You Are My Whole Life

Chapter 2: 2. Aloof and Arrogant Man 2_1

The back seat of the car is separated from the front driver's seat by a partition, creating a separate little space, very spacious.

However, Yu Jingrong felt extremely uncomfortable, as if she was constrained.

She sat straight and dignified, her two hands tightly intertwined, and with peripheral vision glanced at the languid man sitting next to her, gracefully smoking.

This man, unchanged from her memory, still seemed aloof and cold. His handsome face was expressionless, seemingly calm, yet those sharp, profound eyes revealed a mysterious emotion that was difficult for others to comprehend. An air of detached hauteur enveloped him. His thin, red lips curved lazily, seemingly always ready to mock others.

She remembered that he did not smoke before. How did he start smoking now?!

But it is undeniable that, he emitted a dizzying charm with every move while smoking.

The rolling mist encircled him, accentuating his tailored Gildo Zegna shirt which showcased a simple form of luxurious elegance. He seemed seductive and slightly melancholic, as if he was a devastatingly attractive demon capable of bewitching people's hearts and souls.

Yu jingrong turned her head away, daring not to look at him anymore.

She feared that her heart, which had just calmed down, would be thrown into chaos again.

But keeping silent was not a solution. Why did he ask her to get into the car? If he was just giving her a ride, why did he not ask where she wanted to go?

In the cold, snow-like space, one's sense of touch and smell became unusually sensitive.

That overpowering familiar smell, bearing a hint of dry tobacco, dominated her senses coercively.

It was intimidating.

Her long eyelashes blinked and she shifted to the side, thinking she could distance herself from him and not be disturbed.

Her foot, however, accidentally touched the exquisitely crafted metal table in front.

The noise that broke the silence startled Yu Jingrong. The bag on her lap fell to the floor and a thin object slid out from inside.

She caught a glimpse of the object, recognizing it as an unopened Durex. Yu Jingrong's face instantly went stiff, as if she had been struck by lightning.

She looked up to see Li Chengyun, a thousand-year-old ice glittering in his eyes.

She quickly bent over to pick it up, but Li Chengyun was faster and picked up the Durex first.

He looked at her with cold eyes, his lips drew into a chilling smile: "Is this prepared for me?"

Yu Jingrong was extremely embarrassed. She forced herself to stay calm, but her face turned conspicuously red. She bit her lip, unsure of what to say, and after a while barely managed to mutter: "No...it's not mine, someone else...put it in, accidentally...I didn't expect...this, um..."

Damn it, what was she trying to say, why was she stammering? Why did she need to explain? And why did her explanation sound more like an excuse?

Li Chengyun's eyes grew colder, as deep as an unfathomable sea. The silence belied the tumultuous storm hiding beneath. He pursed his lips, then curled it into a smile that was not quite a smile, filled with palpable scorn.

Just like before.

Yu Jingrong hated his expression. The first time she saw him, he had the same look.

Proud, aloof, sending a clear message of 'stay away' to everyone, sitting in the corner without uttering a word. The air of elegance and nobility around him was evident, and the smile at the corner of his mouth - or was it a mockery, left her, the only other person in the room, uneasy.

She later found out that when Chengyun wanted to ridicule someone, he would curl his lips in such a way.

Who would have thought that after three years, instead of fading away, this "unique skill" of his had improved to master level.

Really, he was wasting it if he wasn't going to start a separate sect for this!
