
That Alchemy Master saw Nie Li's clear eyes, nodded, and said, "Okay!" He randomly picked twenty papers from within and placed them in front of Jason, "You can do these!"
Jason took up the horn pen. His gaze swept across the questions on those papers. The corner of his mouth rose. These questions were simply too easy for him.
Jason's pen was flying.
Scribble scribble and he finished answering several questions.
Those two Alchemy Masters originally thought that Jason wouldn't be able to answer them, however, they never thought that he would be able to answer the questions so fast!
The two Alchemy Masters checked his answers in fear of them being just some random nonsense but the result left them shocked.
Perfect!
They couldn't even doubt him cheating on the exam as the papers were picked out by them, resulting in eliminating all the possibilities.
'A thirteen-fourteen-year-old kid, even if he was to start reading since he was in the womb, could not possibly finish reading so many books.'
The two Alchemy Masters looked at each other and bitterly smiled.
Since his knowledge of Alchemy was at least on par with them, they decided to treat him politely.
"My name is Huyan Ming and he is Mu Yang, We are both Primary Alchemy Masters, May I know where is this young master from?"
"I'm Nie Li, from the Heavenly Marks Family," Jason replied.
The two Alchemy Masters chatted with Nie Li for a while and realized that Nie Li was not only proficient with the theories of alchemy but also familiar with the process of actual refinement.
Monstrous!
They have been in alchemy for decades, and have only just reached Alchemy Master level at forty-fifty years old. Thinking about Nie Li's age again, they couldn't help feeling embarrassed.
"Nie Li, you'll wait here for a while. The both of us will go and see the president. See if we can let you enter the Alchemy Association directly without the other tests." The two Alchemy Masters said, laughing.
"Thank you, seniors," Jason cupped his hands, saying humbly...
When Huyan Ming was back, he guided him to the Council Hall.
"Nie Li, wait here. The President and Director Yang will be here soon," Huyan Ming said, his eyes eagerly looking at the genius in front of him. Nie Li's aura made Huyan Ming feel as though this boy in front of him wasn't a thirteen-year-old kid, but an alchemist of equal rank.
"Okay," Jason said, slightly nodding his head, silently observing the hall.
This Council Hall was still quite big. In the center area, there was a round table with some chairs, and the walls were covered with papers.
"What are these?" Jason asked, looking at Huyan Ming.
"This is the place where all the Alchemy Masters exchange their ideas and thoughts. Alchemy Masters write down the problems that they encountered during their refining, seeking answers from all the other Alchemy Masters. Occasionally, the President and other elders would help those Alchemy Masters to answer their questions. If you know the answer, you can then write it on the paper, and someone will verify it," Huyan Ming said, "Through this method, Alchemy Masters can enhance each other's alchemy skills."
"Oh," Jason nodded his head and walked over to them, taking a look at the problems.
"Can anyone answer these questions as long as he has answers?" Jason asked.
"Yes, someone will verify it later"
"Okay," He said as he took a pen on the table and started to answer them even before Huyan Ming had the chance to stop him.
Jason swiftly moved his hand, writing down the answers after taking a glimpse at the problems.
Seeing how fast he was writing down the solution to the problems, Huyan Ming didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But nonetheless, he still decided to take a look at his answers.
