Why would Uchiha Kai think that Kikyō is Karin's mother?

Because, when you think about it carefully, when Uzumaki Kikyō was first rescued, all the characteristics she displayed perfectly matched those of Uzumaki Karin's mother, who never even appeared in the original manga.

The Uzumaki clan members, controlled by the Land of Grass, were used as human experiments, their freedom restricted. The age also matched, and the fact that, despite being from the Uzumaki clan, she had never appeared in the original manga—everything pointed to the fact that Uzumaki Kikyō was, indeed, the mother of Uzumaki Karin, a popular supporting character in the original story.

Of course, it's also possible that the Land of Grass found another Uzumaki clan member to exploit, while Uzumaki Kikyō quietly passed away in history, with no notable events.

Later, Kushina Uzumaki came to Konoha, and under Minato's influence, she joined their little team.

Then, when Kikyō Uzumaki was saved and brought back, she too became a part of their group.

One could say that the four of them had really grown up together, supporting each other. They weren't family by blood, but they were more like family than anyone else.

This small gathering was the process that maintained their bond.

During the meal, the four of them began chatting and sharing stories, talking about the interesting things and experiences that had happened recently.

Minato shared some of the events he encountered during his missions, of course, leaving out the details that were confidential.

Kushina, on the other hand, talked about some gossip she had heard from the neighbors, which was one of her favorite ways to entertain herself.

After four years, she became a Genin through a special recruitment, and recently, it was heard that she was about to be promoted to Chunin through an exceptional decision. Uzumaki Kikyo was very happy to share this news with everyone.

Normally, becoming a Chunin required passing the Chunin Exams, but since Uzumaki Kikyo was specially recruited as a ninja, she directly bypassed that process.

Naturally, everyone congratulated and wished her well from the bottom of their hearts.

However, during this time, Uzumaki Kikyo carefully observed Uchiha Kai's reaction, fearing that he might feel unhappy.

After all, Uchiha Kai had worked for so many years to become a Chunin, but she had advanced to the same rank in such a short time, so she was genuinely worried that Uchiha Kai might feel upset about it.

Although the conditions to activate it were quite strict, and there were suspicions about whether there might be some hidden plot, just as Minato trusted Uchiha Kai unconditionally, the Uzumaki sisters also trusted him without any hesitation.

However, Uchiha Kai refused.
