"Thank you for the compliments, Elder," Lin Langtian replied, narrowing his eyes. "But perhaps if your Ling family stops coveting Blackrock Manor, I'll consider letting you all go."
So, this was a half-step Nirvana Realm fighter, Lin Langtian thought, observing Ling Lie. Although he didn't possess the profound energy of a full Nirvana master like Lin Fan, his strength was still formidable.
"Oh? Young man, don't make bold claims. Are you implying the Lin clan's head himself has come?" Ling Lie glanced around cautiously, a hint of tension in his gaze.
The only Lin clan member who concerned him was their Nirvana-level head, Lin Fan. Usually, clan leaders on both sides avoided personal involvement to prevent an escalated conflict that other powers could exploit. But perhaps the Lin clan had decided to break these unspoken rules.
Noticing Ling Lie's nervous expression, Lin Langtian smirked dismissively and shook his head. "Relax. It's just me."
Hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed in Ling Lie's old eyes. As a half-step Nirvana fighter, he understood better than anyone the chasm between the Transformation and Nirvana Realms. And Lin Langtian was merely at the Transformation mastery level.
Ling Long and his brothers exchanged glances and sneered. They thought Lin Langtian's defiance of the Supreme Elder was foolish and bound to end badly. Many geniuses grew arrogant, but they usually met unfortunate ends.
Ling Lie's eyes narrowed, and he gave a cold smile. "Defeating Ling Long with your Transformation mastery level is impressive. But no one has ever dared speak to me like this before. It seems today, I'll have to take your life myself. Hopefully, losing a genius like you won't drive your clan head to madness."
"We'll see if you have what it takes," Lin Langtian replied, his hands clenching as flames subtly flickered beneath his skin. A powerful aura seeped from him, resisting Ling Lie's overwhelming pressure without flinching.
"You'll regret this," sneered Ling Lie, his sinister expression darkening as faint lightning sparked from his withered hand, flickering at his fingertips like crackling threads of energy.
Suddenly, he moved like a shadow, appearing above Lin Langtian, his claw-like hand brimming with lightning energy as it slashed viciously toward Lin Langtian's head.
Seeing Ling Lie launch such a deadly attack, Ling Long and the others grinned maliciously, expecting Lin Langtian's certain death. But just then, a brilliant burst of black light erupted in front of Lin Langtian, revealing a figure cloaked in dark energy.
"Boom!"
A black arm pierced through the darkness, intercepting Ling Lie's claw, and a terrifying shockwave spread from the collision, sending spiderweb cracks across the ground.
"Bang!"
For a moment, Ling Lie's claw and the black arm were locked in place. Then, under the force of the clash, Ling Lie staggered back several steps, finally steadying himself.
Ling Long and his brothers were frozen in shock, stunned by what they had just witnessed. Ling Lie, their Supreme Elder, had been forced back by Lin Langtian's mysterious defender!
